MONTH OF AUGUST PFC Nalukwago

Beast Report Page 2

This is supposed to be the hottest month of the year. August is the month for travel before

everyone goes back to school. The summer is soon coming to an end. The school year is about

to begin. I am not ready to say goodbye to summer yet. This means it is time to get in your

last minute summer trips and find a fun place to spend the last few days. However, one has to

be mindful of their surroundings. Do not forget to keep an eye on your belongings as thieves

are at an all time high during this travel season. Walking with a vast amount of cash or valu-

ables is not advised. I know some hotels do offer safe locks for your valuables but that should

not mean you should parade around with your valuables. Have a phone book just in case your

phone goes missing. Keep your passports and identification cards in a very secure place. I will

always stress this - have a plan in place for such cases.

I know we get safety briefs before every weekend but I will stress this more. Germany is now

upgrading its speed cameras on the road. Make sure you are driving the speed limit at all

times.

For those of you who like to get last minute travel; do not forget to check out MWR for Kaiser-

slautern and Baumholder. They have awesome trips but they are selling out first.

It is also PCS season. For those who are leaving, we are sad to see you leave. I am sure you

are going to do excellent work at your next duty station.

This month, we had the honors of seeing one for our sergeants get promoted to Staff Sergeant.

Congratulations to SSG Williams. We know you will continue to do great things in the army.

I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate CPT Burgett on her wedding. We wish you

all the best.

LESS YOU, MORE OTHERS By SSG Willis

Beast Report Page 3

Everyday life can be stressful and demanding, especially in the Military life. The

constant moving every three or four years, the long hours at work, the TDY or TCS away

from family, and the time that you have to put in even when you are at home are just

some of the stresses that are put onto Soldiers. When this stress hits you it also hits your

family. It will come to a point when you have no more time to give and you will need help

from others to complete whatever task is in front of you. Depending on how you treat

others up to this point is how they are going to respond to your need for help.

If you have time to spare help someone in need, if you have unneeded items that you

don’t use donate to those that do need them, if you have a spare dollar give to those that

are poor, if you have spare hope, joy, love help lift someone that is down. Ensure that as

you deal with others in your day to day life, do so with respect, courtesy, and profession-

alism because one day you will need that helping hand. Don’t think that you will never

need help, we all need help is some form or fashion during our lives.

EUROPA PARK By SPC Chandler

The trip to Europa Park was a huge success. Soldiers and families

were able to enjoy the day at the park at a low cost which was

sponsored by the unit. Everyone seemed to find their own

amusement, be it the relaxing rides or the thrilling roller coasters.

Regardless the park offered rides for all ages, and there are so

many to choose from that one day just wasn’t enough. After the

day was complete I asked my son if he had a good time and he

said that he had a blast; he still thinks for some reason we went

to Disney Land. I enjoyed organizing this trip for everyone and I

would love to do it again another time. There are so many more

destinations to choose from like Lego Land, Tropical Islands, Holi-

day Park, etc. The options are endless in Europe, so don’t wait

until it’s to late… Get out and explore!

CARROT CAKE BY SPC Klokun

Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

YIELDS: 8 servings

STEP 1:Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly oil a 9” round cake pan. Set cream cheese on counter if you haven’t already done so (to make sure it’s at room temp when you need it). Peel and shred

carrots if you haven’t yet done so. In a small dish, mix together Ener-G Egg Replacer and warm

water until thoroughly combined; set aside.

STEP 2:In a large bowl, combine carrots, raisins, walnuts, shredded coconut, almond flour,

sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg.

STEP 3: Add in maple syrup, egg replacer mixture and coconut oil until batter is even. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread out evenly. Bake for 40-50 minutes until the center has

cooked through (toothpick comes out clean). Cake should be golden brown.

STEP 4:Remove cake from the oven and let cool completely before frosting.

STEP 5:To make the frosting, sift powdered sugar into a bowl with cream cheese. Add vanilla

and one teaspoon of non-dairy milk; beat until smooth and creamy. If frosting is too thick, add ½ tsp of milk at a time until desired consistency is reached. Reserve ¼ cup of frosting for carrot decoration, if desired. Spread remaining frosting on top and around the sides of the cake. Gar-

nish sides and edge with extra nuts if desired. Using reserved frosting and food coloring, add

carrot decoration in center of cake if desired.

INGREDIENTS: 2 Tbsp Ener-G Egg Replacer ½ cup warm water 1 cup shredded carrots ½ cup raisins

½ cup chopped walnuts (or any other nut) + 1½ additional cups for decorating, if desired ½ cup shredded coconut

1½ cups almond flour (packed) ½ cup evaporated cane sugar ½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt 1 tsp cinnamon J tsp allspice (optional) 1 tsp freshly ground nutmeg (optional)

½ cup maple syrup 4 Tbsp coconut oil, melted 8 oz vegan/gf cream cheese, room temperature

4 cups vegan powdered sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-2 tsp non-dairy milk

This is SPC Gordiychuk Andre. He was born in Kiev, Ukraine, USSR. He has a

Bachelor's degree in Economics, and Master's in Finance and Business Ad-

ministration. Prior to joining the Army he worked in corporate finance for

about 10 years. He is married and has three daughters (age 8, 5 and 3).

He enjoys music, playing and watching soccer and lifting weights. In June

2014 he graduated from AIT as a Distinguished Honor Graduate. At this mo-

ment he has not yet established long term goals with the US Army, he would

like to experience the real Army life at least for one year before making any

kind of conclusions, whether he should try to commission, stay enlisted or to

go back to the corporate world. For the short term his goal is to get estab-

lished in Kaiserslautern area and bring his family over here. Professionally he

always sets high goals for himself, so he would like to learn his job responsi-

bilities and then all functions and procedures of our detachment office as

quickly as he can.

We would like to welcome SPC Ana Lacaden to Bravo Detachment.

She was born in the Philippines and migrated to the United States in

2009 and lived in Phoenix, Arizona. She joined the Army on Septem-

ber 3rd, 2013. She went to Fort Jackson for both Basic Combat

Training and Advanced Individual Training. Her first duty station is in

Kaiserslautern, Germany. She has a Bachelors degree in Banking

and Finance. She is married and enjoys shopping and traveling with

her husband.

PFC Messouli was born in Morocco Marrakech. He graduated high

school in Morocco then decided to move to Seattle, Washington to pursue his education. He went to Seattle Central Community Col-lege to study Business Administration, graduated in 2013. He

enlisted in the Army under the Mevani program for his ability to speak multiple languages. He is a highly motivated PFC who wishes to accomplish everything at the same time. He enjoys

playing tennis and soccer, and his favorite soccer team is FC Bar-celona.
