171 AWARD WINNERS HOSTED IN THE heart of Zürich, Switzerland, the Concours d’Elégance Bürkliplatz is a celebration of impressive craftsmanship, engineering and history. All participating vehicles are carefully selected to create a rich tapestry of automotive competitors, covering a wide range of generations and themes. Around 50 cars are then invited to the Bürkliplatz Pavilion, where guests can take a closer look at these incredibly maintained machines. Proud owners are on hand to quench onlookers’ curiosity and indulge with like-minded enthusiasts. Several landmark anniversaries were celebrated at the 2019 event, with special awards to mark Abarth’s 70th birthday and Bentley’s centenary. An elegant Fiat Abarth Zagato 750GT Corsa impressed the crowds and judges alike, taking home the 70 Jahre Abarth prize. Bentley’s milestone year was encapsulated by a Bentley MkVI winning the 100 Jahre Bentley category. The Public’s Choice award put the spotlight on an American icon in the form of a Chevrolet Impala Convertible. It was voted for by guests, highlighting the popularity of this classic US model. Ultimate victory was taken by Kurt Kaiser’s Lancia Aurelia B24 S Spider America. Its beautiful Pininfarina bodywork and exceptional condition seduced judges, who awarded the Italian car Best of Show, claiming the coveted Zürich Classic Award.
