hello from the ltg Hello Seals!

School is starting soon! Be sure to keep building your home, school and communi-

ty throughout this school year. I challenge you all to recruit at least three new friends in-

to the Key Club family! Let them know that Key Club can provide so many new oppor-

tunities for them. Such as friends, service hours, colleges, and scholarships! Freshmen-

The best advice I can give you is to join Key Club! It will be the best decision you make.

You will make memories that will last your a lifetime. Freshman year might seem slow

and tedious but once you look back it will be as if everything passed in an instant. Take

advantage of the opportunities given to you! Sophomores- this will be one of your easi-

est years in High School, so take advantage of your free time. Become more involved in

Key Club and other school activities! Always try new things. High School only last anoth-

er two years for you and it goes by fast. Make the most out of what you do this year.

Juniors! Woohoo! You're almost there. This will be one of the most stressful year for you

all. SAT, ACT, APs and Subject test will be a challenge. I believe you can all overcome

these challenges. Don't forget to study hard this year but give

yourselves breaks every once in a while. School may come first but

don't forget about your Key Club family. There are endless service

and social opportunities on the weekend so be sure to relax from

your studies and go to a Key Club event! If you are a senior then

you should not waste your last year in Key Club. Share your

knowledge and passion with underclassmen. Try to be the change

you want to see! These last three years seemed to have flashed

by. It feels we walked into our first class and Key Club meeting just

yesterday. On this first day we looked up to the upperclassmen for

advice and knowledge. This year it is your turn to be an inspiration.

Inspire them to serve and to do great things in life! So end

this year with a BANG! Go class of 2016!

-Austin Ly

(june 26) @ alamitos beach

fans in the stand

On Sunday, July 26, I attended Fans in the Stands at Alamitos Beach. Since

the event was a region event, all divisions in Region 13 came together and

supported the athletes that participated in the Special Olympics. We

encouraged athletes by doing the G DOUBLE O D JOB GOOD JOB and S-U

-P-E-R SUPER STAR IS WHAT YOU ARE cheers. Attending Fans in the Stands

was an eye opener since I was able to witness the collective effort of the

teams as well as the enthusiasm of the crowd. After the games were over,

we were allowed to actually socialize and have fun on the beach. Since

this was a region event, it was great to catch up with friends from different

divisions as well as be able to do service alongside them. Overall, Fans in

the Stands was a very memorable and successful service event and I look

forward to attending similar events.

nisei week

What is Nisei Week?

We were requested to help out at the annual Nisei Week. Volunteers were

able to help with crowd control and push one of their floats. We helped the

Japanese artisans of Little Tokyo with their artwork. The event occurred on

August 16th, Sunday from 4:00PM-9:00PM. The meet up location for

volunteers was at the Centenary United Methodist Church. We proudly wore

our division shirts to represent how hard-working we were.

You can find out more about the history of the event on their website:

hello my name is betty hang.

my key club moment

One of my favorite Key Club moments occurred

when I attended Fall Rally 2014 and over

400 Division 35 West members were up on the

stands of the Golden Bear Theatre, decked out in

sparking silver hues and bright tealglows. As LTG

Vince Nguyen counted down for the excited seals

to begin their cheer, my heart ruptured

with immense joy. The moment I heard the psyched

seals screaming the cheers that Millie Wong, 1/2

spirit task coordinator, and I created, I never

thought in a million years that I'd be capable of cre-

ating and leading something so effective to peo-

ple's happiness and excitement. I couldn't help but

feel awfully proud of myself and the dedicated

seals standing on the stands, cheering like there

was no tomorrow. Out of the hundreds of Key Club

moments I've had, that specif-

ic moment was unbelievable and I still recall having

a permanent smile on my face. Thank you for read-

ing my Key Club moment!

closing message

Hey-a seals!

It’s time, school is coming. Some schools may have start-

ed already, but continue to strive. Strive in school whether it be

in academics or sports. If you put your mind to it, you can do it!

It is understanding that school can be a drag at times, but do

not let it get to you. Do not give up. Start strong and end

strong! I hope to see everyone continue to have fun, we only

have one high school experience. Why not make the best of it?

Cheers to a new year with fun times, super star grades, and

hard work!
