Show Partners what Azure can do

Background: at this morning’s SPC to demonstrate & experience mobile first cloud first, Kok Ping got a Breakfast Ordering app powered by Microsoft Azure & loaded on Windows 8.1 Pro on a Surface Pro 3 that our partners used to place orders, direct them to the aisle to our SLT who donned chef outfits and served the breakfast selected to our partners.

What’s IT About? Built by Heulab in 2 weeks, hosted on Microsoft Azure, it’s a great example with business analytics of which item on the menu was the most popular with partners and social media sentiments that tracked the number of positive/negative comments on the cloud with the #hashtag to a social media pulse of photos and thoughts posted at the Singapore Partner Conference.

Why IT Matters? this example is a great showcase of what’s possible with the mobile first, cloud first world we live in

Buddy Partners with a SMB P-Seller for Azure

Background: While SMB now has 2x SMB Azure GoToPartners who’ve committed to Cloud Platform Competency in FY15. They still lack experience

in web services development.

What’s It About? I’m glad to announce that Azure ISV PSeller for SMB engagements will be delivered by Kwang Eng (98766970) of init Service

Technology. This is intended to help both customers and partners who need onsite support of a pre-sales nature (NON deployment). You can

engage him to go on customer visits with a partner or to qualify a fresh opportunity, especially in cases where prospect insist on a Microsoft

representative initially or when a customer really wants to handle deployment in house but needs our help to understand how to use and what to

buy. This is NOT to replace partner led opportunities or hand hold a partner on their deployments or post sales technical support, it’s strictly pre-

sales.

How’s IT Utilized? As he is funded at SGD200/visit, it is highly recommended that you leverage him on pre-sales engagements involving

• All Azure services requirements (NON VMs, IaaS I expect all partners to self-experience)

• Fresh SMB prospects without partner engagement

• Qualified partner led engagements where partner needs Azure expertise beyond their experience

Post visit, he will send a Trip Report to me and I’ll work with PSEs to determine which partner to forward the lead to. In cases where our partners

really do no possess the necessary skills or experience, we’ll refer the sale & services to his company. When this happens he will forfeit the per

trip fee for the pre-sales engagement as we do not fund any of our partners for pre-sales work.

Why IT Matters? Supporting Azure Open License Launch, we’ve got to quickly ramp up and short cut our sales cycles to ensure we achieve our

SMB BHAG. This service is not long term, over time our resellers are expected to be self-sufficient and gain the knowledge, skills & experience to

sell Microsoft Azure services. Kwang Eng comes highly recommended by Peter Marini, he has performed Office 365 & Azure web deployment

services for MSFT APAC on the .NET platform.
