Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn”. Principal’s Report I attended a ‘Leading and Sustaining a Quality Learning Culture’ conference in Tamworth with Ms Jones and Mrs Boyd along with the Curriculum Advisor, Carol McMahon as part of the Bump It Up initiative. It was pleasing to share our journey thus far with other schools but also to continue focusing on quality teaching and quality learning. Our school plan is underpinned by quality, research based professional learning and it’s great to see such high staff engagement. In quality teaching rounds this week, I was thrilled to observe the learning in a Kindergarten classroom this week. It was amazing to see the students using mathematical language to describe how they were solving their maths problems. It made me very proud to know that quality lessons are being delivered by quality teachers. It was even more amazing to see that apart from mathematical language, I observed the use of Gumbaynggirr language, sign language and PBL language used by the teacher and students. I know these observations are taking place every week and our commitment to quality teaching rounds, which has a representative from each stage, is not only benefiting the students, but all the teachers as well. Your child’s class teacher would be more than happy to discuss what they do in these rounds if you’d like more information. What a wet day for the Mid North Coast cross country! I’m sure all the students ran faster to make sure they got out of the rain. Mr Schultz accompanied the students and a report will be placed in next week’s newsletter. Enjoy your weekend. Brad Lyne - Principal Yarn Up Meeting The next Yarn Up meeting will be held Wednesday, 24th May 2017 in K/1F classroom. PBL Update This week Miss Adams attended a PBL conference, where she shared Boambee Public School’s journey into PBL, with schools from Taree to Tamworth and Northern NSW attending. The PBL team, and staff at Boambee, have been working hard to implement PBL, and teachers present at the conference were impressed with the work Boambee has done, including new signage and creating systems that will support students to be Safe, Respectful, Learners. Well done, to all staff and students at Boambee, for such a great effort and commitment to growing PBL. At today’s Stage 2 and 3 Assembly, a student from each class was awarded a certificate for demonstrating Safe behaviours, which was our PBL focus this fortnight. Well done to those students who received an award today! Stage 1 and Kinder will be presenting their awards for being Safe, at the next Assembly. Cheers from The PBL Team. 1/2N won the Joey this week Some very confident students from 1/2N volunteered to host the assembly last Friday with no notice or rehearsal. They did an amazing job. Well Done to Amali Te Skinner, Coco Lindsay and Rhiley Bunn!
