Carol A. Dahir, Ed.D., is professor and
the chair of the School Counseling De-partment at the New York Institute of Technology. Dr. Dahir works exten-sively with state departments of educa-tion, school systems, school counselor associations, and national organizations on developing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive school coun-seling programs. For the past 3 years she has facilitated experiential summer programs for school counselors, teachers, and graduate students in cultural competence both in New York City and in Turkey. Her Fulbright brought her to Japan where she is assisting in bringing Transformed School Counseling to Japanese counselor educators. She is a past president of New York State School Counselor Association and served on the governing boards for the American School Counselor Association and the National Career Development Associa-tion. Carol Dahir continues to focus her writing, research, and presentations on accountability, comprehensive school counseling programs, principal-counselor relationships, cul-tural competence, and continuous improvement for school counselors. Carol Dahir is the co-author of ASCA’s Sharing the Vision:
The National Standards for School Counseling Programs
and Vision into Action: Implementing the National Stan-
dards. Together with Dr. Carolyn Stone, they have published
two editions of The Transformed School Counselor (2006;
2012) and three editions of School Counselor Accountability:
A MEASURE of Student Success (2004; 2007; 2011).
