We welcome you to Duesseldorf It is my great pleasure that the Aviation Event is making a stop at our airport this year Our industry is looking at a year of fast and ne-ver-before-seen change and Duesseldorf is a symbol of what has happened in air traffic in the past 12 months since Air Berlinrsquos insol-vency filing Just like many other places of business we had to compensate for the loss of the second-largest German airline while minimising the consequences on our mutu-al clients - open-heart surgery with a good ending

Today for the most part the airline market has sorted itself but thatrsquos not enough We still have to face issues like digitalisation air safety the effects of Brexit on our industry and the future of low-cost long-haul routes to name a few Therersquos much to discuss Air traffic never stands still And thatrsquos a good thing Itrsquos time to discuss and define possible solutions at the Aviation Event
