Autec Training Limited Training 4 Industry
Autec Training Ltd are a health and safety training organisation based in
Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and have been in the safety and training industry for over twenty years. We are very versatile and proud of our reputation with the many National, International and localised companies we
deal with, as well as the numerous private individuals trained at our centre each year. We’ve gained our reputation with hard work, quality training and excellent results.
According to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, it is a legal requirement
for all employers to ensure their employees have received adequate health and safety training.
Information, instruction, training and supervision are necessary to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety at work of all employees.
All personnel must be properly trained to operate plant and machinery and be authorised to operate the same. All training must be documented and records
kept. The easiest way for an employee to show evidence of training on the spot, is for them to carry, at all times, a recognisable personal registration card showing their training achievement.
Autec offer a wide range of practical and theory courses that can be carried out
at our training centre in Peterborough and on site anywhere in the UK. All of our training is conducted by professional and qualified instructors.

Construction Plant Training & Assessment
We will train you towards obtaining your CPCS – NPORS card
CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme)
NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme)
This course is intended for all operators or trainees who are 16 years of age and over, who are medically fit, and need to operate construction plant and
machinery during the normal course of their work. Increasingly, clients and employers are demanding proof of competency from
all operatives on their sites. A more competent workforce will also make the industry more efficient and create a safer working environment for all.
A CPCS or NPORS card proves to employers that you have both the skills and the practical experience to do the job effectively.
So you can prove what qualifications you have, the back of your card will list all the categories of plant which you are qualified to operate.
Key Benefits To You A safer workplace
Meets legal responsibilities Cost saving through increased efficiency Reduced stock damage
Reduced machine damage Reduced maintenance costs
Reduced litigation exposure
Objectives
To enable operators to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to operate construction plant and machinery safely and efficiently in the workplace.
Train or assess candidates on plant machinery to a quality standard recognised & accepted by industry. Promote safe working practices and safe operation of equipment / machinery
in the work place. Operators Safety Code All training and assessments are carried out by qualified trainers or assessors
on site or in centre.
Courses Available
All types of Plant & Machinery training and testing is available to private individuals and construction industry operatives alike, whether you require a
refresher test, an on-site assessment, or full foundation training.
All training and testing is carried out by our time served experienced
instructors and examiners who have been actively involved in the construction industry for many years and whose wealth of experience will benefit you greatly.
Training and testing can be carried out at our training facilities or on customer's own sites subject to availability and suitability. As there are so many categories of plant & machines, and various schemes
under which this can be conducted, please telephone us for further information regarding your requirements.
Some of the courses we run at our training centre each week: 360 Tracked & 180 Wheeled Excavators, Dumpers (forward & rear tipping) Loading Shovels,
Access Platforms, Telescopic Materials Handlers, Rough Terrain Forklift. Duration
Both foundation training, experienced operator training and achievement tests, are available at our training programme. The duration of the training is
dependant on the type of machine, the candidate’s previous experience, if any, coupled with their own personal learning ability. For example, a 360* excavator course for an experienced operator may only take a day, a complete
novice or someone with very limited experience may require anywhere from 2 to 7 days. Telescopic Materials Handler is up to 5 days; Forward Tipping Site Dumper is up to 3 days.
On successful completion of the above you will be issued with a card complete with your photograph and National Insurance number on the front, and the categories of machine you are competent to operate on the reverse.

CSCS – Construction Skills Certification Scheme
CSCS was set up in the mid-90s with the aim of improving site workers’ competence to reduce accidents and drive up on-site efficiency. The Scheme keeps a database of those working in construction that achieve, or can
demonstrate they have already attained an agreed level of occupational competence. Successful applicants are issued with a card giving them a means of identification and
proof of their achievements. Cards are increasingly demanded as evidence of occupational competence by contractors, public and private clients and others, and today there are over 1.7 million cards in circulation.
The green card is available to operatives who carry out basic site skills only (e.g. Labourers).
The aim of this 1 Day CSCS Awareness & Test Training Course is to prepare delegates for
the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Health & Safety touch screen test and for the candidate to develop an understanding of construction health and safety for various occupations working in the industry. It will also enable them to improve their knowledge of
health and safety issues that apply to their particular area of work. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the course, delegates will understand:- Their duties/responsibilities under the current legislation;
How and why the construction industry continues to have a poor accident record; and how they can contribute to making the industry a safer place to work; Why employers need to set up safe systems of work; and why employees need to follow
these systems and obey site rules; That health and welfare issues are as important as safety. This will be emphasised as each
course topic is addressed. Using our equipment, candidates can then practice simulated tests many times over, in preparation for their touch screen test.
Eligible companies are able to claim grants for this training, which will pay for a substantial amount if not all of the training costs, as this course is CITB approved for grant
purposes.
This 1 day construction site safety awareness course costs £90 Cards cost £30, the Health, Safety & Environment Test is £17.50. Your card will be
valid for five years

Industrial Forklifts Are you suffering from damage to any part of your industry caused by forklift
trucks (buildings, plant, machinery, stock, equipment, people, etc)? Accidents causing death, serious injury and damage to stock and equipment are far too common due to forklift trucks.
Forklift Training has been proven to reduce operating costs as well as motivating the workforce. Don't put off training. Contact us today.
The Health & Safety Commission's Code Of Practice, RIDER OPERATED LIFT
TRUCKS - OPERATOR TRAINING, issued under the authority of the Health & Safety at Work Act, states that all employers must ensure that Forklift Operators are adequately trained.
Courses at our training centre At our fully equipped training centre we can provide courses on either
Counterbalance, Reach, Rough Terrain, Telescopic or Ride-On Pedestrian Stacking Forklifts. Courses are available all year round including Saturdays and Sundays and are available to business and private customers. (Weekend
rates may differ). Courses at our centre are a very flexible alternative to on-site training at your
premises. By sending your staff to us you can minimise workplace disruption and alleviate staff shortages.
Customers own premises Many employers choose on-site training, using the approach that staff are trained on the equipment they will actually be using and with the loads they
will handle. Up to THREE trainees of similar ability may be trained at the same time. If on-site training is preferred, our instructor will require the following
facilities to be in place:
A forklift truck in safe and sound working order, available for the complete duration of the course. The Forklift truck must also have an in date lifting (LOLER) certificate. A supply of stackable loads and empty pallets, set aside from the main working area and preferably under cover. Access to a room with electricity supply in which the theory sessions can be peacefully conducted. Uninterrupted attendance by all trainees throughout the entire course.
Untrained Operators
This course is designed for the forklift operator who has had extensive practical experience, (longer than 12 months), but has never been formally trained and
does not hold a licence. They will require a minimum of 3 days training, which consists of 2 days practical on the machine and 1 day theory in the classroom.
Novice Operators
Those who have had very little or no previous experience of operating forklifts
and have not received any formal training would normally require 4 to 5 days full foundation training. This consists of 3 to 4 days practical on the machine and 1 day theory in the classroom. Refresher
Re-tests can be carried out if you can show evidence of previous training or
certification. This course is designed to give the trained and certificated forklift operator whose licence is due for renewal, a one day refresher course and test,
to renew his/her licence. Licences are valid for five years.
Course contents and objectives:
At the end of the course, participants will be able to: Understand site safety and current legislation Get the best out of your forklift truck State the reasons for operator training, the responsibilities of operators to themselves and others including their legal duties Carry out the daily or take-over checks, complying with legal duties, before operating and state the parts of a lift truck requiring particular attention Predict and avoid specific hazards and potential dangers Identify all the controls and state their functions Understand rated capacity plates, load centres and define de-rating Understand lateral and longitudinal stability factors, causes and prevention. Stability triangle Safely start up and manoeuvre the truck in open and confined spaces Correctly pick up and put down empty and loaded pallets or unit loads at varying heights; understand and carry out "undercutting" correctly. Load assessment Understand safe operation and limitations of use Understand the operator’s safety code. Specific driving and operating rules for fork truck drivers Know how to respond in an emergency situation involving an Industrial Forklift. Safely park and stop truck at end of operating
On successful completion of the course the operator will be issued with a certificate and an operator’s card, complete with your photograph and National
Insurance number on the front, and the categories of machine you are competent to operate on the reverse. This card is renewable after 5 years by completing a 1 day refresher.

Written Company Safety Policies Site Safety Inspections Risk Assessments Method Statements
Safety auditing is a valuable management technique that is highly recommended by the Health and
Safety Executive (HSE). Indeed, HSE Guidance document HSG65 “Successful Health and Safety
Management” recommends that audits are undertaken annually to assist organisations to focus their
resources in areas of most need. Our auditing systems can be measured against HSG65 and OHSAS
18001 as well as measuring your status against legal compliance and your own internal standards.
We also produce Company Safety Policies and are able to carry out site safety inspections and risk
assessments on a weekly, monthly or annual basis.
Health & Safety Management Systems are effective tools to manage successfully and achieve legal
compliance.
What do Health, Safety & Management Systems do?
They provide a structure to improve and sustain your health, safety & environmental issues
They act as a proactive management tool to promote continual improvement
They will help you to achieve and maintain legal compliance as a minimum and best practice
where possible
What do we do?
We examine the 5 essential steps for successful management and outline areas for improvement:
1. Policy
2. Planning
3. Implementation
4. Checking and corrective actions
5. Management review
6. Examine existing arrangements (organisation, policies, procedures)
7. Focus on areas of improvement providing recommendations
An audit will show exactly how you measure up to legal requirements, and whether your performance is
up to standard. It will act as a benchmark from which you can form a health and safety plan.
Health & Safety Auditing & Management Systems
We write company Safety Policies, Method Statements and
Risk Assessments specifically tailored to your business
The Scope of an audit
Our auditor will examine your own management policies and procedures for securing health, safety and
welfare. This is supported by a tour of inspection which will help identify areas where new policies are
needed, and where existing procedures are not working effectively in practice. The audit will consider the
30 subject areas of health and safety (or as appropriate) described in the following model contents list:
