Excellent communication (i.e.: verbal and writing) and strong interpersonal skills are essential for this position and will be assessed throughout the search process. The incumbent must successfully demonstrate the ability to work effectively with a diverse campus population of students, faculty, staff and outside constituencies. Primary responsibilities include supervision of a professional staff to create and maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment that is conducive to student success. It is expected that programs and services will address the specific needs of the Apartment population.Effectively supervise, select, train and evaluate professional, classified and para-professional staff.

Promote group cohesion and a team concept among staff. To include: Two Assistant Directors (SL-3), 5 area

Advanced knowledge of media system installation including wiring and mechanical (hand and power tools) skills. Thorough knowledge of personal computer operating systems, video conferencing systems, data projection, audio, video and projection systems. Advanced technical knowledge enabling them to repair and maintain these systems. Experience supporting users in an advanced, interactive media presentation environment. Good communication skills. Brief Description of Duties: The Media Systems Technician position requires a thorough knowledge of current media technologies and how to apply them. Incumbent will be responsible for installing and maintaining complex audio visual systems. Assisting faculty and staff with that occur during class or presentation. Troubleshoot issues (live) with complex, interactive presentations and video conferences. Preparing facilities for presentations. Training faculty and TA’s in proper use of facilities and equipment.

Assist instructors with the technology hardware and software used in classroom instruction and issues that occur

during class. Attempt to resolve issues during class (or provide alternatives) or refer to other TLT staff for training outside of class. Room based and desktop video conferencing. Assist instructors with scheduling services, testing systems and setting up equipment and act as room technician as needed. Student response systems - assist instructors with the hardware and software issues that occur during class. Computer hardware and software issues. Assist instructors during class with computer hardware and software issues. Assist instructors with integrating new equipment or technology with existing media systems. Assist instructors with other hardware and software issues that occur during class including use of sympodium, nonstandard media (PAL SECAM), media control systems, streaming media, wireless microphones, wireless presentation controls and other interactive hardware/software.Classrooms and Media Facilities: Assist in the design of audio and video presentation and production facilities.

Install media support equipment including: audio, video, lighting, computers, presentation control systems, switching systems and other presentation support equipment. Installation skills include: pulling cable, soldering, wiring low voltage and 120 volt devices, programming control systems and mounting presentation equipment on wood, steel or concrete. Reviews grievance and meets with grievant, union representatives and supervisors, where appropriate, to

gather information concerning the allegation. Evaluate the allegation contained in the grievance with the goal of resolving the issue in a timely manner. Stony Brook University, home to many highly ranked graduate research programs, is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island's scenic North Shore. Salary: Commensurate with experience

Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or the equivalent degree from a foreign university. Directly related experiences in the areas of medical imaging and/or virtual medicine.Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Expertise in visualization and its applications including scientific and medical, natural phenomena modeling, and virtual reality. Experience in team management. Excellent writing and communication skills to include writing research proposals.

Brief Description of Duties: Completion of a project on virtual paceatography (VP).Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the areas of

medical imaging and virtual medicine.Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature research and utilizing specialized skills in related field to

analyze the collected data. Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance, and ordering of supplies as needed.Will supervise the project development team of grad students assigned to the VP project. Will participate/assist

in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. Will also assist in grant writing.Will demonstrate the project applications for distinguished colleagues and visiting dignitaries.

Other duties as assigned, which may include representing the department at Scientific Conferences and

Meetings.

Special Notes: This is a full time position. The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Night and weekend work is required. Travel will be required for scientific conferences to present research.

Required Qualifications: PhD in Biophysics, Biochemistry or a related discipline. Experience in either protein structural biology (e.g. x-ray or NMR) and/or advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques (e.g.TIRF, super resolution imaging, or single molecule fluorescence) as evidenced by first authored publication(s) using these methods.Preferred Qualifications: Experience in recombinant protein engineering and production, site directed mutagenesis and cloning, site specific chemical modification of proteins, fluorescence resonance energy transfer, and live cell imaging. Familiarity with NIH-Xplor, NiH-Image and MATLAB.

Brief Description of Duties: The Postdoctoral Associate in the Physiology lab will be responsible for:Performance of experiments on regulation/clustering of glutamate receptors and scaffold-mediated protein

interactions.Generation of novel expression constructs for synaptic proteins.

Preparation and measurement of fluorescently labeled samples using microscopy.

Characterization of protein structures and interactions based on fluorescence microscopy data.

Analysis of data and preparation of manuscripts.
