Bacillus

Type of pathogen.

• Bacillus is a genus of rod-shaped bacteria and a member of the division Firmicutes. Bacillus species are either obligate or facultative aerobes, and test positive for the enzyme catalase.

• Many Bacillus species are able to secrete large quantities of enzymes.

Source of Pathogen

• diamondback moth, on within-host interactions between the bacterial pathogen Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner and larvae of the parasitoid wasp are all carriers of the pathogen bacillus.

Impact on human health

• Damages the ileum (Inside of your intestine).• Causes Flu like symptoms.

Methods to control Bacillus

• A major way to control Bacillus is to not have farmland by rivers.

• Bacillus is found in roots of plants and vegetables and contaminate the water by water runoff.

• Tobacco also carries the pathogen and with people throwing cigarettes into lakes ponds and streams are polluting our water.

Ways to protect against Bacillus

• There are certain strands of Bacillus that are incurable.

• Anthrax is one of them.• But other strands of the pathogen can be

treated and protected against by antibiotics.
