Global challenges 1.4 billion people live in extreme poverty 2.6 billion have inadequate sanitation 915 million poor people have unclean water 1.5 billion people live in fragile or conflict affected states Over 217 million people were affected by natural disasters in 2010. Every day
22,000 children die – mostly preventable diseases 1000 mothers die as a result of pregnancy or childbirth 25000 people die from malnutrition or starvation
