• There are some questions you have to answer before starting to write your literature review:– What is a literature review ? – What should be included in the chapter? – What references to use? – Any particular details to include in the

review?

What is a literature review ?

• -It is a chapter in your research paper that reflects the complete summary of your reference

project.

What should be included in the chapter?

• -Basically, you would only want to tell a story about another person’s work. Therefore, you must have the ability to write a compact summary to let your readers know that you are actually working on a significant topic interest.

What references to use?

• -Of course, you would only want to use references that are highly reliable. You may find these materials in the forms of thesis and dissertations which may come from established institutions like the library. Some of these materials may include an example of literature review* for your convenience.

• Academic journals, articles, books, etc.

Any particular details to include in the review?

• -Of course, you need to include the very thesis statement of the author, the methods used and the final findings. The conclusion also plays an important part since it finalizes the research details which were extracted from the study. Also, it gives you the idea of how the thesis statement was proven.

Literature Review - Writing the paper

A literature review usually has three sectionsalthough they will not be identified as such in

thepaper.

• 1) Introduction: Introduce your topic and briefly explain why this is a significant or important area for study. Define terms if necessary.

• 2) Summary of articles: In a paragraph or two for each study, briefly explain the purpose, how it was conducted (how information was gathered), and the major findings. When referring to an article, use the last name of author or authors and date of publication in the text.
