Harbormasters Report From Harry Steele, “Frisky Mermaid”…
*We are in our 5th flood. The water is going up and down, but not away.
*The spider man will be spraying the docks, club and pool area in mid July.
*All docks have been sprayed for weeds on the Styrofoam.
*A temporary fix was placed on A Dock water. I will purchase the material and put that end of A- Dock back on line when the flood goes down.
*We treated the rocks around the harbor for weeds in between floods.
*The grass has taken a big hit this year from the floods. We will need to reseed all areas.
*The lights on the road will need to be addressed when the water goes down.
*I plan to paint the F Dock patio when the water goes down.
*All of the Dock signs are in bad shape and we need to replace them with a “water friendly” design.
*The trees along the road have been damaged due to high water and storms. We will need to ad-dress this issue when the water recedes.
*The bulbs in the lighthouse are burned out and will be replaced.
*Howard Weidinger continues to work with the pump company to update the water system to pro-vide the club with a more consistent and efficient water system. Editors Note: The entire DCYC Board would like to express their appreciation for the endless hours and effort both Howard and Harry have put in with regard to this issue. Thank you gentlemen!

The Dock Hop Poker Crawl now RE-SCHEDULED TO AUGUST 7th
Due to the flooding and the date change for the “Blessing of the Fleet”, the Poker Run is going to be re-scheduled as well from July 24 to the new date: SATURDAY AUGUST 7th. This will give folks more time to contact your fellow dock mates and set your theme, food and drink selections for the party this year. Last year we had Jamaica, Hillbilly, Island, Wine and Hollywood Red Carpet-just to name a few. Each dock was decorated and had special theme related munchies/drinks to make for a fun day for the
dock hop poker players traveling to each dock visiting fellow members as they collect their winning hand.
Saturday August 7th 2010.
2PM to 7PM.
Duck Club YC Dock Hop Poker Crawl and Annual Fleet Inspection.
Each Dock will need to have a theme with creative ideas for decoration, libation and munchies.
Purchase your hands between 1PM and 2PM in the Starboard Room.
Each dock will pass out a card for the Poker Crawl. There will be three flights: $5, $10, and $25.
There will be seven cards per hand with the best five cards wins. Standard poker rules apply.
At 7Pm all Poker hands are due in the Starboard Room. Winners announced around 7:30.
Commodore Russ Laramie and his fleet inspectors will tour each dock for the Annual Fleet Inspection.
“Be prepared to show off your quarters”.
Mark will have drink specials and live music.

Commodore’s Dinner Update: from Kathy Laramie...
Please remember to hold open October 16th this year for the Commodore’s Dinner. This Black Tie optional event will offer an upscale spread of horsdoevres and dinner entrees, and a chance to dress up and party to the music of Charlie Hilliard. A small silent auction will also be provided, to include a vari-
ety of offerings, including some artwork of local artists.
One such artist, Larry Pogue, recently invited us down to his
gallery in Washington, Missouri . We enjoyed a private tour of
his many sculptures, ranging from large garden or fountain
pieces to smaller wall art. The symbolism that Larry brings to
each piece is quite intriguing, as most are typically inspired by
a specific event, person, memory, or human condition. He em-
ploys stainless steel and other metals, often highlighted by light
or water, and frequently uses kinetics to create pieces that
move with the wind. Anyone who makes it into Washington
should definitely go to see his gallery, as it is well worth the
visit. I was very impressed, and was astounded to hear that he
was planning to create a piece specifically for our auction.
Larry’s daughter is club member Angela Love, so he has en-
joyed many visits to the Duck Club, and I think this is his way
of giving something back. With his understanding of our
boating community, I cannot wait to see what he designs for
us! Thank you so much, Larry. Anyone wanting to see Larry’s
work can visit www.larrypogue.com. The Larry Pogue Sculp-
ture Studio is located at 118 W. Front St. Washington, MO
63090, and the Phone is: 636.239.0668.

“Restaurant and Bar Goodness for June 2010”
From Tom Anderson – Your Restaurant/Bar representative on the DCYC Board.
Mark had several bad circumstances that occurred that his organization pushed to the good side. During the Con
Trios Yacht Club Champaign Brunch the electrical went hay wire prompting a possible club closing at 1PM. Mark
and his staff were able to push this closing out to almost 3:30 PM despite the loss of air conditioning. During the
flooding of the last weekend in June, Mark was able to create a walk way to the club at his own expense and keep
the club operating. Mark‟s staff, despite danger to their own selves, were able to operate the club during the day
light hours of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on that weekend until the water went too high. Please come back to
the club after the water goes down.
The club is a place for socializing and fun for your families and friends. There are plans for dock party nights so
that each dock might get together to know each other with possible drink specials. We expect this to be a very
fun year for the club. Although, much like our own daily lives we expect the membership and operation staff to
act always in a respectful and polite manner.
The contract represents the service level agreement between the club membership and the operator. The con-
tract provides for tools of resolution on possible membership and operator disagreements. We always hope such
disagreements are kept to a minimum or not at all. Disagreements that are not immediately resolvable should be
brought to Tom Anderson‟s attention at dock 219, or cell phone 618-709-0000.
We expect this to be a fantastic year for the membership and operations staff of the Restaurant/Bar. Hope to
see you all there.
HERE ARE THE DETAILS ON HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN “THE
BLESSING OF THE FLEET AND PARADE OF BOATS” WHICH WILL
BE HELD ON THE NEW DATE: SATURDAY, JULY 24th-THIS IS NOT A
DCYC EVENT, BUT IS AN ALTON POOL 26 RIVER TRADITION:
The Parade will be made up of two sections.
First: starting at Harbor Point Yacht Club Mile 204.5 UMR at 1:00pm and proceeding upstream to-
ward the Shrine Site.
Second: starting at The Yacht Club of St. Louis in the Dardenne Chute at 1:00pm, approximately equal
to Mile 215.6 UMR proceeding downstream. This section of the parade proceeds downstream in the
Dardenne chute and enters the main channel of the Mississippi River near the upper end of Mason Is-
land. The parade continues downstream in the main channel until approximately Mile 212 UMR
(abeam of the Our Lady of the Rivers statue).
The parade turns toward the Missouri shore where it merges with those from Harbor Point parading
upstream and passes the statue at 2:15pm going upstream. After receiving a blessing at the statue, the
parade continues upstream in Portage Chute, passing Palisades Yacht Club where the boats are judged
for awards.
Note: All boaters are invited to join in the parade along the route as it passes your marina.
