Target Audience My overall specific audience is simply people who enjoy the genre, R&B is a very open genre with lots of different styles within the genre which is why the genre attracts such a large & diverse audience that all like different things yet still enjoy the genre, this is something I want my magazine to be like, despite being a certain style and having a target audience in mind I want any fan of the genre to like the look of my magazine and want to read it. Age: in terms of a specific age range however, I plan on aiming for 16-25 I have decided this after researching online I have seen that this is the most frequent age group that like and listen to the genre the most Likes: a person who likes R&B, Hip-Hop and like to know backstories and details of their favourite artists Dislikes: genres that they don’t enjoy like they do R&B e.g: Classical music, Heavy Metal etc Education & employment: since my target audience is late teenagers at the very minimum the majority of this age group are very likely to be in a part time job while also in college/sixth form or university as a student and the people who are in their mid twenty's are very likely be in a full time job meaning having a magazine that has a similar price point to a lot of the other media magazines would allow my magazine to compete with other media magazines while also having a realistic price point based on its target audience where practically all of this age group will have some form of income whether it be students with part time jobs or even people in their twenties with full time jobs. Gender: I want my magazine to be enjoyable for both genders however I would say that the targeted gender for my magazine is male due to the similarities to the Hip-Hop & R&B magazines I have researched that also lean towards a more male audience. Class: (C/D) people who are students and work part time are on the lower end of the spectrum however this is balanced out as students don’t have much responsibilities meaning the money they do earn is usually to spend on items that aren’t necessities but are items they desire. As for the mid twenties aged people, they will have been in employment for a few years and will have a larger income and despite probably having more responsibilities, the larger income means that they will still have money to buy luxury items. Religion: Any religion. R&B is a very open genre with lots of different styles within the genre allowing it to attract a varied crowd Marital status: Not married as the target audience are very young and the majority of the audience will not be married Lifestyle: people who are younger have less responsibilities and a lot more free time and also listen to a lot of music in between or while studying, while exercising and in vehicles meaning they naturally have an interest in music and have the time to read magazines about it during free time
