CONGHAM LIFE Life in Norfolk Autumn 2014 www.conghamhallhotel.co.uk / T 01485 600250 A welcome transformation for spa gardens at Congham Hall Thanks to the careful planning of Bryone Dillow, the Spa garden has been completely transformed this year. Each one of the four beds in the symmetrical garden were planted as a mirror image of the other three. In a similar way to how an interior designer works with sketches and mood boards, Bryone set about creating her vision for the beds of wild flowers of varied heights and colours, such as Verbena Bonariensis, Lavender Hidcote, Gaura and Nicotiana. Why not pay us a visit and see for yourself what a glorious garden we now have, but you’ll need to be quick! Literary Lunch with crime author Elly Griffiths Our friends Rachel (who painted our deer picture in the hallway and the prints in the bathrooms of our Garden rooms) and Sarah at Pinkfoot Gallery are hosting Peter Wileman’s latest exhibition, Norfolk & Beyond, this autumn from 26th October to 9th November with Peter in attendance for the opening of the exhibition. The Pinkfoot Gallery is on the stunning North Norfolk coast in the village of Cley next the Sea. The gallery specialises in Modern British Nature Art and always has a wide range of paintings and sculptures on view. Together with their array of interesting works this will make a trip up to the beautiful coastline well worth a visit (see below; Blakeney from Morston, Dawn, 50 x 60cm oil on canvas by Peter Wileman). For info, visit www.pinkfootgallery.co.uk Norfolk and beyond We are delighted to announce that Elly Griffiths is coming to Congham Hall on Thursday 16th October. Born in London, she studied English at King’s College London and worked in publishing for 15 years. She wrote four books (under her real name, Domenica de Rosa) before her husband’s career change inspired her to adopt a new literary name and write about forensic archaeologist Dr Ruth Galloway. The first Ruth book ‘The Crossing Places’ won the Mary Higgins Clark award and two Ruth books have been shortlisted for the Theakston’s Crime Novel of the Year. The sixth book ‘The Outcast Dead’, published in 2014, was a Sunday Times best seller. Tickets for this ‘one-off’ event are £30 and include a drinks reception hosted by the author, a two course lunch with wine and coffee followed by a talk by Elly on her life and her books set in Norfolk. To book, please call reception on 01485 600250. At Congham Hall we certainly mean business We have noticed more and more local companies using Congham for business meetings this year and, thanks to Right Anglia in Norwich, we have hosted some great team building events from CSI crime evenings to racing Segway scooters. The Writing Room seats up to 18 people around a board room table or bigger meetings can be organised when taking all 26 bedrooms.
