Glenwood has been asked by TISD to provide some specific items for students in need at Rice Elementary. This is an opportunity to show our neighborhood how much we care about families and children. Pick up a list in the foyer, and place items in the collection bin near the church office. Contact Tim Hicks for cash donations. Supplies will be delivered to Rice Elementary on Monday, August 22.
back to schoolJoin us for a special service, Sunday, August 21, as we honor our students, parents, teachers, administrators and all those going back to school. Stay for a church-wide fellowship lunch immediately after services in the Family Life Center. Pulled pork sandwiches will be provided, and members are asked to bring sides and desserts.

Kids Hope Our mission is to help a fallen world stand up again. This mission is not
limited to only adults. God has opened a door for Glenwood to touch the lives of the children in our
su r round ing communi ty and neighboring school. Every school
has “at risk” children. These are children who need specific adult involvement in their lives in order
for them to succeed in school. Kids Hope is a mentoring program that
gives churches opportunities to go into public schools and give some nurturing attention to children who
are at risk. The plan is to get one church committed to one school
with one adult committing one hour a week to one child. Last year was our second year mentoring at Rice
Elementary. We had seven of our members going into the school
each week. This year our goal is to have 10 mentors. See Tim Hicks if you are interested in making a
difference in our community by touching the lives of children in our
neighborhood.

Men of God: The Story of Elijah and Elisha The stories of Elijah and Elisha are part of the history of the northern
kingdom of Israel in 1–2 Kings. The author's purpose is to explain why
Israel (and later Judah) were exiled. Israel failed to listen to the prophets,
who proclaimed that God is King. If the earthly king obeys God (the true
King!) then everything will be fine. But the kings didn’t follow God’s
leading. Join us this fall as we explore the stories of Elijah and Elisha.
Classes begin Sunday, September 4.
