AZBio is the exclusive state affiliate in Arizona of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), the national association for biotechnol-ogy companies, a member of Advamed, the largest association representing medical de-vices, diagnostic products, and medical infor-mation systems manufacturers, and PhRMA, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufac-turers of America.
Our Industry Arizona’s Bioindustry is gaining momentum. 2012 marks year 10 in Arizona’s Bioscience Industry Road Map. In an initiative led by the Flinn Foundation, leaders from across the state have partnered to create a vibrant industry that is adding diversity and depth to Arizona’s economic landscape. From 2002 until today, bioscience jobs in Arizona grew 32%, the number of biosci-ence firms including research, manufactur-ing, testing, medical labs, and healthcare delivery systems grew 28% and research partnerships with the National Institutes for Heath increased 65%. Arizona bioscience organizations now generate $21 Billion in annual revenues and $765 Million in state and local taxes. Community investments statewide include 8 new bioscience incubators and accelerators, 14 new re-search institutes, 16 new bioscience schools/educational programs and the attraction of investments from global leaders in healthcare and the biosciences who have elected to locate or expand operations here. 90,000 bioscience workers now call Arizona “home.” Arizona’s impressive progress is not the result of short term thinking, one-time investments, or partisan politics. It is the result a community committed to working together to build a world-class research base, support commercialization efforts, and migrate the latest discoveries from the bench to the bedside and the field to the shelf in a manner that is both translational and transformational not just for our industry but for our community as a whole. We are AZBio and together with our members and supporters we are building Arizona’s future and gaining momentum.

Now in its ninth year of operation, AZBio has aggressive goals to reach in delivering value to the bioindustry that is gaining momentum in our state. To achieve these goals we must continue to garner community support in the form of grants, fee for service contracts, sponsorship, and active participation from our Members. In 2011, AZBio reinvested your support in ♦ New and improved marketing and web-

that we are accessible when YOU need us. ♦ Expanded resources for advocacy at the
