TAVERN PERFORMANCE
Some plans had been put in place for our school band the Axedale Rock-a-Roos, to perform at the Axedale
Tavern on December 16th as part of their Community Christmas event. A clash of dates with the Bendigo
Carols where our Choir is performing means the Tavern Performance is now not possible, due to our
ongoing annual commitment to the Bendigo Carols.
The School Choir are required to meet Mrs. Caldwell at the Rosalind Park Rotunda at 7.30pm.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
PRINCIPAL POSITION
As per the note attached to grade lists on Monday, Corrina Hartland has been appointed as the Acting
Principal from January 1st and for Term One next year.
The Principal position will be advertised during Term One to start Term Two.
The process for advertising and filling Corrina’s Grade 2/3 position for Term One has begun.
WELL BEING
My apologies to Ricky whose name I left off the note that came out on Monday outlining the school
structure for 2019. Ricky will be continuing in his current role in 2019.
STUDENT REPORTS
Student Reports will be sent home tomorrow.
Also coming home will be Learning Journals for younger students and Digital portfolios for older students.
While we know it is a very busy time of the year, we encourage parents to take some time with their children
to sit down and discuss the information shared and student work samples.
While we know the students tend to focus on ‘the dots’, when looking through your children’s reports, we
encourage you to discuss the comments, the areas for improvement and also take note of the progress of ‘the
dot’ over the last twelve months.
END OF YEAR ASSEMBLY
We will be holding our end of year assembly next Thursday 20th December @ 1.45pm. We will farewell Mr
J as part of this due to the family picnic being cancelled tonight.
ORIENTATION DAY
Our new Preps settled in really well on Tuesday and made a cheerful and busy start. Well done to our current
Preps who were outstanding as Gr. 1 leaders on Tuesday.
All students across all of their 2019 grade groups appeared to settle in well with their new classmates and have
made a positive start for their 2019 year ahead.
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
We will again be holding our Christmas Concert in the Axedale Hall. This year the concert will be on
Wednesday 19th December, will begin at 6.45pm and will run for approximately one hour. Our grades will
perform a number of Christmas items and we will also present a number of end of year awards. We are
hoping a special visitor arrives after the concert. Fingers crossed.
Students do not need to wear school uniform to the concert. ‘Christmassy’ clothes would be ideal.
ART SHOW
Lots of Artwork is up on display in our Assembly area. All students will have a number of items on display
so please take some time to have a look with your child and discuss their work.
LIBRARY BOOKS
We have a lot of books from the library which are missing. Can parents please check at home and return any
books ASAP for our library audit. Thanks for your help with this.
UNIFORMS FOR EMBROIDERY
Over the holidays, we are again offering families the opportunity to have new or old
uniforms embroidered with your family’s surname for $2.50 per garment. Thanks to
Sharon Hipwell who is co-ordinating this opportunity.
As the last day of school this year is an out of uniform day, uniform items for embroidery can brought along
in a bag, with surname clearly written on the bag or a tag, and left at the Office.
Contact Katrina or Sharon for further information.
MARC VAN BOOKS
Can all MARC van books please be returned to the office ASAP so Mrs Gentry can complete her stocktake
of books. Thanks for your assistance.
