GENDERFrom my questionnaire I found out that RnB/Hip Hop genres of magazine appeal to both males and females as I received 50% on each result of the genders. This means that my magazine must be targeted at males and females. Furthermore, on the Focus group interviews I have a mix of males and females in whom I asked. This means that males as well as females are interested in this genre. From these results, I need to make sure that the content within my magazine (such as, images, housestyle, typography and articles) are appealing to both genders and not bias. The colour schemes of the magazine the target audience expect to see are: red, blue, black, gold and white which does appeal to both men and women! Furthermore, the target audience (both men and women) have said that they prefer to see both sans serif font styles and serif font styles. This means that my magazine will include both font styles so they appeal to the target audience fully.

This cover appeals to both males and females because the Beyonce is a big artist who portraying sex appeal in this instance. The fact she is a well-known artist inspires women to want to be like her. However, the artist appeals to males because she is presenting sex appeal!

From my questionnaire I found out that the majority of the target audience are 17 and below. However, there was one person who was in the category of 18-20 and another person who was in the category of 21-29. In my Focus interviews the targeted audience are mainly 16/17. This means my magazine will be aimed at specifically 16-20 year olds but in a wider range of 16-29 year olds. This isso that it is appealing to everyone who is interested in this type of music. This means that the content within my magazine must be quite fun but at the same time quite serious. This is so that it engages the audience fully. I will make the magazine ‘fun’ by using bold, bright colours. I will make it serious by including serious and passionate artists and articles which are honest and serious.

Furthermore, the age category of the target audience relates closely to their occupations. In my questionnaire, the highest result I got was for students at College/Sixth Form which received a whopping 75%. This relates to the age group of the target audience of being around 16-20! Therefore, my magazine has appeal fully to this age group. However, from the survey I have to assume that the audience probably don’t have a job if they’re a student as they probably don’t have time. This means that the price of my magazine must be reasonably low so that they can afford the cost. From my questionnaire 40% said they are willing to pay £1-£2 however, 40% said they are willing to pay £2-£3. This means the price of my magazine will be in between the two categories and will probably be around £2.10 so that it is affordable for them.

OVERVIEW + OTHER

Most RnB genres of magazine are aimed at both males and females within the age group of 16-34. Therefore my RnB/Hip Hop genre of magazine will be targeted at people aged 16-20. It will be aimed at this age group because people within this age group are generally the people who buy music magazines (all but a couple of people due to my questionnaire findings). Furthermore, I found out that these people buy music magazines once a month referring to my questionnaire results. This means that my magazine will be published monthly to increase its sales as this is when the targeted audience tend to buy magazines!Additionally, due to my focus group interviews I have found out that the target audience are extremely interested in looking at pictures and reading articles on big music artists as they find these the most appealing. However, most people found that the fashion articles in this genre of magazine are also a feature which engages them into buying. Adding to this, putting an incentive to the magazine is always a winner and draws the audience into buying immediately! The audience of this genre do not enjoy articles which are irrelevant and boring along with the pages advertising and reviewing concerts therefore my magazine will not contain them as I want the audience to be fully interested!
