Australian Pink diamonds are highly sought after by consumers, jewellers, collectors and investors thanks to their beauty, their value and their rarity. Australian Pink diamonds evoke a sense of romance and luxury, and they are a beautiful addition to any collection.

The colour of pink diamonds is a mystery. Other coloured diamonds get their hues from trace elements that are present during their formation. When it comes to pink diamonds, however, none of these trace elements have been found. This has led scientists to speculate that the colour may have resulted from some kind of seismic shock that altered the stone’s molecular structure. However the colour came about, it gives these beautiful diamonds a mysterious quality.

At Argyle Jewellers, we source our pink diamonds from the Argyle Diamond Mine, which is the world’s leading producer of pink diamonds. Located in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia, this mine is responsible for 90% of the world’s pink diamond supply. Australian pink diamonds are so rare that this only equates to 50 or 60 pink diamonds every year!

The Argyle Diamond Mine is set to close due to exhausted supply by the end of 2020. This means that these exceptionally rare pink diamonds are set to become even rarer, and the industry expects their value to dramatically increase as a result.

No other mine in the world produces pink diamonds with such depth of colour, vibrancy, tone and character. When you purchase an Australian pink diamond, you are purchasing the best pink diamond money can buy.

“If a pink diamond is not from the Argyle mine, it will generally sell for an average of 50% less than an equivalent Argyle certified Pink diamond.”

Since 1984, Argyle has presented their best diamonds at an exclusive, invitation-only tender for diamond and jewellery companies along with a select group of private investors.

OnlythefinestdiamondsarereservedfortheannualArgyleTender, whichis considered to be the most exclusive diamond sale in the world. This tender showcases the Australian pink diamonds that stand out due to their vibrancy, quality and colour intensity. Only a very limited number of these diamonds are offered for sale each year - and one of these priceless diamonds could be yours.

All pink diamonds belong to two categories of DNA:

T Y P E I I AThese types of diamonds come mainly from Africa, Russia, Brazil, Canada and India, and are identifiable by theabsence of nitrogen. This makes them appear whiter and cleaner than a standard colourless diamond.

T Y P E I AThis is the DNA type of Australian pink diamonds, and it meansthattheyappearfluorescentblueunderultravioletlight. This is the result of natural radiation from the surrounding rock layers of the Argyle Mine’s ore. This unique attribute makes Argyle pink diamonds the rarest and most valuable in the world!

The supply shortage of the Argyle Mine’s pink diamonds - along with rapidly increasing demand - means that they are one of the finestinvestment opportunities when it comes to medium-to-long-term capital gains. However - it is important to note that 92% of pink diamonds are NOT a good investment. To make sure that your purchase is a great investment, itisessentialthatyoupurchaseyourdiamondfromaqualifiedand experienced Australian diamond specialist.

R A R I T YInvesting in luxury items is on the rise, and Australian Argyle pink diamonds are some of the world’s most sought-after gems when it comes to serious investors. If you have ever thought about investing in a diamond, now is the optimum time, due to the closure of the mine. As we have mentioned, this mine is responsible for 90% of the world’s supply of pink diamonds, so this closure will dramatically decrease the availability of pink diamonds!

C A P I T A L G R O W T HSince 2005, pink diamonds have increased in value by approximately 362% (with a simple average growth of 27.8%) - and Type Ia Argyle Pink Diamondshaveexhibitedthemostsignificantincreases.

Pink diamonds experienced the most interest growth of all coloured diamonds. Over the last 15 years, the prices of pink diamonds have never dropped – and experts don’t believe they ever will.

According to Anna Cisecki, the executive director at diamond investment firm Australian Diamond Portfolio, the price of pink diamonds hasincreased by 500% over the last 20 years.

“Every year the price increases by a double-digit number. Our expectation is that the closure of the Argyle Mine will add upside pressure to the prices of

existing rare pink diamonds.”

— AnnaCisecki,ExecutiveDirectoratdiamondinvestmentfirm,AustralianDiamondPortfolio.

Pink diamond supply is very low (and getting lower), but demand remains very high. As per the basic rules of economics, this makes an investment grade Australian Argyle Pink Diamond a very sound asset.

When the time comes to resell your pink diamond, there are plenty of options for resale. You can sell privately, through an auction house, through Argyle Jewellers, or you can place your diamond on consignment with multiple experienced jewellers and/or brokers.

We recommend that you keep your pink diamond for at least 10 years if you want to see it’s true value. By that time, experts predict that there will be no new stock available.

All Argyle pink diamonds come with a Providence Report, which features a unique lot number and outlines the diamond’s carat weight, shape, clarity and colour. Without this report, there is no way to guarantee the authenticity of your pink diamond.

The Argyle Diamond Mine also laser inscribe all diamonds that are above 0.20 carats with a uniqueidentificationnumber.Thisinscriptionisa mark of authenticity, and represents the chain of custody that accompanies each diamond. Each laser inscribed Australian Argyle diamond comes with an Argyle Pink Diamonds Gem IdentificationDocument. When combined with the unique identification number, this document verifies thechain of custody from mine to customer.

P I N K D I A M O N D S : T H E F O U R C ’ SThe four C’s - Carat, Clarity, Colour and Cut - represent the four main components of a diamond’s beauty and structure. Even small imperfections in these factors can cause a significant decline indiamond value, so it is important that you understand the grading of your pink diamond in regards to these categories.

C O L O U RPink diamonds from the Argyle Mine have a distinctly radiant depth of pink colour

that is rarely found in pink diamonds from other countries (they tend to be more soft and pale). See page 12 for colour guide.

Because of this unique colouring, the Argyle Mine devised their own system for grading colour, and it differs from the industry-standard

colour guide set forth by the GIA (which you can see here).

Australian Argyle pink diamonds are divided into four main categories: PP (Purplish Pink), P (Pink), Pink Rosé (PR) and PC

(Pink Champagne).

There are also two extra categories, Blue Violet (BL) and Red. The diamonds are also graded based on their colour

intensity, with a number from 1 (the highest intensity) to 9 (the lowest).

The colour saturation of your pink diamond is one of the main factors in the price of your investment. As a rule for investing, look for a pink diamond that is a 1 to 6 P, PP or PR in colour. Lighter colours have had little appreciation in the past 5 years.

C U TThe cut of a diamond refers to its shape and the

quality of the cut. The GIA grades diamond cut on a scale of Ideal, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair and

Poor. The Ideal and Excellent grades are considered best for maximum brilliance. In the past 20 years of the

Argyle Tender, the rarest diamond shapes are Marquise (1%), Pear (2%), Heart (4%) and Cushion (4%).

The majority of Pink Diamond investors prefer to purchase a pink diamond with a well-established shape, so considering

a Fancy Shape (including Cushion, Radiant, Pear, Princess, Oval, Emerald, Asscher, Heart and Marquise) will strengthen your buyer audience.

C L A R I T YAdiamond’s ‘clarity’ refers tohowclean it is from inclusionsandblemishes.TheGIA grades for diamond clarity apply to Australian Argyle pink diamonds. They are as follows:

• Flawless (FL) – no inclusions or blemishes visible under 10 x magnification

• Internally Flawless (IF) – no inclusions and only blemishesvisibleunder10xmagnification

• Very, Very Slightly Included (VVS1 and VVS2) – inclusionsdifficultforaskilledgradertoseeunder 10xmagnification

• Very Slightly Included (VS1 and VS2) – minor inclusionsthatrangefromdifficult to somewhat easy for a skilled grader to see under10xmagnification

• Slightly Included (SI1 and SI2) – noticeable inclusions to a skilled grader under10xmagnification

• Included (I1, I2, and I3) – obvious inclusions under10xmagnificationthatmayaffect transparency and brilliance

C A R A TCarat refers to the weight of the diamond - not how large it is. A 1-carat diamond is 200 milligrams, or 0.2 grams. Depending on a diamond’s shape and cut, the size of 1-carat diamonds can vary. Although carat weight is important when purchasing a pink diamond, the overall appearance and brilliance are more significant. For example, a mediocre 1.5-carat diamondwill not gain as much attention as a stronger coloured or better clarity 1-carat diamond!

90% of all cut and polished Australian Argyle pink diamonds are smaller than 0.20 carat in size. If you’re looking for the best investment (and future returns) possible, we recommend that you invest in the exclusive 10% of higher carat diamonds.
