SUMMARY OF THE ANNUAL REPORT (2011-2012)

The Atomic Energy Education Society (AEES), an autonomous institution under the administrative charge of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) was established in the year 1969 to meet the educational needs of the children of the employees of the Department of Atomic Energy and its constituent units working at different centers in the country. AEES currently administers 30 schools/ Junior college at 15 centers located all over India and provides education to over 25,560 students. At present there are about 1654 employees of whom over 1338 belong to the teaching category.

The enrichment of the school libraries, computer aided education, improved sports facilities, multi play equipments, introduction of adventure sports, in-service training programmes for teachers, better multi media programmes and enrichment programmes for students have helped the institution to set new benchmarks in excellence. Projects like the construction of auditoria, additional classrooms and the setting up of computer and mathematical laboratories, have greatly contributed to the strengthening of infrastructural facilities in our schools.

The newly accomplished Sports Complex (Common Facilities & Aquatic activities) wasinaugurated by Dr.Srikumar Banerjee, Chairman Atomic Energy Commission and Secretary Dept. of Atomic Energy in the presence of Dr. S.K.Jain, Chairman & Managing Director, NPCIL during All India Inter AECS Sports Meet held from 30th October to 1st November 2011. The Sports Complex provides facilities such as Gymnasium, two Badminton Courts, Table Tennis Hall, a 400 mts track with facility for athletic events and also a separate Swimming Pool. The strengthening of sports facilities has helped the students to develop their skills and bring laurels to their schools.

AEES has launched several long-term key projects such as Application of Science and Technology for Educational Reforms (ASTER). Under the ASTER project, AEES has established the Satellite Interactive Terminals at all centers. All the civil and electrical works pertaining to acoustics and air-conditioning of the ASTER studio have been completed at Anushaktinagar. Studio equipments including cameras etc. have been installed and are made functional.

These on-going programmes are translating the vision into reality and help the institution to scale greater heights even while widening the scope of education. Welfare measures aimed at students as well as the community around were also taken up. AEES has been providing students the opportunities to understand and delve into the creative world.
