An AXIOM network consists of a number of “areas”, each managed byits own Wireless Area Controller (WAC). A serial cable connects eachWAC to a centralised PC. The PC regularly collects data from eachWAC, and also schedules polling and discharge tests.

Interconnecting CablesExtra Low Voltage unshielded datacable connects WAC to WAC, WACto PC, with the option of WAC toSPUs.

Trunk Cable – A standard CAT 5cable terminated with RJ45connectors (8P–8W). A 10–core flat cable may be used where the older style Commander AreaControllers exist in the network.

Branch Cable – Only used when RF communication is not possible. It connects from WAC to SPU, orfrom SPU to SPU. The cable is6–core and uses RJ12 (6P–6W)connectors.

RepeaterAn RF–enabled SPU without thelighting function. It is used toextend the range between a WACand its SPUs.

PCA customised desktop computer for continuous connection to theAXIOM network via an RS485interface.

AXIOM components

WACWireless Area ControllerCompact, wall–mounted device forthe collection and storage of localbranch SPU status. The WAC mustbe hard–wired in a daisy chain fromthe control PC to other WACs. Itcommunicates to SPUs via radiofrequency or may be hard–wired.

SPUSingle Point UnitEmergency light designed tooperate from mains and frominternal rechargable batteries. It is equipped with a small antennafor communication with its localmonitoring system.

Each system is unique. Select from a wide range of basic items todesign the appropriate system.

Where can I use AXIOM?

Small Projects: Office / WarehouseFor installations of less than 100units, AXIOM becomes more cost-effective because no data cablesare required. The control computermay not be necessary, if regularmaintenance testing is conductedusing a laptop.

Hi-rise Office blockThe traditional office block is wellsuited to AXIOM. A WAC is typicallyinstalled at the core of each level. The riser backbone combines alllevels into a single system.Wireless communication allowseasy relocation of AXIOM units, without the usual cost or damageof relocating the cables.

Retail Renovations of tenancies can becarried out without having cablescut accidentally. AXIOM unitscommunicate easily via RF in largeopen spaces, which eliminates theneed for scaffolding or other siteinterruptions.

IndustrialWireless communication is lesssusceptible to interference frommachinery or elevators, than datacabled or mains-borne systems.

Academic & heritagebuildingsA wireless installation meanssandstone walls or concreteceilings are preserved, with no unsightly cables to hide.Retrofit solutions are just as easy as new installations.

Medical, Airport &CommunicationsAXIOM is suitable for sensitive sites. The ACMA has tested its powertransmission at 0.45mW(permissible maximum is 3mW).AXIOM’s ability to poll itsemergency lights can also berestricted to infrequent or afterhours occurrence where RFrestrictions may apply.

“ Perfect for anyinstallation, AXIOM

adapts to your needs”

Multi-Building sitesRF transmission between buildingsis not guaranteed. However, modem or LAN interconnection can be considered where the layingof Cat 5 cables is not possible.

Multi-Site ApplicationsModem and LAN solutions can becustom engineered to monitor alllocal and national branch locationsfrom one central site.
