SP 46-2013 Admin Reviews: Assessing Compliance

SP 30-2012 – with State Approval gave RCCI’s flexibility with the meal pattern during 2012/2013 SY

This memo extends NSLP meal pattern flexibility for those facilities with legitimate safety concerns

SP 48-2013 Extending Flexibility for RCCI’s in NSLP

HHFK stated that frozen fruit served in NSLP contain no added sugar starting in 2012/2013 SY

Waiver granted for 2012/2013 and 2013/2014

This extends that waiver to 2014/2015.

Permanent waiver should be issued by end of school year

Beginning in 2013/2014 each State’s direct certification performance rate is 95%

Last year our benchmark was 90% - reached that goal

USDA updated the Child Nutrition Database on August 5, 2013

All approved software companies must download this new updated information

Everyone who is currently using USDA approved software should be receiving updates shortly

SP 52-2013 Child Nutrition Database Release 17

Schools participating in the School Breakfast Program must identify a reimbursable meal at, or near, the start of the serving line.

7 CFR 220.8(a)(2) Unit pricing. Schools must price each meal as a unit. The price of a reimbursable lunch does not change if the student does not take a food item or requests smaller portions. Schools must identify, near or at the beginning of the serving line(s), the food items that constitute the unit-priced reimbursable school meal(s).

Meal Pattern Reminders

During SY 2012/2013 battered and/or breaded products offered will not need to be counted towards the maximum weekly grain requirements in the meal pattern

Beginning July 1, 2013, all grains which are part of battered and/or breaded products offered must be counted towards the weekly grain requirement.
