Dorothy Siegel loves music! Almost any kind of music. She loves to sing and used to be quite the dancer. She and her husband, Harold, went dancing 4 or 5 nights a week. They danced at St. Vincent’s, St. Pete’s, the Grove and the Malta Ballroom. They also went to West View’s Danceland, when the big bands were playing. If there was music, they were dancing! Harold said that Dorothy was a very good cook. Her specialties were Polish dishes, chicken soup with homemade dumplings and great spaghetti sauce. They would have holiday dinners at their house and there was always plenty of good food. Dorothy grew up in Lawrenceville and went to Schenley High School. She worked at AT&T for 18 years. Dorothy and Harold were married in 1952. (They eloped to a magistrate in Pittsburgh.) They were remarried months later at Holy Family with family present. They bought a house in Sheridan in 1965 and raised their two boys, Dave and Dan, there. They have 6 grandchildren (5 boys, 1 girl) and one great-granddaughter. Her grandchildren are her pride and joy. She spent as much time as possible with them while they were growing up. Instead of traveling on vacation, she would have rather stayed at home with the kids. Dorothy and Harold belonged to the VB Italian Club, the ISDA and Ascension Church in Ingram. They also bowled on a couples’ league. They have very good friends and enjoyed lots of good times with them. Dorothy is always happy and we are glad that she is a resident at Broadmore.
