I’m told that when a disaster strikes, the Red Cross wants Southern Baptists in the battle with them, because they know we are prepared to show up and offer effective ministry quickly. The disaster relief ministry publishes a document on family preparedness for disaster that really impressed me, offering a planning checklist to get your family ready for disaster. This is such a great idea, and I think every family could benefit from this kind of preparedness, but it makes me wonder if we are taking similar steps to prepare ourselves and our families for a spiritual crisis. The war he had in view was a war at the end of the age when Jesus returned to judge the nations. The result of this war has been pre-determined. Jesus wins and His enemies are defeated. Preparing for Eternity The Bible says that believers in Christ will be spared this disaster. Music News by Pastor Robert McGee

Handbell Kick Off- If you are interested in ringing hand bells with us this season, we will have a meeting Thursday August 22nd at 6:30pm in the sanctuary. You do not need to know how to read music, I will teach you everything you need to know. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact me ASAP.

If music is not your thing, please find a way to get plugged in. I know that we need many volunteers for the Care Ministry. Julie could always use help with AWANA. There are many ways to be active here at BVBC. If you can’t think of a place, let us help you.

Young at Heart—Senior Adult News by Pastor Robert McGee

Two big things happening in the month of August that you need to be part of.

Choir Christmas Kickoff. You may have been thinking, “I sure would like to join the choir, but when is a good time to start?” The answer to that question is Wednesday, August 21st at 6pm in the choir room. We will preview this year’s Christmas music and drama. Once again we have the very talented Lu Sullivan and Rhonda Mattingly directing the Drama. So come and check us out. We would love to have you sing with us.

Senior Movie Night

Unbroken Path to Redemption

August 23rd at 6:30 pm

The deadline for the Single seniors’ train trip has passed. If you signed up, I will be getting you details about where and when you need to be. I wanted to let you know about a special night coming up on Friday, August 9th. BVBC will be hosting a game night in Grace Hall form 6pm-9:30pm. This activity is for all ages, but I encourage all senior adults to make this a priority. I think one of the best things a church can do is foster fellowship across the generations. Bring a game, bring some snacks, bring a friend. I will see you there.

Schedule for Month of August: Movie Night- August 23rd 6:30pm. Unbroken Path to Redemption -Though safely home from WWII, Louis Zamperini battles against overwhelming fear and hate—his greatest adversaries yet—only finding victory through the redeeming power of Jesus Christ. Single Seniors Alphabet Lunch- Tuesday, August 13th – Village Inn - 2300 SE Walton Blvd. Bentonville, AR Please let me know if you need a ride. I will leave the church at 10:30 am. God Bless, Robert

Meant to Serve

Isn’t it wonderful that God gives each of us specific gifts and talents to use to serve Him!

Invest–meant: We are making an investment into God’s kingdom by genuinely loving and caring for others and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Commit-meant: We can show our love for Christ and others by serving Christ with our time, abilities and energy. How believers get involved, how we serve, how we invest our talents and time really matters to grow God’s kingdom.

Encourage-meant: Being an encourager is part of Christian living and serving the Lord. When we encourage someone, we have the opportunity to speak healing truth into their life.

Together, we can make a difference when we believe God is committed to our lives and that He can be trusted to fulfill His best purpose for us.

Fall Bible Studies

We have two new Women’s Bible studies coming in September, each with two

different meeting times.

The Colossians & Philemon Precept Bible study will meet Mondays at 9:00am and

6:00pm in the Conference Room, beginning September 9th.

The study on the book of James will be on Sundays at 6:00pm beginning September 22nd and Tuesdays at 10:00am beginning

September 24th.

For more information contact Jerri Mason.

Thank You Church

Join us on Sunday, August 11th from 2pm-

4:30pm, in Fellowship Hall.

This is a drop-in event –

come for all or part of the

time. All ages are welcome!

Threads of Love Wednesday, August 28th.

9:30 am, Room #142

You are welcome to come help us work on items for Operation Christmas Child and

our Guatemala Mission group.

COME and TASTE GUATEMALA at the next three fundraiser luncheons. We want you to experience a little of what we have experienced on our trips as far as the food goes. On Aug. 18, we have a typical breakfast planned that won't disappoint. We will focus on supplies. We need to fill 100 blessing bags with hygiene items and 30 baby bags of baby stuff. Please plan to attend so be sure and sign up when the time comes. On Sept. 22 we will have our third luncheon and then Oct.

13 our final luncheon. Each luncheon will have a silent auction as well as a theme and I must tell you that we have some fabulous items for you to bid on. The team just wanted to try something different this year to raise funds for various needs so we hope you will help us out. God has put on our heart the amount of blessing bags and baby bags to bring this year. Again this year we are helping a medical clinic that has many needs and we have already decided that we will take as much as is given to us even if it means paying for extra bags. We know the people that operate the clinic very well and they need help as they not only have the medical clinic but make house calls and have a youth group they work with twice a week. God has them being true servants to many that are in great need. Sharing the word of God to everyone is very important to them. Will you consider coming alongside and blessing this couple so they can continue to do the Lord’s work? May God bless you all and God will get the glory. Watch the bulletin for sign up times.

We want to thank our church family for all the kind expressions of love and concern toward us the

last couple of months. We’re grateful for the prayers, visits, phone calls, cards and prayergrams we

received. We know God honored the requests of His people and we felt His hand of blessings

upon us.

Thank you so much for the delicious meals we received (also the rides to church). Your kindness

was deeply appreciated. Thank you so much. We love you all and may God bless you.
