LATEST NEWS FROM IFSWelcome to the Summer edition of IFS World. I trust this finds you busy leading into our Summer holiday period, along with the Christmas and New Year Festivities.

Since our last edition, IFS has continued to demonstrate strong execution in our target sectors whilst also delivering sustained, strong growth. This continued growth has been achieved by our

success in providing attractive business solutions to our target markets, including mining and resources, offshore, EPCI, infrastructure, and service industries. We continue to invest to be able to deliver global projects to these sophisticated markets and therefore build upon our differentiation of being the ‘intelligent alternative’ to our larger generalist competitors.

Here in Australia and New Zealand, I am pleased to welcome all of our new customers who have chosen IFS across the last few months, including Pindan, Geraldon Port Authority and Mermaid Marine.

We are also very pleased to announce the launch of the new IFS Academy. As we continue to build and expand our service ecosystem, we aspire to provide customer choice and access to new markets, and above all, scalability to our business. This has been a significant investment to support this process with the creation of the IFS Academy, set up to provide partner training and certification.

Our offerings on Cloud were also further advanced with the launch of IFS Applications provided on the Microsoft Azure Cloud. The launch, which was made at Oracle Open World in

September, illustrates the support we are receiving from our community of partners in the market today. Our overall partner community — technology, infrastructure, integration, and services — now numbers in excess of 300 companies globally.

I have been tracking very closely the structural changes underway in Australia’s mosaic economy that directly affect individual industries and states. Key features include the challenge posed by the end of the long-running mining investment boom and the switch to new drivers of growth. Falling resource sector investment is taking its toll on domestic activity in Western Australia and hitting some industries, including technical services, hard. But a sustained period of low interest rates, combined with population growth, is boosting activity in the most heavily service sector oriented states (New South Wales and Victoria), as residential construction picks up and service industries begin to lift investment. Companies are showing sustained interest in the ERP market and those in need of consolidating their business solution or expanding its functionality are moving forward with their investments. The gradual improvement of the buying environment seen over the last couple of years is expected to continue. This leads industry analyst firms such as Gartner to anticipate the ERP market to grow in 2015 in the region of 6 to 7 percent.

Finally, a reminder that registration is now open for the IFS World Conference being held in Boston next May!

Thank you for your continued support. n

IFS announces that ASX-listed Mermaid Marine Australia Limited, Australia’s largest marine services provider to the offshore oil and gas

industry, has completed the initial imple-mentation of IFS Applications™. Benefits will include consolidating its marine and landside operations into a single integrat-ed ERP platform to support efficient processes, real-time decision making and mobile information access.

The initial implementation phase was completed on time and within budget in less than seven months. Key financial and operational processes have been stream-lined, including financials, procure to pay, cost management, asset management, job management, job recording and invoicing, and accounts receivable.

“Implementing IFS Applications has given us a single source of information across the business,” said Jon Fowler, ICT General Manager for Mermaid Marine. “We are improving the quality and timeli-ness of information so employees have real-time visibility of what is going on in the business to make better informed decisions.”

“With IFS, Mermaid Marine can now provide department managers with real-time and reliable information to better manage and plan their operations,” said Peter Raynor, Chief Financial Officer for Mermaid Marine.

Mermaid Marine is also planning future implementation phases to include: marine asset management; health and

safety, environment and quality; business development; and IFS Touch Apps for mobile device support. “IFS Touch Apps will help Mermaid Marine to capture information at its source to further drive efficiencies and remove the double or tri-ple handling of information,” said Fowler.

After a comprehensive evaluation of ERP solutions, Mermaid Marine selected IFS because of its ease of use, speed of implementation and superior support for offshore vessels. IFS demonstrated how it could achieve ABS compliance for vessels and provide offline access to maintenance systems. “All the key user groups were won over by IFS’s ease of use,” said Fowler. “It also got ticks for ease of con-figuration, and ongoing maintenance and support. We wanted to get up and running quickly, and with IFS we are now more self-sufficient.”

”We are very pleased to announce yet another successful implementation pro-ject, delivered on time and on budget,” said Rob Stummer, Managing Director at IFS Australia and New Zealand. “By working with some of the world’s leading companies in the oil and gas industry, we have accumulated robust industry experi-ence, which is reflected in our speedy deployments and in the IFS solution itself. We are convinced that Mermaid Marine will continue to benefit from the agility and scalability of IFS Applications, and we look forward to the continuation of our collaboration.” n

IFS announces that Pindan Asset Management, a new division of Pindan, one of the leading property and construction companies in

Western Australia, is implementing IFS Applications™ as a mobile-enabled Service Management, Asset Management and Enterprise Resource Planning solu-tion.

IFS and Pindan Asset Management are working in close partnership to achieve a three month delivery deadline for a mobile-enabled enterprise solution supporting a new Department of Housing maintenance works and services contract. Delivery includes tight integra-tion with the Department using Web ser-vices and XML for property information exchange, real-time visibility of work order status and automated invoicing.

Pindan Asset Management will also use IFS Applications to more efficiently manage its parent company’s asset port-folio, including residential and commer-cial properties as well as vehicles, plant and equipment. Efficiencies will come from applying the new mobile-enabled Service Management and Asset Management systems to replace existing manual processes within Pindan. IFS Applications will also provide Enterprise Resource Planning functions for the new division including Financials, Human Resources, Inventory and Procurement.

“IFS Applications’ ability to send work orders directly to a mobile device to keep our people working in the field is a big asset. We have already seen how we

can achieve a 20% improvement in field service resource utilisation compared with traditional methods,” said Stephen Arndt, General Manager for Pindan Asset Management. “We will also use IFS to develop inventory profiles for each particular area and fit out our vehicles as mobile warehouses so staff have the right parts at all times and don’t have to return to a branch office between jobs.”

Pindan Asset Management selected IFS ahead of competing vendors because of its rich mobile Service Management functionality, support for the ISO 55001 Asset Management standard, Windows mobile device support in line with Pindan’s corporate standard, proven abil-ity to implement solutions to tight dead-lines, and willingness to work in partner-ship with Pindan and its clients.

“Because our workforce may not always be in mobile range we needed a robust offline capability that worked well on a mobile device,” said Margaret Gauntlett, Business Systems Analyst for Pindan Asset Management. “We also wanted to work with a vendor, rather than a third party, that could implement a solution quickly and efficiently. IFS had a Perth office, its own in-house integra-tion team, and could demonstrate similar integrations with other customers. That gave us the confidence they could meet our requirements in a short space of time.”

“We are delighted to be working with Pindan Asset Management to implement a mobile-enabled Service Management

solution and support their certification to the ISO 55001 Asset Management Standard,” said Rob Stummer, Managing Director at IFS Australia and New Zealand. “We are confident that the com-pany will quickly earn a reputation as one of the leading exponents of best prac-tice in its field.” n

IFS has been recognized as a leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Single-Instance ERP for

Product-Centric Midmarket Companies, by Christian Hestermann et al., published November 26, 2014, for its product IFS Applications 8. IFS has been positioned as a leader for the second consec-utive year in the report, and has improved its positioning on the ‘completeness of vision’ and ‘ability to execute’ axis.

“We are very proud to be recognized for the second year running as a Leader in the industry,” IFS President & CEO, Alastair Sorbie said. “A considerable number of our customers have upgraded to IFS Applications 8 since its launch in 2012, and we feel that in this Magic Quadrant Gartner has recognized the breadth, scalability of the IFS solution. Sorbie continued: “we have had a very success-ful year, with double digit growth which is among the highest in the industry. We believe this is because we invest heavily in our product and remain true to our focused industry and seg-mentation strategies. We feel the recognition in the Gartner Magic Quadrant is the result of our continuous commitment to quality and to delivering software that is among the easiest to imple-ment and use. Our strong base of customers is testimo-ny to this, as are the positive numbers published for the last quarter.”

Gartner identifies compa-nies as Leaders based on the

following criteria: “midmar-ket ERP leaders’ products have deep and robust func-tionality that address a range of core user requirements. Not necessarily the largest vendors in terms of revenue, these vendors have proven products, a track record of customer success and demon-

strated momentum in grow-ing their market presence, as well as a clearly communicat-ed strategy to develop their current products into a next-generation application with-out causing too much disrup-tion when adopted by their customer bases.” n

IFS WORLD CONFERENCE 2015

IFS announces that the new version of its extended business software suite – IFS Applications 9 – will be released at the IFS World Conference 2015, May 5–7 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Attendees of the

event will be the first to learn about the new features and capabilities of IFS Applications 9.

IFS Applications 9 builds upon the foundations that have made IFS a recognized industry leader*. The upcoming version will offer new and existing customers major enhance-ments in terms of agility and usability, as well as powerful capabilities tailored to sup-port customers in IFS’s target industries.

In light of IFS’s commitment to quality, IFS Applications 9 is being thoroughly tested both inter-nally as well as in-the-field. IFS announces the availability of IFS Applications on Microsoft Azure. The new offering reduces the need for hardware infrastructure to provide customers with a highly cost effective, rapid and secure way to benefit from

IFS Applications. In addition to avoiding many of the high upfront costs

normally associated with on-premise solutions, the cloud-based offer from IFS and Microsoft enables customers to eas-ily increase the breadth of their deployment as well as scale the number of user-seats in line with business growth. Azure is a proven cloud environment that delivers advance data pro-tection as well as business continuity features that a typical on-premise installation would not include.

The full suite of IFS Applications, including all enterprise resource planning (ERP), enterprise asset management (EAM) and enterprise service management (ESM) modules, can run on Azure. Customers wanting to use IFS Applications in the cloud can leverage Azure either as an Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and self-manage their IFS Applications, or to have their IFS Applications hosted and managed as a service (SaaS). The IaaS offering is available now and the SaaS offering, including both technical and application managed services, will be rolled out over the next six months.

Mark Boulton, Chief Marketing Officer at IFS, said, “Collaborating with Microsoft to offer IFS on Azure was a natural fit because Azure is so well aligned to our customers’ needs.” Boulton continued, “Our customers want a trusted cloud platform that enables them to quickly set-up and bene-fit from IFS Applications in line with their business needs. IFS is synonymous with agility, so empowering customers with the power to quickly deploy new capabilities, or extend

the usage of IFS Applications into new markets with ease, is very attractive.”

Mike Schutz, GM of Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure said, “Cloud computing is becoming more popular with com-panies who want to save money and increase speed and effi-ciencies but they need a solution that is enterprise grade and available at global scale. The work IFS is doing with Azure allows organizations to leverage the power of the cloud and utilize IFS Applications on a highly scalable platform.”

To validate the real-world application of the offering, IFS has been working with beta customer Ebara, a precision instruments manufacturing company.

Commenting on Ebara’s deployment of IFS Applications on Microsoft Azure, Frank Lowery, Director of IS, said, “Ebara has made a company-wide decision to put key IT sys-tems into the cloud, so as a long-standing customer of IFS it was music to our ears to hear of this new initiative on Microsoft Azure. We were more than impressed with the ease and speed of creating our first IFS working environment on Azure, which is a cloud environment the company is com-fortable with having recently moved to Office 365”. In light of this, Dan Matthews, Chief Technology Officer at IFS added, “There is very little work involved in running IFS Applications in Microsoft Azure as the performance has proven to be equal to deploying our software on-premise.” n

MARNIE LIGHTBOUNDREGIONAL MARKETING MANAGER, ASIA PACIFIC & MEA

Marnie was one of the original members to join the newly created IFS Australia management team, just over six years ago (September 2008) and has been fortunate to be part of a successful business which has seen many changes and incredible growth occur over that period.

Marnie said, “It has been an amazing journey to watch the Australian operation grow, achieving impressive growth annually. It has been very rewarding to contribute to the success of the business, adding an ever increasing client portfolio in our key vertical Markets. I have also experienced a major new product release to IFS Applications 8 and even a complete rebranding of IFS. It’s also been a very exciting journey, sharing my knowledge and helping countries in all of Asia Pacific and the Middle East and Africa to invest in marketing and grow their business.”

In her spare time, Marnie enjoys keeping fit, playing netball twice a week, running and swimming, whilst also taking the opportunity to travel the globe and immerse herself in the different cultures, including sampling all of the amazing cuisines and wines of the world on offer.

ROB McCARTHYNATIONAL SALES MANAGER, AUSTRALIA & NEW ZEALAND

Originally from Dublin, Rob arrived in Perth with his family in 2006 to start a new chapter of his life in sunny Australia.

Rob was appointed almost four years ago (October 2010) as the first employee for IFS in Western Australia and has enjoyed the challenge of helping to establish and build the business off the dust there (with no operations or customers in that region at all). Over the last four years we have experienced steady growth in Western Australia and now have a solid team in place to service the growing customer base that has been established.

With the mining boom in Western Australia, IFS has had a real opportunity to cement a good offering to the marketplace, as an alternative to the usual suspects in the ERP space. Rob said, “IFS Applications is a very good fit for enterprises in the resources and associated service industries. I see great potential for enterprises in our market to improve visibility and control over their operations and projects to become more efficient.”

Rob has a very eclectic taste in music and also tortures his family with his love of playing the piano and the guitar in his spare time. He is slowly starting to understand the game of Australian Rules Football and follows the West Coast Eagles.

Even though Perth is the sunniest capital city in the world, he tries to avoid the beach due the abundance of Great White Sharks and the fact that he is not genetically built for the sun!

D uring 2013, IFS embarked on a global marketing campaign focused

around the theme of Mobility. This market awareness activity generated a lot of interest in IFS Applications as well as a lot of press and analyst awareness in the general market place. Delivered into sixteen countries, the campaign reached in excess of seven million people and our IFSWORLD.com website received nearly six million visitors as a direct result. Our PR team extended this reach by creating news items that were picked up all around the world.

This September just gone, we went to mar-ket around the world with a new global campaign focussed around Business Agility. The subject forms the theme for publishing a series of white papers, blogs and opinion pieces, publicised using a “what if” scenario in adver-tising around the world. You’ll see this creative being placed in various IT, business and news publications over the next nine months.

The campaign, whilst orientated around thought leadership of what it takes to become an agile business and the role that business software has to play in that transformation, is underpinned by real examples of our custom-

ers’ success in this area and some of the learn-ings developed supporting the theory behind business agility.

I’d encourage you to keep an eye out for the advertising, take some time to read the website and join the conversations on our blog or through social media such as Linked In and Twitter as this will be a major element of the activity.

We’ll be continuously updating the content on the campaign website so please do take a look and let us know what you think. n

IFS COMPLETES THE CORPORATE GREAT ADVENTURE CHALLENGE

SPONSORSHIP & CHARITY

IFS WORLD 13

On Saturday 15th November, sixteen IFS employees (2 teams of 8) from all over Australia competed in the gruelling “Great Adventure Challenge”. Commencing at first light, we set off on the big race.

Cape Schanck was the picturesque venue for this year’s event. It kicked off only a stones throw from a magnificent lighthouse, with teams being tested by having to firstly tie a reef knot with a big rope as a team. This proved to be harder than it looked. Team IFS Eskimos got off to a great start, being the second team to complete the challenge, giving them an excellent head start, whilst Team IFS Vikings (captained by Rob Stummer) were last to complete the challenge by about 10 minutes – obviously no boy scouts or girl guides in that group!

The race then demanded a 10km run along the shoreline cliff-tops, through dense overgrown farms and hilly, dense forest, before switching legs to a gruelling mountain bike ride through 2kms of thick, heavy sand and then 15kms up steep fire access tracks up to the top of Arthurs Seat (314m summit). Having nearly destroyed us all, we then had to keep each other motivated to press on. A second run leg then took us up to the top of the mountain, where teams were blown away by the views of Port Phillip Heads. We then transitioned onto a fast paced bike leg along the bay trail to Sorrento. Mattias managed to give us all a fright, after surviving a slight altercation with a car, but he got straight back up and muscled on ahead. After the ride, we came to the beach where double kayaks awaited. From this point, a stunning 7km paddle took us around the bay with some challenging swells to contend with. This took us to the Quarantine Station, Point Nepean where we then got out of the kayaks and had to finish the race with a nasty sand run. We missed the finish beacon and ran an extra 2km along the sandy beach, probably because we were all exhausted and seeing stars at that point of the race! Finally, we managed to find the finish line and staggered across with pain, yet joy (because it was finally over)! Beer on ice was a welcome sight!

Team IFS Vikings performed extremely well, and actually ended up coming 5th with a time of 7 hours and 25 minutes. Team IFS Eskimos got disqualified at the 13th hour, having managed to get themselves lost on the way up to Arthurs Seat! (yes, you guessed it, we found them in the pub!) The course was over 80kms long and proved to be extremely demanding, yet a very fun and exciting day that tested all of the participants both mentally and physically. It was a great team bonding experience.

The whole purpose of entering this event was to raise money for a wonderful charity – The Starlight Children’s Foundation. The Great Adventure Challenge’s inspiration and purpose is to make a real difference by brightening the lives of seriously ill children throughout Australia. IFS raised over $4000 and we would sincerely like to thank all of our customers and friends for their kind donations and generous support for this worthy cause.

KANGRA COAL CHOOSES IFS APPLICATIONS TO OPTIMIZE AND STREAMLINE BUSINESS PROCESSESIFS announces that Kangra Coal, a South African coal mining company, will implement IFS Applications ™ to migrate two of its business divisions onto a single ERP suite to optimize efficiency and control in its business operations.

Kangra Coal, has chosen IFS Applications to optimize business processes in its logistics and maintenance operations. The implementation will include IFS’s maintenance and purchasing and inventory, with the option of increasing this number in the future.

Kangra Coal is majority owned by Gas Natural Fenosa, headquartered in Barcelona, Spain, and operates the Savmore colliery in Mpumalanga province, South Africa.

By implementing IFS Applications Kangra will replace a mixture of manually-based legacy systems with a single tool for managing maintenance and logistics to maximize the efficiency of its operations.

“We have chosen IFS because Gas Natural Fenosa had implemented IFS Applications in several facilities that the Group operates and maintains in other countries, and because IFS has vast experience of similar projects with other companies in our industry. IFS perfectly understands our needs, is user-friendly and reduces lead times. IFS Applications also has many standard functions that are well suited to mining requirements,” said Ana Jardón, Managing Director of Kangra Coal.

“For us, this project is an opportunity to expand our business in a sector that we specialize in. IFS Applications functionality covers perfectly the needs of mining sector where we have excellent international references,” said Gustavo Brito, CEO of IFS Ibérica.

Implementation is expected to take about five months and will be carried out by a team composed of experts from IFS and Kangra Coal.
