Barreto served fve years as the Administrator o the U.S. Small Business Administration ater being appointed by

President George W. Bush and unanimously approved by theUnited States Senate on July 25, 2001. During his stewardship,the SBA exceeded all previous records in small business loans,women and minority owned business support, disaster relie andprivate-public sector procurement opportunities. Barreto directedthe delivery o fnancial and business development programs to

America’s entrepreneurs rom a portolio o direct, guaranteed and disaster loans totaling morethan $45 billion. Earlier this year he was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to serve on theCaliornia Commission or Economic Development. Barreto also serves as the Chairman o TheLatino Coalition, a national organization that represents Latino interests with senior executives o many Fortune 500 companies and government agencies both ederal and local.

Mr. Barreto also serves as Chairman o Business Matchmaking, the nation’s leading non-proft small business procurement program. Business Matchmaking brings together countlessentrepreneurs, including women, minority and veteran owned small business owners withprocurement representatives o ederal and local government agencies and several hundred majorcorporations. The our year program has been responsible or over 80,000 ace to ace meetingsand acilitated the granting o more than $8,000,000,000 in contracts or small frms.
