Transformational Business Leadership 3 A course for outstanding alumni of Australian Universities Australia Awards is seeking applications from high performing managers and executives, employed in the Food & Agriculture, Banking & Finance, or Mining & Energy sectors, who have undertaken studies at an Australian university (undergraduate, post-graduate, or short course). An Australia Awards Short Term Award is being offered to Indonesian alumni of Australian universities who wish to develop their skills in business leadership with the aim of achieving a senior executive or board position in the private sector in the future. The two-week course at a leading Australian university will include visits and networking opportunities with leading Australian businesses. To be considered for this course you must: Have completed an undergraduate, or postgraduate degree, or short course (on-shore, achieving credit average or above) at an Australian university; OR Completed successfully a Short Course or Fellowship in Australia Have a minimum 5-8 years’ experience at middle to senior management level in one of the priority sectors identified (noting that individuals working for a professional services firm or an organisation outside one of these sectors as a technical specialist in one of these sectors are eligible to apply); Demonstrate that you are an active participant in the workplace, a professional association, academia, sport, the arts, a voluntary organisation or in other extra-curricular activities; Complete nomination form outlining your leadership experience and leadership potential from their General Manager/Chief Representative (or equivalent) of their organisation Demonstrate how you will apply the course learning and other opportunities to your personal development and your professional field and community; Commit to undertake a short course project and contribute to the ongoing Australia-Indonesia relationship; Not be an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia; Have an IELTS of 6.0 or proof of extended periods

Transformational Business Leadership 3 A course for outstanding alumni of Australian Universities Course Learning Objectives

On completing the course, participants will be able to:

Demonstrate understanding of leadership principles – including communication and influencing, managing for performance and coaching for performance;

Demonstrate understanding of introductory principles of operational effectiveness – lean operations and supply chains; dealing with variability; organisation transformation (through business processes);

Demonstrate understanding of strategy and marketing principles – industry and company analysis; customer segmentation;

Demonstrate understanding of finance and accounting foundations, including financial ratio and statement analysis; value creation and return on invested capital; discounted cash-flow analysis; capital markets and financing structures; mergers and acquisitions;

Demonstrate understanding of economics foundations including; supply and demand theory; surplus and value capture; market power;

Demonstrate understanding of the factors that drive organisational performance in Australian companies (through site visits and guest speaker series);

Demonstrate a high level understanding of soft skills and leadership
