Avinci DX3200: Process Overview

1. Media enters› Textile media unrolls from

take-up shaft into the printer

› Roller bar and spreader roller

prevent creasing and ensure

flat printing surface

› Automated dancer bar

provides consistent tension

for uniform step size

2. Printing › Direct printing onto media

› User profile decides the

speed and quality of

printing, as well as other

specialized settings

3. Drying› Printed media passes

under heater, which

accelerates the rate of

curing and reduces the

likelihood of smearing

4. Media exits› Media passes over an

additional tension roller bar

and spreader roller and re-

rolls into receiving shaft for

sublimation or storage

443

Page 12: Avinci DX3200 tech specs - Agfa

Avinci DX3200: Process Overview

5. Off-line sublimation(Different from Ardeco “in-line” sublimation)

– Printed media is exposed to heat and pressure in sublimation calendar or heat press

– Polyester pores open and absorb ink

– Klieverik or Monti Antonio sublimation unit recommended

– 190oC and 40s sublimation condition guarantee uniform color over whole length with max few % media shrinkage

6. Finishing

– Cutting (manual or cutter)

– Sewing

– Hole-punching, grommeting,…

– Framing and other processes can be

required for soft-signage applications

444

Features

Avinci DX3200

Page 14: Avinci DX3200 tech specs - Agfa

1. Automatic capping and home positioning› Guarantees stable maintenance of print-heads and ensures output quality

› Distilled water to be filled 0,5cm below top of hoses and to be regularly checked, especially in summer

› Make sure that hosting is parallel with shuttle and no air is touch with heads at home position

2. Automatic heads cleaning› Easy head maintenance by clicking a button in GUI

recommended before printing starts

› Cleaning during printing (also when printer is off) – on demand defined by user (0-60mins)› Distilled water to be changed max every 4th cycle

3. Automatic spitting › Every second pass - prevents nozzles from clogging

› Wiping 2s – Spitting 250 drops › For smaller images instead of spitting,

right color bar can be used – but not recommended

› Color bar on left side always available

Avinci DX3200 - Features

446

Page 15: Avinci DX3200 tech specs - Agfa

4. Carriage height adjustment • Height of printing adjustable via the GUI

or manually if necessary Normally should not be touched by an operator!!

• Can print on a wide range of textile thicknesses,up to 5mm (still to follow up)

5. Pressure sensor gauge and degassing system› Venturi system together with degassing guarantees stable heads operation and keeps

meniscus at the same level without air bubbles

› Not stable and needs to be checked daily by the operator!!!

6. Crash prevention and safety sensorsshould always be on!!!!

› Prevent carriage crush caused by media wrinkles, or any obstacle

› Carriage will stop when crash sensors or front/rear safety sensors are triggered during operation

› Printer requires restart after activation of sensor to prevent equipment damage or harm to personnel

Avinci DX3200 - Features

447

Page 16: Avinci DX3200 tech specs - Agfa

Avinci DX3200 - Features

Air pressure gun (mounted beside take-up shaft) and

inflatable rubber grips to hold roll in place during printing

448

7. Automatic media tension control system• Servo motor together with dancer bar guarantees accurate and stable fabric feeding with

high speed Roll to Roll printing

• When loading media servo motor off

• Normal ITV pressure for dancer bar should be 280

8. Aluminum unwinder/re-winder axle• Capable of sustaining a load of up to 100 kg of 3.2m media without bending

• Includes lengthwise ruler for precise media placement

9. Air pressurized take-up shaft • Helps accurate and safe media feeding

10. Media-end sensors • Guarantee minimum media loss

11. Spreader-rollers• Guarantee wrinkle-free media transport

Page 17: Avinci DX3200 tech specs - Agfa

Avinci DX3200 - Features

449

12. Pre-heater › Media is warmed to relax pores and create

enhanced image– Temperature adjustable up to 120oC,

but 80oC recommended

14. Dryer for pin-fixation› IR lamps in combination with fans ensure that

inks are cured and no set-off occurs (smearing on printer rolls)

› Temperature adjustable up to 120oC, but 70-80oC recommended

13. Gutter sponge › Used for mist catching

– Very important for flag printing and all mesh applications

– Needs to be only few mm bellow the substrates

15.Re-winder › Torque motor

› 0 = automatic mode used during printing› I or II = manual mode used for media loading

Page 18: Avinci DX3200 tech specs - Agfa

16. Maximum media print width of 320 cm edge-to-edge

17. Intuitive User Interface

• Easy operation with newly adopted User Interface

Avinci DX3200 - Features

Intuitive GUI interface for

workflow management

and printer information

Touch screen monitor, housed

on pivoting arm for convenience

Manual user controls for

media regulation
