(Students pass this band if they manage to give minimum 3 traits.)Based on Journey to the Centre of the Earth, I find Professor Otto Lidenbrock an
interesting character because he shows many different character traits throughout the journey. He is strong-willed and determined in translating the message and says that he will not sleep until he knows the meaning of the message left by Arne Saknussemm. He is also decisive because he quickly decides to follow Arne’s journey once he completes the translation of the message. He is an adventurous and courageous scientist. He is willing to journey into the unknown for the sake of science and exploration. He is also optimistic and does not give up easily. He is certain that they will find water to replenish their decreasing supply. He does not want to quit when their water supply finishes. He is also a responsible and caring uncle. He takes good care of Axel. When Axel goes missing in the dark tunnel, he looks for him and is happy to find him alive and well.
