Cook Up is the creative heart of BAC – everything we do to invent the future of theatre starts here. We support artists to develop new ideas, we offer opportunities for people of all ages to get creative and we host events across the building. We also provide a warm welcome with food and drink for visitors who come to hang out and soak up the atmosphere. And our Cook Up seasons include new Scratch ideas, runs of shows, music, parties and the some of the most exciting new shows touring to London.

Several times a year we present shows and projects that take over large parts of the building. These projects often transform the space and enable audiences to enjoy new perspectives on BAC’s home, Batter-sea’s former Town Hall. Tuck In productions provide you with a feast of new work and experiences to enjoy together.

Bursting out of the walls of BAC, our co-productions developed in partnership with artists are now starting to be presented across London, nationally and internation-ally, providing you with a chance to see the future of theatre in sites and venues across the UK and beyond.

Our new programme model Cook Up – Tuck In – Take Out is taking shape.

BAC Cook Up in September is bursting with flavour. From Scratch starters to finished feasts. From debate & discussion to a fine plate of food for a fiver. Come to Battersea this September to get your taste of Cook Up. You can choose your main dish on our website and then if you’re hungry for more just add extras online or on the night.

Top of the menu is performer Kate Tempest’s Brand New Ancients, a co-production with BAC. We urge you to drop everything and come and experience Kate’s world. Cook Up in September also sees welcome returns for Stewart Lee, Bootworks and John Moran along with many tasty new experiences. If you’ve got something to say then welcome to Dialogue could be for you, or test out the September Talks Lab, meet the Transition Towns Network or try a 1 Minute Manifesto. An all-night Hack & Scratch marks the next stage of our new digital platform for Scratch.

Tuck In productions later in the year promise to be feasts of the best in new theatre. The Good Neighbour starts in October and will be an adventure for all ages, taking over the building and spilling onto the streets. November sees the return of Forced Entertainment’s darkly comic new show The Coming Storm. In December come to Kneehigh’s Midnight’s Pumpkin in BAC’s Grand Hall and you shall go to the ball this Christmas!

Take Out sees The Paper Cinema’s Odyssey, a BAC and The Paper Cinema co-production on the road, touring to twenty towns and cities across the UK. We are also cooking up plans for some exciting touring partnerships for the future; more about this in our next brochure.

We’d love to welcome you to Battersea Arts Centre this autumn. We’re continuing to develop our beautiful Victorian Town Hall home in partnership with artists, Haworth Tompkins architects and with you. FINDING US

BY UNDERGROUND

The closest Underground stations to BAC are Clapham Common on the Northern line or Stockwell on the Victoria line. Either of these stations is approximately a 15 minute bus journey away. The 345 bus departs from outside both stations and travels along Lavender Hill stopping outside BAC.

BY TRAIN

BAC is a 10 minute journey from either Waterloo or Victoria station. Take the train to Clapham Junction, pass through the shopping centre exit and turn left out of the station. BAC is a 5 - 10 minute walk straight up Lavender Hill. Walk up Lavender Hill past ASDA, the Post Office and Magistrate Courts and cross Latchmere Road. BAC is at the top on the left hand side.

BAC is on Lavender Hill SW11 5TN. Plan your route using AA Route Planner.

PARKING

BAC has a private road (Town Hall Road) on the right hand side of the building. Parking permits are required between the hours of 10am and 6pm. These are obtainable from Box Office and are free of charge to BAC customers although space is limited.

Other side roads around BAC have residential and restricted parking between the hours of 8am and 6.30pm, Monday to Saturday.

BY BUS

345, 77, 87, 156 and G1 stop on Lavender Hill outside BAC. The night buses N77 and N345 also stop outside BAC. 35, 37, 39, 49, 170, 219, 239, 295, 319, 337, 344, and C3 buses either terminate at, or go through Clapham Junction. BAC is then a 5/10 minute walk up Lavender Hill on the left hand side. The night buses N19, N31, N35 and N37 also stop near Clapham Junction.See all buses from Clapham Junction.
