Why Invest In New Bag-house Technology

Keeping Up WithChanging Envi-

ronmental Regula-tions Can Be Dif-ficult,

Baghouse.comCan Help!

Increase Productivity, Reduce

Costs, Gain Environmental Bene-

fits

What actions can you take to reducecosts, and at the same time increaseproduction? Improvements to yourDust Collection System can easily in-crease production levels, while cuttingcosts due to increased efficiency, lowermaintenance demands, less systemdowntime that leads to productionstoppages, lower power consumption, and improvements in environmentalemissions.

Questions To Ask Yourself

1. How well does your baghouse operationsupport your efforts to reduce costs?

2. How much capital is going towards main-taining and repairing your Baghouse?

3. How much production time are you loosingeach month due to unscheduled maintenanceinside your Baghouse?

What is holding you back from

upgrading your Dust Collection

System?

Plant managers often tells us abouttwo concerns:

1. Upgrades are expensive, and mayinvolve substantial downtime.

2. Will a new Dust Collector meetboth current and future emissionregulations?

How Baghouse.com Can Help

By improving your system, you will beable to reduce your total costs in thelong run. (See Box On Right) Addi-tionally, Baghouse.com has the fieldexperience needed to be able to install your new system improvements inminimal time, requiring only a limitedamount of downtime to do so.

You also will position yourself to meetand exceed current, and future envi-ronmental regulations. (See Box Be-

low)

As a plant operator you are looking to“Do more with less”, and reduce op-erational expenses at the same timewherever possible. However you needto maintain production goals, andkeep your Dust Collector running at100% while suffering from a shrinkingbudget for parts and labor. The deci-sions made involving your Dust Col-lector can have a significant impact on your overall operation costs. There-fore, we encourage you to speak with a

Baghouse.com representative and seewhat areas in your operation we canmake improvements and start saving your money today. (See Box On Right)

Reduce Cost Of Operation

Baghouse.com can help you to improveefficiency, and cut operating costs all at thesame time. We have many different strate-gies we can implement that will achievethis goal. Here are just three options wehave to offer:

1. Change Filter Fabric - Increase oper-

ating tempter range with fiberglass orsynthetic fibers. PTFE membranecoating can filter finer particulatesand clean better and more efficiently.

2. Pleated Filters - Dramatically increasefilter cloth ratio and Filter service life.

3. Convert old Reverse Air or Shakerdesign Collectors into the more mod-ern Pulse Jet design to reduce operat-ing cost, increase capacity and extendfilter life among many other benefits.

Better Technology

By upgrading to the latest technology the

industry has to offer, you can dramaticallyimprove performance, and reduce powerconsumption. Higher efficiency Filters,Fabrics, and Baghouse designs, might evenallow you to downsize your Baghouse, or(If you currently have more than one Col-lector) remove individual Collectors.

Less Maintenance

New equipment designs have a muchlonger service life than outdated modelswhich leads to reduced maintenance costs.

Reduced Energy Usage

Higher Air to Cloth ratios will allow formore efficient use of fan power. This willin turn lead to energy savings, throughlower overall system power consumption.

Stricter Environmental Regulations Are Coming - The current interna-

tional outcry over the worsening environmental conditions on our planet, is leading tomost industrialized countries making pollution control a top priority. With recentinternational agreements, most countries are in the process of tightening their emis-

sion standards, leaving many for-merly compliant facilities now lack-ing far behind.

The Baghouse.com Advantage What Makes Baghouse.com

Brand Dust Collectors Superior

To The Competition?

We Build Them Better. Baghouse.com

brand Dust Collectors include many

standard value-added features such as

larger inlet diffusers to prevent hopper

turbulence, re-entrainment and facili-

tate material drop-out. An expanded

quiescent free-board zone between the

inlet and the bottom of the filter bags

to reduce unnecessary dust load, filter

abrasion and interstitial velocity while

further enhancing material drop-out.

And a “clean-on-demand” control sys-

tem complete with integral pressure

switches & gages to initiate the clean-

ing cycle as required, based on operat-ing differential pressure. This reduces

cleaning frequency, compressed air

consumption and excess wear to the

filters. These are just some of the stan-

dard features we include in each Dust

Collector we design. All of which help

to extend filter life and reduce operat-

ing cost.

The Design Process

We begin by working with you to

determine exactly what your Dust Col-

lection needs are, the characteristics of

the target dust(s), airflow rates, tempera-

ture, toxicity, disposal methods, etc...

 Our engineers begin developing the

best solutions to fit your needs. This in-

cludes determining the type and size of

Collector(s), Ductwork, Filter Material/

Treatments and overall system design.

In addition, we explain which solu-

tion would best fit the particular applica-

tion while still being economical, and

cost effective for you.

Lastly, we submit a detailed plan to you for initial approval. After discussion,

we work on the final specifications be-

fore submitting it for final approval.

Dust Collector Installation

TurnKey installations, Unscheduled ShutDowns or Routine MaintenanceOur Service Department Is Available 24 Hours A Days 365 Day A Year

Which Collector Is Right For Me?

Competitive companies can’t afford to

make mistakes. With so many different

approaches to Dust Collection, you

need expertise you can trust. We will

help you find the solution the best fits

your needs and at a price that will fit

 your budget.Filter Bag Collectors

Often times referred to as a Baghouse,

these Collectors are the most widely

employed, and with good reason. Fab-

ric Collectors offer the widest range of

applications, and if operated and

maintained properly, will result in the

best overall performance. Ideal for use

in a wide range of industries including

but not limited to: Power Generation,

Industrial Processing (Pharmaceutical,

Mineral, Chemical, Rubber, Food, etc)Woodworking/Milling, Steel and

Metal Production and Processing.

Cartridge Collectors

This design is ideally suited to capture

certain special shaped and sized dusts

(granular shaped & less than 50 mi-

crons) and low grain loading levels (less

than 5 grains per cubic foot). Certain

dusts require minimal flexing of the

media during the cleaning process;

thus, Cartridge Collectors will performsatisfactory in certain applications.

Uses include but are not limited to:

Grinding or Sandblast applications,

Welding fumes, laser and plasma cutter

fumes, Graphite, Pharmaceutical and

fine Chemical Powders.

Cyclone Collectors

This design works by creating a vortex

in the airstream within an enclosure,

similar to water going down a drain.

As the airstream is spun around the

Collector, the particles strike the wall

and fall into the hopper below.

These are often employed as an  Initial

Stage Collector   to lighten heavy dusts

loads before being sent to a  Primary

Stage   Fabr ic Col lecto r.  By removing

coarse particles from the gas stream,

and allowing later stage Fabric Collec-

tors to solely remove finer particles,

Cyclones help increase the service life

of Fabric Collectors and their Filters.

Superior Filter Replacement

Methods

Did you know that some filters can beineffective at filtering and self-cleaningif they are not properly installed?Baghouse.com knows the #1 reasonthat filter replacement is ineffective is

negligence in the care of filters priorto and during installation. Extra caremust be taken to avoid damage to newfilters. For example, have past compa-nies made sure to first sweep clean andblow out with compressed air or vac-uum the Dust Collectors once the fil-ters have been removed? Our crewhave extensive experience and aretrained with special tools and tech-niques that guarantee effective installa-tion. # #

“Our Track Record Says It All”

With decades of experience findingsolutions to our customers oftencomplex Dust Collection needs,Baghouse.com as acquired exten-sive experience overcoming obsta-

cles foreseen and unforeseen. Readwhat our Director of Opera-

tions, David DalSanto,  who has

been with the company since itsinception over three decades ago,has to say about some of the mostexceptional and challenging pro- jects Baghouse.com has completed.

What former projects of Baghouse.comare you the most proud of having been a

 part of ?

David - “ John Deere - Centra lFoundry - Waterloo, IA - A violentexplosion in the furnace Baghousedid extensive damage to all struc-tors, including the housing, tubesheet and roof structures. Webrought in a very large crew andworked around the clock, "impro- vis ing and adapting” as the repair sprogressed. We sourced many ofthe needed repair parts, but alsofabricated the main parts and struc-tures we needed on site. In the end,we had the entire Baghouse system

back on line in only nine days.”

What were some of the most challenging proj ects that you have tackl ed?

David - “Goodyear Tire & Rub-

ber Co. - Topeka, KS - Old 'Enve-lope" style Dust Collectors by W.W.Sly & Pangborn were a “mainte-nance headache” for the plant. Wedid multiple Pulse-Jet conversionsto the existing Dust Collectors. Byremoving the inner workings and

roof structures we made room toinstall modern Clean Air Plenums. We modified the ductwork and in-stalled High Efficiency CylindricalFilter Bags and cages to take ad- vantage of the Pulse-Jet cleaningsystem.”

What were the specific problems that you

had to face to complete this project?

David - “Most of the units were in

the center of a large building; anarea that could not be serviced byconventional cranes.”

How did you ove rcome this problem?

David - “New equipment had to

be installed using Helicopter lifts. As licensed pilot/aircraft ownermyself, I know well just how dan-gerous these aerial maneuvers are,

and the great skill, and expertiseneeded to execute these operationssafety. Despite all the challenges wefaced to getting this Baghouse backup and running, downtime for eachconversion was only 3 to 4 dayseach. Again remarkable consideringthe circumstances.”

What do you feel are some of the greatestdangers you know of regarding safety on

the job site, and how do you handle them?

David  - “Several dangers present

themselves regularly in our line ofwork. #1 - Harmful gases leakinginto the work area. #2 - Unsafestructures/hazard of falling objects.#3 - Fire hazards during welding/cutting operations. We work withour foremen, safety personnel andplant representatives to identify allof these dangers specific to each job before we begin. We then briefour people accordingly, enablingthem to keep a c lose watch forthese hazards and avoid them.”

“The greatest danger we encounterhowever is unsafe materials hoistingpractices by plant or outside con-tractor personnel. Because of mypersonal experience as a StructuralIron Worker and Heavy MachineryMover, I know full well the im-mense danger to life that this proc-ess posses. I have seen first handthe tragedy that results when peo-ple who are not qualified to carryout this task, or simply disregard

proper lifting/hoisting safety meas-ures.”

“As such, we prefer to do our ownlifting/hoisting...All of which isoverseen by one of our foremen, with extensive training and experi-ence conducting these lifts safely.

What are some of the biggest mistakes you noti ce other companies make whenservicing a Dust Collector?

David -  “#1 - Incorrect handling/

installation practices on specialtyfilters such as Fiberglass and PTFEMembrane media. #2. Incorrecttensioning procedures on structuralfilter bags. #3 - Incorrect start upsettings/procedures and incorrectoperations procedures.”

“In many cases we are called to fix

another company’s mistakes. Weoften find that a rushed operation,or an overall lack of technical ex-pertise & attention to detail by thecontractor has led to many seriousproblems. These shortcomings lateron, often need to be corrected byBaghouse.com during subsequentmaintenance visits.”

What would you say makes Baghous e.com different from your com-

 pet itors?

David - “We care about our cus-tomers and we do everything possi-ble to help get their operation run-ning as efficiently as possible or getthem back up and running quicklyafter problems do arise.”

“We have a long history of success-fully responding to EmergencyBreakdown situations in which wewere able to get the customer backinto operation quickly with mini-mum downtown, and lost produc-tivity. This is no easy task, and you

will be hard-pressed to find anothercompany capable of duplicatingour successes in this area.”

“We also have initiated many Regu-lar Maintenance Programs, Envi-ronmental Emissions & EnergyAudits, that to this day continuesaving our customers moneythrough avoiding violations andunplanned downtime, and increas-ing efficiency.”

Safety VS. ProfitsThe cost of doing business in ourcompetitive industry is high. In aneffort to reduce costs, many firms cur-tail their safety programs, loweringtheir commitment to working safely.

However safe workplace practices, notonly protect the welfare of our em-ployees, but also in the end will save you money. (See box Industry SafetyFacts)

We make safety our #1 Priority

In addition to required governmentsafety certifications (all MSHA &OSHA regulations), our employeesmust complete our own in-house safetyprogram. This program focuses on themany hazards unique to our field, and

teaches the proper procedures neededto work safely while engaging in thishighly specialized type work.

Through strict enforcement of com-pany safety policies, including one ofzero tolerance for unsafe practices, weensure that our field teams always up-hold our high standards for workplacesafety.

Additionally, we work with our cus-tomers from the beginning to createawareness of hazards specific to eachproject and any special safety proce-dures needed to overcome said haz-ards.

Our exceptional safety record (no ma- jor incidents in 30 years) allows us tocarry up to $5 Million Liability Insur-ance coverage.

With these facts in mind, you can beconfidant, that Baghouse.com contin-ues to make safety a top priority. Bydoing so, Baghouse.com can pass onthe cost benefits to our customers. Weensure that the direct and indirect costof workplace accidents is not undulyincreased for anyone.

Industry Specific Hazards

With our decades of experience in ourfield, we are uniquely qualified to as-sess the many unique dangers that

come along with our work. Here is justone example: The Dangers of IndustrialDust Explosions * Read the entire Articleand many others at www.Baghouse.com

Under the right conditions, most kindsof dusts, can become extremely haz-ardous becoming explosive. Even oth-erwise benign substances such as foodproducts, can be at risk of combustingin a very violent, and destructive ex-plosion, that often causes extensivedamage and costs many lives.

Baghouse.com as a leading authorityin this hazard, understands these dan-gers, can help you prevent these kindsof incidents from occurring.

Six Must Ask Questions Befo re you choose a Dust Coll ec to r or Servi ce Prov ider, cons ider th e foll ow ing...

(1) Does the company have experience in both engineering, and installing Dust

Collectors of comparable size and scope, under real world conditions?

(2) Is the company knowledgeable about current and expected federal and state

environmental regulation; and does it have the expertise  to help us meet and ex-

ceed these standards for the foreseeable future?

(3) Do they have the engineering skills required to identify potential areas within

our current Dust Collection System where efficiency can be increased, thereby

cutting operational costs?

(4) Can they provide a field service team with both the high level of skill and

technical knowledge needed to perform the often complex and challenging task of

installing a Dust Collection System properly?

(5) Does their record show that they treat safety as a top priority; going so far as

to include extensive training, and enforcement of all national safety codes and

regulations?

(6) Can they provide all of the above, while still remaining competitively priced?

Industry Safety Facts

Every year in the U.S. governmentalagencies issue tens of millions of dollarsworth of fines for unsafe work practices.

• In 2005 the largest OSHA fines everwere issued to BP for negligence thatlead to an explosion at one of its refin-eries. The fines were in the amounts of

$97.43 million and $21.36 million. Addto OSHA fines, settlements, and courtaction brought on by victims, and thecost of neglecting safety cost BP a totalof $215 million in 2005.

• The top ten most common OSHA vio-lations in 2005 cost offenders a total of$15,892,908 in fines. Most of theseinfractions regard easy to overlooksafety procedures such as Ladder Safety,PPE (Personal Protective Equipment),and Machine Operating.

The Insurance Research Council esti-

mates in the U.S. that over 3 million em-ployees experience on-the-job injurieseach year. While insurance covers the costof employee health care, other expensesthat are not covered by insurance, can be4 to 5 times greater:

• Employee wages (e.g. Worker's com-punction, training new employees);

• Repairing damaged equipment orproducts;

• Time & resources invested in investigat-ing the accident and filling reports;

• Overtime by other employees and su-

pervisors to compensate for the loss ofproduction;

• Costs associated with lawsuits (e.g. law- yer's fees, settlement, bad publicity).

“If I were asked to assess a company’s

operation, and I had to do so on the

basis of only one indicator, I would

look at their safety performance. If

they are do-

ing well with

safety, with

all their pro-

g r a m s i np l a c e a n d

functioning,

then i t i s

highly likely

that they are

be ing suc-

cessful in all of the other key areas

that we use to measure success. If

they are not performing well on

safety, then chances are they are in

trouble in other areas as well.”
