Guest Speaker: Daniel Lewry - Physiotherapist

Daniel has worked as a private practice physiotherapist now for over 6 years after graduating from

Charles Sturt University in 2013. He has had a broad range of exposure during this time and worked

with many different population groups. Daniel is proud to have been the physiotherapist for 4

seasons with the North Ballarat Football Club VFL team and he has also worked with some of

Ballarat's elite distance runners. Daniel is very passionate about helping people improve their

physical health through being more engaged in an active lifestyle. Educating people on the

importance of behaviour change when necessary and helping them understand the best pathway to

achieve their goals is part of this. Daniel is a GLA:D certified Physiotherapist (GLA:D is an

abbreviation for Good Life with Arthritis:

Denmark and is a program designed to

improve pain and function in those suffering

    from hip and knee osteoarthritis).

We will then continue toward Lara and visit the Kevin Hoffman Walk – A Native Garden Trail that

stretches along Hovells Creek. This is a gentle walking track that showcases a unique collection of

Native Plants, Sculptures, and Wildlife. Originally inspired by Kevin Hoffman and his family and

supporters, they have shaped this significant indigenous path since 1970 with its lush groundcovers,

    flowering Native trees & shrubs.

After we have had Lunch somewhere, (remember to bring a Cup, Plate, Knife and Fork), we

will continue on to the Brisbane Ranges and find out what is flowering there, at this time of year it

question and answer session, on ‘Gardens for Wildlife’, a network of community groups and

councils in townships and urban areas supporting each other to involve local residents, schools and

businesses to join in caring for the native plants and animals of communities. Its aims are to share

ideas and resources, link individuals who can help each other, and to provide workshops on how to
