Political Risk and Trade CreditOur offerOur offer includes CEND (Confiscation, Expropriation, Nationalisation & Deprivation), CCP (Construction Contractors Plant), contract frustration and trade credit, including non-payment and non-delivery by public and private obligors. It also includes exchange transfer, non-honouring of documentary letters of credit and the wrongful calling of on-demand bonds.

We also cover war on land and political violence in conjunction with the other perils written.

Asset risksWe protect fixed assets, including factories, mines and other industrial investments against expropriation and licence cancellation. We’ll also cover mobile assets, including heavy plant equipment, stocks of commodities and generator sets against confiscation and wilful destruction.

Maximum Line Size:Political Risks: US $60m | Trade Credit: US $30m

Contract risksWe protect against non-payment for goods or services provided to emerging countries and non-payment of letters of credit or guarantees offered by local banks or government entities. We also protect against the non-delivery of pre-paid goods or services. This typically relates to the delivery of basic primary commodities produced in emerging market countries.

Targeted marketsWe target business originating from trade finance banks, commodity traders, telecoms companies, exporters, construction companies and temporary power generators.We insure risks throughout the developing world and offer a long-term security of purchasing a non-cancellable policy with a policy period of up to seven years.

Construction

We specialise in operational cover for power and utilities risks, as well as insurance solutions for construction projects. These include: Contractors’ All Risks (CAR), Erection All Risks (EAR), Third Party Liability (TPL) and Advance Loss of Profit (ALOP) / Delay In Start-up (DSU) covers.

Operational Power/UtilitiesWe target a broad spectrum of risks, including: combined cycle, coal fired, diesel engine, hydroelectricity, solar, waste to energy, and wind turbine power plants. We also target utilities risks such as: water treatment plants, district heating /cooling systems and desalination plants.

Construction risksOur main focus is EAR in the power, oil and gas and traditional industries, and CAR in the public and private building sectors. We ensure that our participation is supported by technical risk management programmes aimed at loss avoidance and by close scrutiny of policy wordings. We tend to limit our involvement to projects with construction periods shorter than 60 months.We also offer cover flexibility; writing both quota share and excess of loss placements.

EnergyUpstream, Construction & LiabilitiesFrom development conception through to operation, we offer coverage for a broad range of energy asset types: operating platforms, shipyard owners, pipelines and sub-sea installations, mobile offshore drilling units, onshore rigs and contractor equipment.

MarineHull and WarWe provide a wide range of cover for the marine sector, including: cruise ships, oil tankers, gas carriers, bulk carriers, container vessels, tugs and supply vessels, as well as more specialist craft such as private mega yachts.

The scope of the hull and machinery coverage can include: all risks or named perils, increased value, loss of hire and loss of earnings, specialist craft extension, mortgagees’ interest, builders’ risks and towage risks. We also provide coverage for war and associated perils.
