BOTH SUPERPOWERS WANTED TO SPREAD THEIR IDEOLOGIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

THE USA HAD A DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT AND A CAPITALIST ECONOMY, WHEREAS THE USSR HAD A COMMUNIST POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC SYSTEM IN PLACE.

CAPITALISM

WHAT IS CAPITALISM?

IS AN ECONOMIC SYSTEM THAT IS BASED ON PRIVATE OWNERSHIPOF THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION AND THE DISTRIBUTION OF GOODS, CHARACTERISZED BY A FREE COMPETITIVE MARKERT AND MOTIVATED BY PROFIT.

CAPITALIST IDEOLOGY THE MAIN IDEOLOGY BEHIND CAPITALISM IS THE BELIEF

THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH SOME PEOPLE BEING VERY RICH, AND OTHER PEOPLE BEING POOR.

THE POSSIBILITY OF MAKING A PROFIT MOTIVATES PEOPLE TO WORK HARDER.

INDIVIDUALS OWN PRIVATE PROPERTY. IN CAPITALIST COUNTRIES, THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT

CONTROL THE ECONOMY. THE RIGHTS OF INDIVIDUAL WHO OWN HUGE INDUSTRIES

AND GATHER GREAT WEALTH ARE PROTECTED WHILE OTHER PEOPLE REMAIN POOR.

CAPITALIST GOVERNMENT MAY BE DEMOCRATIC BUT ARE SOMETIMES FASCIST.

COMMUNISM

WHAT IS COMMUNISM IT IS A DOCTRINE THAT ADVOCATES A

CLASSLESS SOCIETY IN WHICH PRIVATE OWNERSHIP HAS BEEN ABOLISHEDAND THE MEANS OF PRODUCTION BELONG TO THE COMMUNITY. COMMUNIST COUNTRIES ARE OFTEN ONE-PARTY STATES IN WHICH INDUSTRY AND AGRICULTURE ARE CONTROLLED BY THE STATE. THE GOVERNMENT CONTROLS MOST ASPECTS OF A PERSO’S LIFE.

ALL THE WEALTH IN THE COUNTRY. THEY BELIEVE THAT THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD RULE KIN

THE INTERESTS OF ALL, NOT JUST THE RICH. THE WEALTH SHOULD BE SHARED EQUALLY BETWEEN

PEOPLE. THE COMMUNIST ECONOMY IS CENTRALLY PLANNED TO

MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS ECONOMIC QUALITY. NO ONE CAN OWN PRIVATE PROPERTY OR MAKE PROFIT. THE STATE OWNS ALL LARGE INDUSTRIES AND OTHER

SOURCE OF WEALTH. COMMUNIST GOVERNMENT THEY ARE NOT USUALLY

AUTHENTICATION OF THE LESSONHence authentic task are real world perform real-world tasks , this lesson is going to compare Cold War to South African political parties, this shows relevance on how learners can understand Cold War, it will give them understanding and knowledge as well. This lesson is about the events that took place in Europe and, therefore learners do have the Pre-knowledge of this events but this lesson can be contextualized or compared to what is currently happening in South Africa between the ruling party (African Nation Congress) and the opposing party (Economic Freedom Fighters), this too political parties have different ideologies; the Anc beliefs in democracy, and the eff on socialism. They use propaganda and words in order to preach to the citizens and at some point it would have turned into being a hot warm war in parliament when the Economic Freedom Fighters were chased out of Parliament by force.

CONTEXTUALISING

ANC IDEOLOGIES The ANC is a national liberation movement. It was

formed in 1912 to unite the African people and spearhead the struggle for fundamental political, social and economic change.

The ANC's key objective is the creation of a united, non-racial, non-sexist and democratic society.

This means the liberation of Africans in particular and black people in general from political and economic bondage. It means uplifting the quality of life of all South Africans, especially the poor.

EFF IDEALOGIES ECONOMIC FREEDOM FIGHTERS is a radical and militant

Economic Emancipation Movement which brings together revolutionary, fearless, radical, and militant activists, workers’ movements, non-governmental organisations, community based organisations, lobby-groups under the need to pursue the struggle for economic emancipation.

The EFF is a radical, Left, anti-capitalist and anti-imperialist movement with an internationalist outlook anchored by popular grassroots formations and struggles. EFF will be the vanguard of community and workers’ struggles and will always be on the side of the people. EFF will, with determination and consistency, associate with the protest movement in South Africa, and will also join in struggles that defy unjust laws.

The EFF takes lesson from the notion that “political power, without economic emancipation is meaningless”.

The EFF subscribes to the Marxist-Leninist and Fanonian schools of thought on its analysis of the State, imperialism, class and race contradictions in every society.

CONFLICT: THE USE OF PROPAGANDA

Using the information above and the textbook learners are going to design a poster with relevant pictures ,the poster is going to show the principles of both the Capitalist and Communism ideologies.

Using the information above and the textbook learners are going to make oral “drama” presentation, it should be based on two political parties that have been explained, they should illustrate how does those two South African parties conflict and how it can be similar to Cold War.
