Mrs. Roussell’s Classroom Newsletter Aug. 29 th – Sept. 2 nd This Week’s Assignments Math – We will start Math with addition. We will be working on adding whole numbers as well as column addition. Be looking for homework! Writing – We will be discussing what good writing has. We will be focusing on beautiful language and descriptive writing that shows rather than tells. Spelling – Students will be completing their first word sort. We will do this word sort as a whole class so everyone will have the same words. Reading – Our focus this week will be thoughtful log entries and distinguishing between the different genres. Students have chosen books from the classroom library and the school library. They will be reading these books during reading time while conference. Please be reading with your child at least 30 minutes nightly. Science - We will continue our soil unit and plan on finishing it up with a quiz on Tuesday and begin our rock unit. Reminders to Parents 1. Send in $5 for your child’s assignment book if you haven’t already. 2. Check your child’s assignment book nightly and ask them about their day at school.
