IntroductionTechnical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) refers to a range of learning experiences which are relevant to the world of work and may occur in variety of learning contexts including Education and Training Institutions and work places.

- In the contemporary labour market, not only in Kenya but worldwide, jobs opportunities are currently found in the areas where Technical knowledge and skills are required.

1. INITIATIVE:Bringing all the stakeholders in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to:- Carry out the sensitization and awareness –

building activities.

- Motivational activities to arouse students interest in Technical Education and Training opportunities.

- Have discussion and brainstorming sessions, and various other efforts to change community attitudes towards TVET.

- Rebranding TVET.

STAKEHOLDERS:- All the County Directors of Technical Education in

Kenya.- All the Registrars in Technical Training Institutions

in Kenya.- All Career Teachers in all Secondary School in

Kenya.- All Board of Managements of all Secondary Schools

in Kenya- The Kenya University Colleges Central Placement

Services (KUCCPS).

Objective

1) To create awareness to stakeholders employment and potential trainees of TVET Programmes.

2) To prepare students for the employment market as entrepreneurs, employers and employees.

Therefore the main focus is:- Realize a Kenyan workforce that is trained for the

current market demand and Certified to International Standards

- Stimulating employment opportunities- Contributing to the improved productivity- Competitiveness and Prosperity of Individuals

enterprises and the nation.

2. WHAT HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED

Short-term:

- Meeting the principals and chairmen of all Technical Training Institutions.

- All County Directors of Technical Education- Brochure developed concerning information on

TVET Programmes.

Long-term:

- Reduce the poor image and negative perception of TVET institutions and programmes to encourage Parent and School levers to opt for TVET courses.

- Strengthen partnerships with industry for improved access, enhanced quality delivery of programmes, improved examination and assessment

- There is very low awareness in TVET- There is very high interest in TVET Programmes

WHAT NEXT

- Plans to disseminate the TVET information through Mass Media.

- Engage the County government in reaching out to both trainees and the industries in the Counties. (University, Industry Government (UIG) Partnership Model).
