2pm: MeanEnsemble: Raymond Scott's Perfect Musical World, presented by Irwin ChusidAnyone who has watched a classic Warner Bros. cartoon (or Ren & Stimpy) has heard the novelty jazz melodies of composer/musician Raymond Scott. He was also a pioneer of electronic instrument development in the 1950s & '60s and wrote some of the first electronic advertising jingles for TV. The MeanEnsemble, a 9-piece band based in Norway, produced a bizarre concert version of Scott's musical legacy, blending his "cartoon-jazz" and commercials with absurd comic choreography and props. Titles include "War Dance for Wooden Indians," "Powerhouse," "Twilight in Turkey," "The Penguin," "VimDetergent," "County Fair Bread," "Lightworks Cosmetics," and more. Screening presented by WFMU's Irwin Chusid, Director of the Raymond Scott ArchivesAV LOUNGE

4pm: Blank Generation: Vintage Punk on Film presented by Russell Scholl"Punk is not dead. Punk will only die when corporationscan exploit and mass produce it" (Jello Biafra). Whether or not it's been co-opted since, tonight local film/video archivist Russell Scholl fills the big screen with an hour of rare vintage Punk performances. Think Summer of '77 (and then some). London. New York.

L.A. The real stuff. Rare film footage of, and early music videos by—the Pistols / Velvets / Dolls / Iggy / Dead Boys / Ramones /Jam / Slits / X —and much more!AV LOUNGE

5:30pm: Fake Beatles Phenomenon, presented by Gaylord FieldsAfter The Beatles conquered the U.S. in 1964, several enterprising record labels decided they needed to exploit this musical fad before it all went crashing down. But how do you sell Beatle records without Beatles? This lecture and audiovisual presentation will explore when groups suspiciously calling themselves things like The Buggs, The Weasels, and The Liverpools, outfitted with tuneless versions of Fab Fourhits and cover art cleverly designed to fool the most gullible of kids and their myopic gift-giving grannies, allowed phony Beatlemania to rear its mop-wigged head. Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Nope!AV LOUNGE

6pm: Highlights from The Internet Museum of Flexi / Cardboard / Oddity Records with MACTABLE R11 (southeast corner)

Sunday, November 24:

10am: Telstar: the Joe Meek StoryThis biopic shows the story behind hits like “Telstar,” “Johnny Remember Me,” and “Have I the Right?” The film follows infamous and revolutionary producer Joe Meek from his early days at his home-built studio at 304 Holloway Road through his rise and eventual fall, concluding with his violent demise. Con O’Neill plays Meek in a role he originated on the West End stage. Kevin Spacey stars as Meek’s moneyman, Major Wilfred Banks.AV LOUNGE

12 noon: Double feature! Below the Brain & IconEye, plus Q&A with director Tony LoweBelow The Brain is an experimental documentary that maps a journey through the 2010 Caribbean Carnival in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Estimated to be the largest parade in the USA, Brooklyn Carnival is an unparalleled and kaleidoscopic explosion of Island culture. Utilizing raw footage from a team of young filmmakers, the film chronicles almost 40 continuous hours of "bacchanal", from the all night J'ouvert ritualsto the transgressive explosion of color and bodies during the Labor Day Parade.Icon Eye is an impressionistic chronicle of the 2011 collaboration between legendary dub reggae group The Congos and the LA-based project Sun Araw. Secret moments from the studio, fishing villages, late night dances, abandoned hotels and The Congos’ yardcarry a feeling of magical, rhythmic synchronicity.

AV LOUNGE

1pm: Live music from BlowflyBROADCAST SPACE

2:15pm: BANANAZZZ, plus Q&A with the band's 'enigmatic genius' frontman Craig Evanhalen, director Kate Sweeney and legendary impresarioMel Diamond!BANANAZZZ tells the story of Craig Evanhalen, a self-proclaimed "enigmatic genius" with the hunger and finances for stardom that starts a "punk" band. However, his giant ego, delusions and insecurity drive him and his band into chaos.AV LOUNGE

3pm: Corporate FMThe medium of radio becomes threatened when there are only 2 stations worth listening to. When live local voices are replaced with prerecorded and satellite programs, it ends an age-old symbiotic relationship between radio and the community. By investigating how the financial system gutted commercial radio instead of growing it, documentary film-makers Kevin McKinney & Jill McKeever reveal a new way that could revitalize the medium and rejuvenate the communitiesthat radio is there to serve.AV LOUNGE

3pm: Live music from Jeffrey Lewis and the RainBROADCAST SPACE

4:15pm: Andrew Bird: Fever YearFilmed during culminating months of the acclaimed singer-songwriter’s most rigorous year of touring, Andrew Bird crosses the December finish line in his hometown of Chicago – feverish and on crutches from an onstage injury. Is he suffering hazards from chasing the ghost of inspiration? Or merely transforming into a different kind of animal “perfectly adapted to the music hall?” Fever Year is the first to capture Bird’s precarious multi-instrumental looping technique and features live performances at Milwaukee’s Pabst Theater with collaborators Martin Dosh, Jeremy Ylvisaker, Michael Lewis and Annie Clark of St. Vincent.

AV LOUNGE

5:30pm: Be Glad For the Song Has No EndingJoin the Incredible String Band on a mystical mystery tour of the strangest parts of weird Britannia. This combination concert film and fantasy exploration was originally produced for BBC's Omnibus Arts Programme, but was deemed too bizarre for broadcast. Is it too strange for WFMU? If you answer this riddle, you'll never begin.AV LOUNGE
