The physical manifestation of the Aurora Lighting Experience, or A.L.E.X, is one of ten interactive, sensory showrooms. Connected to our facility in Welwyn Garden City is our LightLab which features one of the UKs largest Integrating Spheres with a

Labsphere spectro radiometer. This state-of-the-art device provides us with accurate performance data including lumen output, colour temperature, colour rendering index, chromaticity and binning accuracy.

Lighting is an experience worth sharing, which is why we have mobile showrooms.

latest technologyIn this modern low energy home the client requested versatile low energy lighting that would meet their aesthetic requirements and also comply with the UK fire and energy saving regulations. To fulfil customer expectation Aurora selected the Mains Voltage 10W fire rated downlight. Used with Auroras Fast Fix connector the integrated design of the downlights allowed a fast and simple installation process.

Auroras insulation cover was also specified so that the downlight could be covered with insulation and so comply with Building Regulations.

Thanks to the latest anti-glare LEDchroic lenses the home is filled with natural evenly distributed light. The complete range of finishes allowed a perfect match with the clients interior design scheme.

Our mains voltage LED Downlight is a evolutionary innovation in lighting, with the LEDs and driver mounted on board, meaning no separate driver is required, saving costs and improving reliability.

Aurora has used the very latest technology in anti-glare LEDchroic lenses, which replicate the appearance of a dichroic halogen lamp combined with a high output LED chip, this downlight delivers 500 lumens for warm white and 600 lumens for neutral white applications.

custom designMcDonalds restaurant chain wanted to retrofit their existing luminaires with LED downlights. In addition to a 50 percent energy reduction, the new luminaires needed to match the physical dimensions and lumen performance of the existing luminaires.

The client specified a ROI within a 12 - 24 month period, easy installation, and an extended warranty. The selected design would be rolled out to all UK McDonalds restaurants.

Using the AU-DL10314, with a high efficacy of 71lm/W and reduced maintenance costs, the desired energy savings and ROI were achieved.

custom designThe use of LED was in line with the clients corporate responsibility for the environment in terms of long term, energy saving. The HaLo90 range was chosen as it offered a consistent performance and product visual across both the recessed ceiling and the area that track was required.

The ceiling height of 4 metres also offered maintenance cost savings where costly access equipment would have to be used for relamping conventional light sources. The interchangeable reflector system allowed the same luminaire to be used to create area-specific lighting effects tailored to the merchandise displays.

The HaLo90 is a CoB luminaire with a 93% efficient optic system of reflector and glass. The fan cooled 3000 lumen version is capable of replacing up to 150W HID luminaires with RoI in 2 years or under.

With an LED source, the light output reduces over a period of time. The LED is said

to reach the end of its useful life once its light output falls below 70 percent of the

original level. When 50 percent of the CMH-TC lamps have failed, the will still be

biodynamic light & circadian rhythm150 years ago most of our time was spent outside under the blue sky. Today most of us spend 90 percent of our time indoors.

Throughout the day, daylight changes constantly in quantity, directional characteristics, colour temperature and colour rendering.

Daylight has the ability to invigorate and promote a sense of well being within people. The therapeutic quality of natural lighting has never been in doubt however we have never really understood how or why, until recently. Probably the most important finding is that light controls our biological or body clock through regular light-dark rhythms, known as the circadian rhythm.

How does lighting work? Aurora CX lighting is fully tunable between 2700K (warm white) and 6500K (cool white) using two channel control.

The change of colour temperature and light intensity is achieved by mixing the light output of two groups of LEDs. One group of LEDs has a colour temperature of 2700K (warm white) and the other 6500K (cool white). Changing the light output of these two groups means the colour temperature can vary seamlessly between these two values.

Full dimming and colour temperature can be controlled independently of each other to create the desired lighting effect.
