Bastador Reglos Mantala Cariño Aquino

It is with much excitement and optimism that I welcome the passing of the second half of 2010.

Our country now has a new president—promising a complete change in running the affairs of government, and laying a new direction for the country’s path to development. Indeed, the only thing constant is change itself.

The same goes for PR Gaz. Our

organization is c o n t i n u o u s l y

traversing the path of change.

Early this year, we breached the century mark in terms of the number of

stores, and we have not stopped at that. As of July, total tally stands at 120 branches. This is an exciting development, and I am optimistic that we will meet the halfway mark of our “500 in 5 Vision” by end of next year, well within the target we set.

Change in PR Gaz also permeates all areas of the organization. We have begun the process of transformation for our brand. Stores we opened a few months ago now sport signages of brand new design. Old stores are following suit. Our cylinders too now carry the new brand logo, and in time, the application of the new visual identity in our vehicles, devices and other marketing collaterals will be completed.

For manpower development, we have laid down a concrete approach—strive to get the best people for our organization and

provide continuous training for our current workforce.

Our business processes and logistics capability are also undergoing changes. We are upgrading our systems, equipment and methods—the way we do things, basically—to achieve maximum efficiency and provide excellent service to our customers.

We are just halfway through 2010, and we still have a long road ahead to traverse. A lot of time still to effect changes—the kind we should all aspire for, that of changing for growth and success. With teamwork and dedication we can definitely make it happen.

To change and to change for the better are two different things. We should choose the latter.

Your Chairman & CEO,

NELSON PAR

PR Gaz was named Best Homegrown Franchise in the recently concluded 2010 Franchise Awards of Entrepreneur Magazine Philippines. It was also featured in the July issue of Entrepreneur along with 18 other best-performing franchise brands recognized by the magazine as models of innovation, ingenuity and resilience.

The Best Homegrown Franchise award recognizes Filipino-owned franchises that have carved a significant niche

and have become leaders in their respective industry sectors due to their mastery of the local market.

Entrepreneur Philippines first launched the franchise awards in 2006. Franchise companies selected for the citation undergo a stringent selection process and compete in one or several categories. The franchisors are measured based on their financial strength and stability, the size of their franchises and their rate of growth, and franchise package, among others.

Zambales franchisee George Detubio was this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award for the Sea-based OFW category in Region 3. The Department of Labor and Employment-Overseas Workers Welfare Association Regional Welfare Office 3 gave the citation during its Araw ng Pasasalamat 2010 last June 7.

The regional celebration is part of the nationwide observance of Migrant Workers’ Day, an annual special event which acknowledges the contribution of migrant workers to the social and economic advancement of their families and the country. This year’s celebration focused on the theme “OFWs: Tagumpay sa Hamon ng Panahon, Kaagapay sa Pagsulong.”

Last year, Mr. Detubio and his family won the Model OFW Family of the Year Award for Region 3 and competed with other regional winners for the national level.

George and his wife Carmen are PR Gaz’ first multi-unit franchisees in the Zambales area. The couple operate the Iba and Botolan franchised outlets.

Six company officials attended the 5S workshop conducted by the Development Academy of the Philippines last March 18 in Ortigas, Pasig.

Held under the auspices of the Philippine Franchise Association, the short course was designed to provide participants an opportunity to understand the concepts and practical applications of 5S in helping boost quality of services and improve the quality of work. Participating in the workshop were representatives from PR Gaz and two other companies

engaged in the retail-service trade. COO-Franchising Siu Ping Par led the PR Gaz contingent.

The term “5S” is the name of a workplace organization methodology that uses a list of five Japanese words which are: seiri (short), seito (systematize), seiso (sweep), seiketsu (sanitize) and shitsuke (self-discipline). These promote organization, cleanliness and safety in the work environment.

After the seminar, it is expected that the participants would be able to formulate action plans in implementing

Held from February to April, over 1,500 residents from various communities in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, and Cavite benefitted from the PR Gaz-sponsored community service program.

The first quarter PR Gaz safety seminar series were held in Brgy.10-A Aplayang Munti in Cavite City, Brgy. Consumers are also taught how to distinguish quality LPG products from substandard and illegally refilled ones. These seminars are conducted in coordination with the barangay officials.

Mga Luto ni Gazman

4. Igisa ang hiniwa-hiwang sili (green bell pepper) at sibuyas sa

natirang mantikilya.5. Ihalo na ang halaan. Hanguin lahat at ibukod. 6. Habang nakasalang ang mga gulay sa kawali, paghaluin ang

asukal, pinya (tidbits) at juice nito, gawgaw, suka, ketchup, toyo, at tubig at haluin ito ng mabuti.
