25 Boger John

Infant son of Lincoln Robert Boger and Louisa/Louise Sowers Boger. Brother of Anna May Boger, Clayton Boger, Edward Boger, Elizabeth E. Boger Boyer, Elsie A. Boger Lucas, Florence Boger Stoyer, Harry Boger and William Boger. Findagrave.com has a listing for a "Johnnie R. Boger" and a descendant of John Boger stated that John is believed to be interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence currently supports or refutes this possibility. (Note: findagrave.com has Johnnie R. Boger's D.O.D. listed as March 14, 1904 while John Boger's descendant states their records show a D.O.D. of March 17, 1903.) Daughter of John Sowers and Esther Becker Sowers. Wife of Lincoln Robert Boger. Mother of Anna May Boger, Bertha Boger, Clayton Boger, Edward Boger, Elizabeth E. Boger Boyer, Elsie A. Boger Lucas, Florence Boger Stoyer, Harry J. Boger, Helen Boger, John "Johnnie" Raymond Boger and William Boger. 27

29 Custard Jennie

Daughter of Joseph Custard. Wife of Adam Henry Long - married June 17, 1905. Another grave marker refers to an A.H. Long being married to an Annie Long, so this may refer to Adam Henry Long implying that Annie was a first wife and Jennie was his second wife. 30 Decker Diannah

Extremely worn grave marker lying flat in grass; first name and middle initial appear to be "Diannah E.". Definitely states she was the daughter of a Daniel and a Mary whose last name clearly begins with the letter "D" and appears to be possibly be "Decker". Her month, day and century of D.O.B. and D.O.D. are confirmed, however the years are worn but appear to be "51" and "52" respectively. Her age is confirmed as being 1 Y, 8 M and 3 D. A Daniel W. Decker, born 1826, was married to a Mary Webb Decker, born 1827, whom are both interred in the McCord Cemetery of Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, making their ages both in the mid-twenties when Diannah E. would have been born and died, but it is uncertain if these are her parents or why she would have been interred in Auburn, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania while her parents were interred elsewhere. 30

31 Deiter Charles

findagrave.com has a listing for a Charles Deiter as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this listing. Husband of Mary Matilda Dewalt Deiter. Father of Howard R. Deiter. 31

32 Deiter Mary

findagrave.com has a listing for a Mary Matilda Dewalt Deiter as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this listing. 33 Dewald Mary

Out-of-wedlock daughter of Charles Dewalt and Catharine Fenstermacher. Wife of Charles Deiter. Mother of Howard R. Deiter. 34

(Note: A George Dicks lived in Schuylkill County. He was born on 10/06/1882 and died 08/01/1970. Whether or not this is the same George Dicks is uncertain). 35

36 Dissinger Elizabeth

Out-of-wedlock daughter of Adam Hummel and Emmaline "Emma" M. Blaber Folk. (NOTE: Conflict on place of birth - either born in Auburn, PA or Minersville, PA.)(NOTE: Conflicting records on day of birth - either "2nd", "18th" or "21st"; conflict on year of birth as 1866 or 1868.) Sister or half-sister of Albert Francis Mengle, Caroline Louisa Petry Hurst Brophy, Rosey Mary (Folk) Foulk and William Daniel Petry. Wife of John G. Dissinger Sr. - (married in 1888). Mother of Anna/Annie J. Dissinger Kerchner; Bessie Dissinger Kline; Chester Dissinger; Elizabeth Dissinger Kleinfelter; Esther E. Dissinger; Helen E. Dissinger; Irvin Dissinger; John G. (Note: John Dissinger Jr. is also immortalized on the Veteran's Plaque Monument located in the center of the cemetery as having been a veteran of "P.N.G." - possibly "Pennsylvania National Guard" which was established in 1747?) 37

38 Dissinger John Sr.

Son of John Dissinger and Elizabeth Brubaker Dissinger. (Conflict on place of birth - born in either Schafferstown, PA or Lebanon, PA.) (Conflict on day of birth - either "22" or "26".) Dissinger; Irvin Dissinger; John G. Dissinger Jr., daughter Mitchell C. Dissinger; Nora M. Dissinger and Raymond E. Dissinger. (Conflict on date of death - findagrave.com states that his death certificate has his D.O.D. as December 17th, 1948 yet his grave marker is engraved with a D.O.D. of April 6, 1948) 38

39 Dissinger Mitchell

Daughter of Elizabeth "Lizzie" C. or G. Hummel Dissinger and John G. Dissinger Sr. Sister of Anna/Annie J. Page 7: auburna Web viewMother of Anna May Boger, Bertha Boger, Clayton Boger, Edward Boger, Elizabeth E. Boger Boyer, Elsie A. Boger Lucas, ... Sister of Alice Mellera Dewald,

42 Ditzler Charles

Son of Ambrose Ditzler and Sarah Elizabeth Long Rausch Ditzler. (Age: 9 months and 29 days) Brother of Benjamin P. Ditzler, Cathryne Ditzler, one unnamed infant boy and two unnamed stillborn boys. 42

43 Ditzler infant son

findagrave.com has a listing for a "Baby Ditzler" who is listed as an unnamed infant son of Ambrose Ditzler and Sarah Elizabeth Long Rausch Ditzler as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this listing. Although two other infant sons of Ambrose and Sarah have grave markers within this cemetery, both are clearly marked as "stillborn", yet the listing for "Baby Ditzler" indicates this child lived one day. Brother of Benjamin P. Ditzler, Cathryne Ditzler, Charles E. Ditzler and two unnamed stillborn boys. Since the five known interments of Ditzlers are all located within this section, there is a greater likelihood that this interment is also located within this section. 43

44 Ditzler Sarah

Daughter of Benjamin Long and Ellen Rebecca Faust Long. Sometimes referred to by her middle name "Elizabeth". Wife of first husband Edward Rausch and second husband Ambrose Ditzler. Mother of Benjamin Paul Ditzler, Cathryne Ditzler, Charles Edward Ditzler, one unnamed son who died in infancy and two stillborn sons. Findagrave.com has a listing for Sarah Elizabeth Long Rausch Ditzler as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. Since the five known interments of Ditzlers are all located within this section, there is a greater likelihood that this interment is also located within this section. 44

45 Ditzler stillborn son #1

Stillborn son #1 of Ambrose Ditzler and Sarah Elizabeth Long Rausch Ditzler. Brother of Benjamin P. Ditzler, Cathryne Ditzler, Charles E. Ditzler, one unnamed infant boy and an unnamed stillborn boy. 45

46 Ditzler stillborn son #2

Stillborn son #2 of Ambrose Ditzler and Sarah Elizabeth Long Rausch Ditzler. Brother of Benjamin P. Ditzler, Cathryne Ditzler, Charles E. Ditzler, one unnamed infant boy and an unnamed stillborn boy. 46

47 Duffert Henry

findagrave.com has a listing for a Henry Francis Duffert as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this claim. Son of Peter Duffert and Susanna Shadler Duffert. Husband of first wife (widow) Sarah Reinhart Dears Duffert (married Jan. 11, 1890 in Hamburg, PA) and second wife (widow) Lovina Tobias Kline Fisher Duffert (married April 20, 1913). 47

48 F. S.

Apparent grave marker with initials "S. F." only. Possibly the marker for a Sarah Faust whom is believed to have been interred within this cemetery. Since this marker is extremely distant from the only other interment within the cemetery with initials of S.F. (Salome “Sarah” Wildermuth Fahl), it would be unlikely to be her (Salome's) footstone misplaced. 48

Page 8: auburna Web viewMother of Anna May Boger, Bertha Boger, Clayton Boger, Edward Boger, Elizabeth E. Boger Boyer, Elsie A. Boger Lucas, ... Sister of Alice Mellera Dewald,

49 Fahl Abraham

Son of Henry Fahl and Salome "Sarah" Wildermuth Fahl. Brother of Catherine Anna Fahl Schaller, Joseph Fahl, Loweina Fahl and Sarah Fahl Wildermuth. (NOTE: findagrave.com had a similar entry for an Abraham Fahl as having been interred within the Zion's Cemetery in Orwigsburg, PA, but the grave stone depicted with that listing is the same stone found within the Auburn Cemetery and whose presence within the Auburn Cemetery has been physically verified.) 49

50 Fahl LoweinaDaughter of Henry and Salome "Sarah" Wildermuth Fahl. Sister of Abraham Fahl. 50

51 Fahl Salome

Wife of Henry Fahl. Mother of Abraham Fahl and Loweina Fahl. (NOTE: Discrepancy with first name. Her grave marker is engraved "Solome" while both of her children's grave markers located at this cemetery indicate her name was spelled "Salome". Additional historical records suggest the correct spelling was "Salome" rather than "Solome".) 51

52 Faust Alonzo

Son of Caroline (Rausch or Raush) Faust. (CONFLICT: Although this grave marker is engraved "Alonzo Faust" born in 1868, and although his marriage record and death certificate list him as the son of "Abraham Faust and Caroline Raush Faust", this individual would have been born over 3 years after Abraham Faust, Caroline's husband, had died. An 1880 census indicates that a "Henry Schultz," aged 12 (born circa 1868), was the out-of-wedlock son of Caroline Faust, indicating his father was a Schultz. Although it would be unlikely that Caroline could have possibly had two sons born within just a few months of each other when she was already a widow of Abraham Faust and later had a child by a Schultz, it is uncertain how Alonzo Faust and Henry Schultz could be confused the same person.) Brother or half-brother of Abraham Faust (Jr.?), James Faust, Sarah Faust and William R. Faust. Husband of Melinda Bensinger Herring Faust. Occupation: Railroad employee. 52

53 Faust Caroline

Wife of Abraham Faust (married November 18, 1854). Mother of Abraham Faust (Jr.? - born June 8, 1858), (Alonzo Faust or Henry Schultz), James Faust, Sarah Faust and William R. Faust. (CONFLICT: Although the grave marker is engraved "Alonzo Faust" born in 1868, that individual would have been born approx. 4 years after Abraham Faust, Caroline's husband, had died. An 1880 census indicates that a "Henry Schultz," aged 12, was the out-of-wedlock son of Caroline Faust, indicating his father was a Schultz. Although it would be unlikely that Caroline could have possibly had two sons born within just a few months of each other when she was already a widow of Abraham Faust and later that year had a child by a Schultz, it is uncertain how Alonzo Faust and Henry Schultz could be the same person.) 53

54 Faust James

Son of Abraham Faust and Caroline (Rausch or Raush) Faust. Brother or half-brother of Abraham Faust (Jr.?), Alonzo Faust (or Henry Schultz), Sarah Faust and William R. Faust. (CONFLICT: Although the grave marker is engraved "Alonzo Faust" born in 1868, that individual would have been born approx. 4 years after Abraham Faust, Caroline's husband, had died. Occupation: "brakeman" on the railroad. findagrave.com states James Faust was killed when he was run over by a train. 54

55 Faust Melinda

Daughter of George Bensinger and Carolina Klingerman Bensinger. Wife of first husband Amos Herring - married on March 26th, 1881 and second husband Alonzo Faust. Mother of Alonzo Herring; Annie Rebecca Herring; Daniel Herring; Edward Henry Herring; George W. Herring; Harry Herring; (Mary) Belle Herring Anderson and William Amos Herring. 55

56 Faust Sarah

Single (unwed) daughter of Abraham Faust and Caroline (Rausch or Raush) Faust. Sister or half-sister of Abraham Faust (Jr.?), Alonzo Faust (or Henry Schultz), James Faust and William R. Faust. (CONFLICT: Although the grave marker is engraved "Alonzo Faust" born in 1868, that individual would have been born approx. 4 years after Abraham Faust, Caroline's husband, had died. A grave memorial stating "AT REST" is located directly between Alonzo Faust's grave and John Faust's grave which could possibly be the marker for Sarah Faust. A second possibility is that of a simple marker which is located a few yards from the other Faust graves and contains only the initials "S. F.". 56

57 Fischer Rebecca Wife of Johann Fischer. 57

Page 10: auburna Web viewMother of Anna May Boger, Bertha Boger, Clayton Boger, Edward Boger, Elizabeth E. Boger Boyer, Elsie A. Boger Lucas, ... Sister of Alice Mellera Dewald,

58 Fisher Alice

(CONFLICT - One less-likely source stated that she is the daughter of Francis S. Kramer and Susannah Kramer and the sister of Annie Kramer, Carrie Kramer, Frederick Kramer, John Kramer and Thomas Kramer; a second more likely source states she is the daughter of George Kramer and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Shoner Kramer and sister of Amanda Kramer Fisher, Harry Kramer and Pheope (Pheobe?) Kramer Wenrich Wildermuth. This second source and assumed genealogical ties are more likely considering each individual listed is believed to have been interred within the Auburn area and her assumed sister Pheope (Pheobe?) Kramer Wenrich Wildermuth is interred within this same cemetery). Wife of Charles Fisher (Jr.?). Mother of Claude Fisher; Esther Amona Fisher Henne; George H. Fisher; Gladys Marie Fisher; Harry Fisher; Henry Fisher; Herbert Fisher; (Lovey or Lovie) Evangeline Fisher Moyer; Mabel Elizabeth Fisher; Marie "Mamie" Josephine Fisher Keim and three unnamed infant sons. 58

Brother of Claude Fisher; Esther Amona Fisher Henne; Gladys Marie Fisher; Harry Fisher; Henry Fisher; Herbert Fisher; Lovey (or Lovie) Evangeline Fisher Moyer; Mabel Elizabeth Fisher; Marie “Mamie” Josephine Fisher Keim and three unnamed infant sons of Alice and Charles Fisher. 60

61 Fisher Gladys

Daughter of Alice Kramer Fisher and Charles Fisher (Jr.?). Sister of Claude Fisher; Esther Amona Fisher Henne; George H. Fisher; Harry Fisher; Henry Fisher; Herbert Fisher; Lovey (or Lovie) Evangeline Fisher Moyer; Mabel Elizabeth Fisher; Marie “Mamie” Josephine Fisher Keim and three unnamed infant sons of Alice and Charles Fisher. 61

62 Fisher Harry

Son of Alice Kramer Fisher and Charles Fisher (Jr.?). Brother of Claude Fisher; Esther Amona Fisher Henne; George H. Fisher; Gladys Marie Fisher; Henry Fisher; Herbert Fisher; Lovey (or Lovie) Evangeline Fisher Moyer; Mabel Elizabeth Fisher; Marie “Mamie” Josephine Fisher Keim and three unnamed infant sons of Alice and Charles Fisher. (Note: Discrepancy on day of birth - grave marker inscribed the "17th" but baptismal records state "1st".) findagrave.com indicates that Harry Fisher never married. 62

63 Fisher infant son #1

Daughter of Charles Fisher (Jr.?) and Alice Kramer Fisher. Sister of Claude Fisher; Esther Amona Fisher Henne; George H. Fisher; Gladys Marie Fisher; Harry Fisher; Henry Fisher; Herbert Fisher; Lovey (or Lovie) Evangeline Fisher Moyer; Mabel Elizabeth Fisher and three unnamed infant sons of Alice and Charles Fisher. (Conflict: findagrave.com has a listing for a “Mamie” J. Fisher as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no definitive physical evidence is available to either support or refute this listing. Additionally, the listing indicates Mamie was interred at two years of age which would be in direct conflict with genealogical records indicating that Marie “Mamie” Josephine Fisher Keim, daughter of Charles Fisher and Alice Kramer Fisher, was married. A marker that is engraved with only the word "ASLEEP" is located amongst the Fisher burials adjacent to one of the infant sons of Alice and Charles Fisher. This marker doesn't appear to be directly affiliated with any other grave. While this marker may possibly be the marker for “Mamie” J. Fisher, it most likely is not the marker for Marie “Mamie” Josephine Fisher Keim since this type marker was usually only used for infants or young children). 66

67 Fry David

Private; Company B or I; 3rd Regt.; Independent Cavalry Battalion; Colored Infantry; Civil War

David Fry was a Private in the Colored Infantry during the Civil War, which virtually confirms he was of African American descent; yet interestingly he was interred with proper honors within what appears to have been an otherwise totally Caucasian cemetery at a time when segregation of races was common. David is believed to have served in the Independent Cavalry Battalion mustered in July of 1863 and discharged in December of 1863 under a Lt. Colonel Richard C. Dale with David serving in Company B. Military records list David's complexion as "light" with dark eyes and black hair; his height was recorded at 5'11" and his occupation was listed as "Farmer". David Fry is also immortalized on the Veteran's Plaque Monument located in the center of the cemetery. Husband of Hannah Fry. Father of Harry Fry, Irvin Fry and John Fry. 67

68 Fry Leroy (Jr.)

findagrave.com has a listing for a LeRoy Edward Fry, Jr. as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this listing. Stillborn son of LeRoy Edward Fry Sr. and Helen I. Smith Fry. Since the only other interment of a Fry is located within this section, there is a possibility that this interment may also be within the same section although any direct familial ties between the two individuals is uncertain at this time. 68

Daughter of Martin Haas and Mary Duffert Haas. Wife of Harry O. Koons. Mother of Charles Koons. Findagrave.com has a listing for Sally Haas Koons as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 74

75 Hall William 75

76 Hay William

William Hay, a Scottish immigrant who arrived in America on June 8th, 1828, was employed by the Schuylkill Navigation System Company as a canal lock tender in the general area of what later became Auburn, Pennsylvania. Since he was considered an "old Scotchman", the area became known as "Scotchman's Locks" before eventually taking on its official name of Auburn. His gravestone is actually engraved with his nickname of “the Old Scotchman”. 76

77 Heim KatharineWife of Jacob Ribge. Mother of Katie (Ribge) Ribkee Moyer and Lydia (Ribge) Ribkee. (NOTE: Both daughters Anglicized the Ribge surname to Ribkee). 77

78 Heisler Mamie

A "Pine Grove Herald" news article dated Friday, January 26, 1917 under the byline "Auburn" stated that sixteen year old Mamie (Koch) Heisler died "on Monday" from typhoid fever and would be "buried in the lower cemetery". The article said it was the third death in that household within eight weeks and that she was preceded by a brother and a grandfather. Since the byline was for Auburn, PA, the assumption would be that the cemetery would be in that town since no other town was mentioned. Within the town limits were only three public cemeteries, two of which were on the northern side of town, elevated above the majority of the town and adjacent to one another. The third, the Auburn Public Cemetery, was located on the southern portion of town at a lower elevation and would be the only cemetery of the three that could be described as "the lower cemetery". No physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 78

82 Herring Emma

Findagrave.com has an unsubstantiated listing for a Walter William Mengle as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. Within that same listing, it states that Walter was the (out-of-wedlock?) son of one Charles Mengle and one Emma Ney (Herring?), further stating that Emma "seems to have been married to Edward Herring at the time of Walter's birth." The listing further states that Emma "may have also been buried in the Auburn Cemetery in 1947"; however, there is no definitive physical evidence to either support or refute this claim. In the southwest quadrant of the cemetery (upper left corner when facing it from the road - Section 1-A), several unmarked field stones, slabs and monument bases are located within a scattering of "Herring" graves and one of these could possibly be the marker for this interment. Additionally, in the northwest quadrant of the cemetery (upper right corner when facing it from the road - Section 2-D), a few additional Herring interments are found which could be a possible second location for this interment. 82

No physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 99

100 Koch Mary

Wife of Benjamin Koch. (NOTE: An on-line genealogy for a Benjamin Koch of Auburn states he married a Mary Elizabeth Heim Koch born in 1827, had at least two children by her - Edward Koch and Susan Koch of Auburn, PA; and that Benjamin Koch allegedly had five different wives during his lifespan. While certain discrepancies suggest this is not the same "Benjamin Koch and Mary (Ann) Koch", the probability of two separate "Koch" marriages, both from the Auburn, PA area, both during that time-span and both whose spouses were named Benjamin and Mary seem unlikely.) 100

102 Koohas William

(findagrave.com contained an erroneous entry for the individual's surname as "Koohas" due to an illegible stamped metal nameplate affixed to the cross. (CONFLICT - One source stated she is the daughter of Francis S. Kramer Wenrich Wildermuth. This second source & assumed genealogical ties are more likely considering each individual listed is believed to have been interred within the Auburn area and her assumed sister Pheope (Pheobe?) Kramer Wenrich Wildermuth is interred within this same cemetery). Wife of Charles Fisher (Jr.?). Mother of Claude Fisher; Esther Amona Fisher Henne; George H. (findagrave.com has an unsubstantiated listing for Lucian F. Kramer, son of Alice L. Herbst Kramer & Abraham L. Kramer, as having been interred in this cemetery but states no known grave marker exists)(NOTE: An apparent grave marker adjacent to that of Esther Kramer is worn and illegible, but appears to have a first initial of "L." and a possible middle initial of "F." which could possibly be the grave marker for Lucian F. Kramer - the only known interment in this cemetery who actually has initials of L. F. is that of "Loweina Fahl" and her grave marker and footstone have been positively identified as being located in an entirely different section of this cemetery) 110

Lindemuth as having been interred at the "Auburn Cemetery" (Auburn Public Cemetery) but did not provide any photograph of his place of interment. Private Joseph H. A. Lindemuth does have a grave marker located in the "Auburn Church of God Cemetery" located in Auburn, PA but this is a totally different and separate cemetery than that of the "Auburn Cemetery". The submitter of this information was notified and the erroneous entry has been subsequently removed.) 117

118 Long Adam

Son of Michael Long and Elisabeth Geisler Long. Brother or half-brother of Ambrose Isaac Ditzler, Catharine Long Patsches, Elias Long, Emmalina Long Staller, James Monroe Long, Michael Long and Nathan Lang (Long). Husband of first wife Annie Long - a grave marker within this cemetery refers to an A.H. Long being married to an Annie Long, so this may be Adam H. Long. Husband of second wife Jennie Alma Custard Long (even though she was a seventeen years younger than Adam). NOTE: Baptismal records list an Adam Long married to a Jennie Long and having a child named Ara Long; a child named Clayton Henry Long, a child named Luther James Long in 1915 and a child named Robert Samuel Long in 1919. Father of Ara Annietta Long Einsig, Clayton Henry Long, Elizabeth M. Long Minnich, Floyd Lewis Long; Lillie E. Long, Luther James Long, Nora E. Long Einseg and Robert Samuel Long. (NOTE: Discrepancy on Adam H. Long's Date of Birth and Date of Death versus his inscribed age at death. Daughter of Joseph Custard. Wife of Adam Henry Long - married June 17, 1905. Another grave marker refers to an A.H. Mother of Ara Annietta Long, Clayton Henry Long, Elizabeth M. Long Minnich, Floyd Lewis Long, Luther James Long, Nora E. Long Einseg and Robert Samuel Long. 123

Son of Roy C. Long and Elizabeth Kissinger Long. Findagrave.com has a listing for this infant Long male as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 127

Luckenbill Brobst Fritz, Thomas Erwin Luckenbill and William Henry Luckenbill. Findagrave.com has a listing for Henry Luckenbill as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. As the only other two known interments of Luckenbills are both located in Section 2 - H, there is somewhat of a likelihood that this interment can also be found within that same section. 129

130 Luckenbill Mary

Daughter of Nicholas Bachert and Sarah Kramer Bachert. Sister of Amanda Bachert, Christian Bachert, Elisabeth Bachert, Emeline Bachert, George W. Bachert, Sabina Bachert Dewald, Sophia Bachert, Sybilla Bachert Strausser and William Bachert. Wife of Henry Luckenbill. Mother of Emma V. Luckenbill Bear Burkhart, Harry Luckenbill, John Emanuel Luckenbill, Martha Agnes Luckenbill Zimmerman, Robert Nicholas Luckenbill, Sarah E. Luckenbill Brobst Fritz, Thomas Erwin Luckenbill and William Henry Luckenbill. Findagrave.com as well as the genealogical website "Strausstown Roots" have listings for Mary Ann Bachert Luckenbill as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this claim. As the only other two known interments of Luckenbills are both located in Section 2 - H, there is somewhat of a likelihood that this interment can also be found within that same section. 130

131 Luckenbill Sarah

Daughter of Catharine Stout and William Stout. (NOTE: findagrave.com lists Sarah Stoudt Luckenbill's maiden name as having been spelled "Stoudt" yet lists both of her parent's surname as having been spelled "Stout". Uncertain as to which spelling is correct). Half-sister of Emma Stout Lentz. Wife of Emanuel Luckenbill. Mother of Annie Luckenbill Wike, Carrie Rebecca Luckenbill, Catherine Luckenbill Berger, Emma Luckenbill Strauser, Henry Luckenbill and Jackson Luckenbill. 131

132 M. H.

A small stone marker engraved with three initials is present with no other information available. No other interments with three matching initials are present in this cemetery, so it seems unlikely that this stone is a "footstone" for another interment. No further information is available at this time. 132

A small stone marker engraved with just three initials is present with no other information available. Although one other interment with three matching initials is present in this cemetery, it is unlikely that this marker would be a "foot stone" for that interment as the two markers are located in distinctly different sections of the cemetery. No further information is available at this time. 133

134 Manbeck Gloria

Daughter of Claude Manbeck and Helen Dissinger Manbeck. Findagrave.com has a listing for Gloria Elizabeth Manbeck; however, no physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this claim. 134

135 McFadden John

Veteran's memorial plaque located in the center of the cemetery indicates John McFadden was in the G.A.R.

No known marker for his individual grave is apparent on this site. An excerpt from the internet states that a John McFadden worked as a Superintendent for the Jefferson Furnace, Auburn, PA but this information is unsubstantiated and may, or may not, be the same John McFadden. 135

136 Mellon Laura

Daughter of Henry Mellon and Mary Heck Mellon. Sister or half-sister of Annie Mellon Rhein, Charles Mellon, Edward Mellon, Gertrude Mellon, Kate Mellon Long, Katie Elizabeth Mengel Petry, Sarah Mellon Overdorf and William Mellon. Wife of Charles Oscar Wenrich. Mother of an unnamed stillborn daughter, Ernest Wenrich, Luther Allen Wenrich, Mary E. Wenrich and William H. Wenrich. (NOTE: Unclear if the initial "M" is for "Mellon" or for a different middle name.) 136

137 Mengel Condrad

Son of Adam Mengel and Elizabeth Blatt Mengel. Brother of Adam Mengel, Anna Elizabeth Mengel, Catherine Elizabeth Mengel Faust, George Mengel, Jacob Mengel, John E. Mengel, Joseph Mengel, Maria Magdalena Mengel, Peter Mengel and Philip Mengel. Husband of Susannah Rischel Mengel. Father of Adam Mengel, Benjamin Mengel, Catharina Mengel (Matz), Esther Mengel, Franklin Mengel, Louisianna Mengel, Lucy Mengel (Hoffman), Manassas Mengel, Peter Mengel, Sarah Mengel, Sophia Mengel and William Mengel. (NOTE: A descendant states Conrad and Susanna were interred within this cemetery during the 1860s and had a grave marker but there is no physical evidence to support this presently. The website "Strausstown Roots" also seems to support this claim.) 137

138 Mengel Emma

Daughter of Angelina Seltzer Mengel and Manassas Mengel. Sister of Bertha S. Mengel Patchet, Bessie S. Mengel Schaeffer, Francis Seltzer Mengel, George Seltzer Mengel, Howard Seltzer Mengel, Ida Rose Mengel Mengel and Manassas Seltzer Mengel. 138

Daughter of Leonard Rishel and Magdalene Hittle (Rishel). Sister of Lea Rischel. Wife of Conrad Mengel. Mother of Adam Mengel, Benjamin Mengel, Catharina Mengel (Matz), Esther Mengel, Franklin Mengel, Louisianna Mengel, Lucy Mengel (Hoffman), Manassas Mengel, Peter Mengel, Sarah Mengel, Sophia Mengel and William Mengel. (NOTE: A descendant states Conrad and Susannah were interred within this cemetery during the 1860s and had a grave marker but there is no physical evidence to support this presently.) 139

140 Mengle Walter

Out of wedlock son of Charles Mengle & Emma Ney Herring. Emma appears to have been married to Edward Herring at the time of Walter's birth. Findagrave.com has a listing for Walter William Mengle as being interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to support or refute this claim. In the cemetery’s southwest quadrant, (upper left corner when facing from the road), several unmarked field stones, slabs and monument bases are located within a scattering of "Herring" graves. One of these could possibly be the marker for this interment. Additionally, in the northwest quadrant of the cemetery (upper right corner when facing it from the road - Section 2-D), a few additional Herring interments are found which could be a possible second location for this interment. 140

141 Metz David (Sr.?)

Son of William Metz and Sarah Ann(a) Lasch (or Losch) Metz. Brother of Clara (F or S). Metz Fitch, Louisa Metz, Rebecca Metz Mease, Sarah Metz and William Metz. Husband of first wife Lottie Jane Wolfe Metz and second wife Gertrude A. Fritz Eckert Metz. Father of Bertha V. Metz Smith, David Lewis Metz (Jr.?), Elmer Daniel Metz; Harvey L. Metz, Ivan Charles "Fritz" Metz; Lillie Violet Metz Haag (or Hagg), Mary Rebecca Metz, an unnamed infant boy who lived only a single day and William "Willie" Franklin Metz. (NOTE: Baptismal records list a "David and Lottie Metz" as having a child Mary Rebecca Metz born on October 1, 1915 - however, based on grave marker engravings, that would have made this "David and Lottie Metz" as having been only 13 and 15 years old respectively - which would be possible but not probable. However, a genealogical site "Strausstown Roots" has David's D.O.B. as 1892 and Lottie's D.O.B. as 1890, which would make them 23 and 25 years old respectively. As a result, we are deferring to the likelihood that the correct dates are provided by the genealogical site.) 141

Metz, Ivan Charles "Fritz" Metz; Lillie Violet Metz Haag (or Hagg), Mary Rebecca Metz, an unnamed infant boy who lived only a single day and William "Willie" Franklin Metz. Out-of-wedlock mother of Harvey Wilson Lamp whose father was Charles Lamp. 142

143 Metz son

Son of David Metz and Lottie Jane Wolfe Metz. Brother of Bertha Metz Smith, David Lewis Metz (Jr.?), Elmer Daniel Metz; Harvey Metz, Ivan Charles "Fritz" Metz; Lillie Violet Metz Haag (or Hagg), Mary Rebecca Metz and William "Willie" Franklin Metz. Half-brother of Harvey Wilson Lamp. Findagrave.com has a listing for this unnamed infant son of David and Lottie Metz as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no definitive physical evidence exists to either confirm or refute this claim. Immediately adjacent to the joint grave stone of David and Lottie Metz is a small memorial stone that simply reads "Hope" and may be a marker for this unnamed son.

146 Moyer Abraham

Son of Isaac Moyer and Mary Magdalena Ketner Moyer. Brother of Jackson Benneville Moyer, Maria Meyer (Moyer) and Rebecca Moyer Rahn. Husband of Rebecca Catharine Kramer Moyer. Father of Harry (or Henry) Z. Moyer, Jackson Moyer and Morgan Walter Moyer. 146

Page 24: auburna Web viewMother of Anna May Boger, Bertha Boger, Clayton Boger, Edward Boger, Elizabeth E. Boger Boyer, Elsie A. Boger Lucas, ... Sister of Alice Mellera Dewald,

147 Moyer Harry (or Henry)

Son of Abraham Moyer and Rebecca Catharine Kramer Moyer. Brother of Jackson Moyer and Morgan Walter Moyer. A newspaper article in the "Elk County advocate" dated January 10, 1878 has the byline "Auburn, Pa. January 1." which reads "A son of Abraham Mayer (Moyer), proprietor of the Delmonico Hotel, of this place, while celebrating the last of the old year last night shot part of his face and head away by the accidental discharge of a gun. Strange to say the boy still lives, though suffering terrible agony. The case baffles scientific ability, and the spectacle is presented of a human being living with half a head." While this is not totally conclusive as to being the same individual as Harry (Henry) Z. Moyer, factors which indicate the likelihood of them being the same individual are: (1) even though the article is from Elk County, the byline is that of "Auburn, PA" rather than any of the other Auburn-variations found within Pennsylvania; (2) Auburn, PA did in fact have a "Delmonico Hotel" during the year in question; (3) an Abraham Moyer did in fact serve a proprietor for this hotel for a period of time; (4) Harry, while not identified by name within the article, was still a juvenile at the time of the incident and therefore might have simply been referred to as "a son of Abraham"; and (5) Harry date of death was less than a month after this incident occurred and could easily have been a result of complications caused by this devastating injury. 147

148 Moyer J.

Grave marker is a simple stone marker with exaggerated/oversized initials of "J." and "M." and a much smaller surname of "Moyer" engraved in it with no further information inscribed; so it is unclear whether the initial "M." is definitely for a middle initial/name or simply the initial for the surname of "Moyer". Although a "Jackson Moyer" was related to Abraham Moyer, Rebecca Catharine Kramer Moyer, Harry (or Henry) Z. Moyer and Morgan Walter Moyer (all of whom are buried within this Auburn Public Cemetery), Jackson Moyer is actually interred within the Auburn Church of God Cemetery. 148

149 Moyer MorganSon of Abraham Moyer and Rebecca Catharine Kramer Moyer. Brother of Harry (or Henry) Z. Moyer and Jackson Moyer. 149

150 Moyer Norman (Jr.?)

One of two consecutive sons of Norman Moyer (Sr.?) and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Heiser Moyer whom they named Norman Moyer (after the first one died in infancy). Brother of (other) Norman Moyer, Paul Francis Moyer and William H. Moyer. Findagrave.com has a listing for two Norman Moyers as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical definitive evidence exists to either support nor refute this claim. Adjacent to the grave stone of his brother William H. Moyer is an old cinderblock and an erect triangular shape fieldstone, one of which may possibly be the grave marker for this interment. 150

152 Moyer Paul

Son of Norman Moyer (Sr.?) and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Heiser Moyer. Brother of two separate males consecutively named Norman Moyer (Jr.?) after the first one died in infancy (as did the second one and as did Paul Francis Moyer) and William H. Moyer. Findagrave.com has a listing for Paul Francis Moyer as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no definitive physical evidence exists to either support nor refute this claim. Adjacent to the grave stone of his brother William H. Moyer is an old cinderblock and an erect triangular shape fieldstone, one of which may possibly be the grave marker for this interment. 152

155 Murdock James

Son of Francis William Murdock and Mary Alice Faust Murdock. Brother of Edna M. Murdock; John Robert Murdock; Mamie L. Murdock, Norman Harry Murdock and William Francis Murdock. The genealogical website "Strausstown Roots" has a listing for this interment as having been within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 155

Father of Catherine Petry; Daniel Petry; Elizabeth Petry Moyer; Jacob Petry (Jr.?); Mary Petry and Rebecca Petry Seltzer. (An 1860 census shows a Jacob Petry of Auburn, PA living with a 13-year old girl named Emmaline M. "Emma" BLABER - relationship uncertain)(Possibly died on his 129-acre farm at 88 years of age) 158

159 Pierce Verna

Daughter of Philip Pierce and Emma Yerger Pierce. Findagrave.com has a listing for Verna Agnes Pierce as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 159

160 Rausch Caroline

Although it would be unlikely that Caroline could have possibly had two sons born within just a few months of each other when she was already a widow of Abraham Faust and later that year had a child by a Schultz, it is uncertain how Alonzo Faust and Henry Schultz could be the same person.) 160

161 Rausch Caroline

Daughter of Abraham Rausch and Emeline “Emma” Long Rausch. Sister of Abraham Rausch, Edward Rausch, Pauline Rausch Ditzler, Sabastion Rausch and Sallie Rausch. Wife of first husband Benjamin Long and second husband Charles Henry Aikman. Mother of Annie J. Long; Mary Helen Long Homewood and Roy Carson Long. 165

166 Raush Caroline

Wife of Abraham Faust (married November 18, 1854). Mother of Abraham Faust (Jr.? - born June 8, 1858), (Alonzo Faust or Henry Schultz), James Faust, Sarah Faust and William R. Faust. Seigfried and Sara Jane Seigfried Barron. Findagrave.com and the genealogical website "Strausstown Roots" have a listing for Howard Seigfried as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no definitive physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. A marker which simply states "AT REST" is located adjacent to the grave stone of his brother Reuben's interment site but to the left and slightly above his stone. While this may be a marker for this unnamed son, its position also allows that it may be the marker for an unnamed child of Charles and Laura Wenrich. 177

Sowers as having been interred within the Auburn Church of God; however, no definitive physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. Directly to the left of Daniel Sowers and Catharine Becker Sowers grave stones is a grave marker that simply reads "AT REST". This could possibly be the marker for Franklin S. Sowers’ interment. 187

188 Sowers Henry

Son of Monroe James Sowers and Sarah E. Walters Sowers. Brother of Florence Sowers DeShon; Helen May Sowers and an unnamed male child who died in infancy. 203 Stoudt Samuel

(findagrave.com had an unsubstantiated and somewhat dubious entry for the interment of a Samuel Stoudt in the Auburn Cemetery which has since been withdrawn. No photograph of his gravesite or grave marker is provided by the contributor. The information provided states he was born in Auburn but his residence was listed as Muhlenberg, Berks County, PA at the time of his demise. He is listed as having died of a heart attack in the cafeteria of the Rosedale Knitting Mill where he was employed for the last fifteen years of his life. The information also states "He made his home at the mill" implying he may have lived on-site. The contributor cites a spouse "Madella" but also lists a link to this "spouse's" interment information as one "Mandilla A. Ohlinger Cleaver" with no mention of the Stoudt surname in her listing's name. Additionally, "Mandilla A. Ohlinger Cleaver" is listed as having been twenty-six years younger than Samuel Stoudt, which isn't impossible for a spouse but not very probable, either. There is no physical evidence on site for the interment of Samuel Stoudt at this location and due to the apparently conflicting information this listing should be considered a probable error.) 203

204 Stoudt Sarah

Daughter of Catharine Stout and William Stout. (NOTE: findagrave.com lists Sarah Stoudt Luckenbill's maiden name as having been spelled "Stoudt" yet lists both of her parent's surname as having been spelled "Stout". Uncertain as to which spelling is correct). Half-sister Emma Stout Lentz. Wife of Emanuel Luckenbill. Mother of Annie Luckenbill Wike, Carrie Rebecca Luckenbill, Catherine Luckenbill Berger (possibly the same person as "Carrie"?), Emma Luckenbill Strauser, Henry Luckenbill & Jackson Luckenbill. 204

Daughter of Catharine Sowers Swoyer and John Swoyer. Sister of Sarah E. Swoyer Froeschle. Wife of William H. Steffy Sr. - (married November 18, 1898). Mother of Alverna Steffy, Guy R. 207 Swoyer John

Son of John Swoyer and Elizabeth Betz Swoyer. Husband of Catharine Sowers Swoyer. Father of Carrie B. Swoyer Steffy and Sarah E. Swoyer Froeschle. (NOTE: Grave marker appears to have a date of death of April 19th, yet a genealogical source states the date of death as April 10th.) 207

208 Vanderheyden Anna

Daughter of Rebeca Vanderheyden and Samuel G. Vanderheyden. Sister of Elizabeth Vanderheyden Bickel, Emma May Vanderheyden Van Horn and Samuel George Vanderheyden. 208

209 Vanderheyden Samuel

Son of Rebeca Vanderheyden and Samuel G. Vanderheyden. Brother of Anna Maria Vanderheyden, Elizabeth Vanderheyden Bickel and Emma May Vanderheyden Van Horn. (NOTE: findagrave.com lists D.O.B. as November 18, 1854 and D.O.D. as December 20, 1857; yet magnification of grave marker engravings appear to suggest multiple conflicts as the D.O.B. engraved appears to be November 17, 1854, the D.O.D. does appear to be December 20, 1857 yet the engraving of his age at time of death is 2 years, 1 month and 2 days...so the apparent dates of November 17th and 20th do not coincide with "2 days", nor do the years of 1854 and 1857 coincide with the "2 years". Uncertain of which dates, if any, are correct.) 209

210 WdOwiak AlexBorn in Russia. Son of Stephen WdOwiak. Husband of Antoinette Kolody WdOwiak. Father of Carolina WdOwiak and Peter WdOwiak. 210

213 Webber Bernard

214 Webber Catharine Wife of Bernard "Barney" Webber. Mother of Sarah Webber Long. 214

215 Webber Maryann

Wife of Benjamin Webber. (NOTE: Grave marker engravings are badly worn to the point of being virtually illegible so findagrave.com contributor has submitted an estimation of possible information for this entry). 215

216 Wenerich Franklin

Son of Adam Wenerich and Sarah Koch Wenerich. Findagrave.com has a listing for Franklin Washington Wenerich as having been interred within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 216

217 Wenrich Alfred

Son of John Adam Wenrich and Rebecca Schwenk Wenrich. Husband of Mary Ann Sowers Wenrich. Father of Annie Missouri Wenrich Warner, Charles Oscar Wenrich, Emma Elmira Wenrich Bensinger, Fred A. Wenrich, Ida Louise Wenrich Shollenberger and William Francis Wenrich. 217

219 Wenrich daughter

Still born daughter of Charles Oscar Wenrich and Laura M. Mellon Wenrich. Sister of Ernest Wenrich, Luther Allen Wenrich, Mary E. Wenrich and William H. Wenrich. Findagrave.com has a listing for this stillborn daughter; however, no definitive physical evidence exists to either support nor refute this claim. A marker at the bottom left corner of Charles Oscar Wenrich's and Laura M. Mellon Wenrich's shared plot is engraved "At Rest", and while it may possibly be the marker for this interment, its location is such that it may possibly be the marker for an unnamed infant Seigfried. 219

220 Wenrich Laura

Daughter of Henry Mellon and Mary Heck Mellon. Sister or half-sister of Annie Mellon Rhein, Charles Mellon, Edward Mellon, Gertrude Mellon, Kate Mellon, Katie Elizabeth Mengel Petry, Sarah Mellon and William Mellon. Wife of Charles Oscar Wenrich. Mother of an unnamed stillborn daughter, Ernest Wenrich, Luther Allen Wenrich, Mary E. Wenrich and William H. Wenrich. 223 Wenrich Pheope* (Phoebe)

(NOTE: 1900 Census lists a Pheobe Kramer, born in 1877, was residing in Auburn and single at the time of census.) Daughter of George Kramer and Elizabeth (Schoener or Shoener) Kramer. Sister of Alice Kramer Fisher, Amanda Kramer Fisher and Harry Kramer. Gave birth to an out-of-wedlock daughter in 1897 when she was nineteen years old (daughter - Edna May Ney Schaffner) who was fathered by Benjamin Ney. Married Frank Wenrich in 1905. Widowed and married Edward F. Wildemuth (or Wildermuth) in 1908. 223

224 Wenrich William

Son of Alfred Wellington Henry Wenrich and Mary Ann Sowers Wenrich. Brother of Annie Missouri Wenrich Warner, Charles Oscar Wenrich, Emma Elmira Wenrich Bensinger, Fred A. Wenrich and Ida Louise Wenrich Shollenberger. findagrave.com as well as "Strausstown Roots" indicate William Francis Wenrich never married. (An October 31, 1914 article in the newspaper the "Harrisburg Telegraph" states that a "man who gave his name as William Wenrich of Auburn, PA was arrested in Royalton by Constable Lewis Miller" for being suspected of stealing a horse and carriage from an Edward Spangler in Myerstown, PA. The interred William Wenrich would have been 29 years of age at the time of the incident. Although this information might pertain to this interment, it should be noted that (a) at the time of this article, the individual named was only suspected of, not proven nor found guilty of, stealing the horse and carriage, (b) the suspect "gave his name as William Wenrich" - which implies he did not have any definitive form of identification upon him at the time of arrest and could have given a false name, (c) the suspect may have later been tried and acquitted or found not guilty of any and all charges; and (d) there may have been more than one William Wenrich living in the Auburn area at that time.) 224

225 Wike Sarah

Daughter of William Wike and Harriet White. Sister of Alice Rebecca Wike Baldinger; Charles D. Wike; Deppy Wike (female); Emma T. Wike Berger; Esther Jane Wike Nein; Etta Wike; Irvin Wike; John Wike; Sady Wike Fisher and William H. Wike. The genealogical website "Strausstown Roots" has a listing for this interment as having been within the Auburn Public Cemetery; however, no physical evidence exists to either support or refute this claim. 225

226 Wildemuth Pheope* (Phoebe)

(NOTE: 1900 Census lists a Pheobe Kramer, born in 1877, was residing in Auburn and single at the time of census.) Daughter of George Kramer and Elizabeth (Schoener or Shoener) Kramer. Sister of Alice Kramer Fisher, Amanda Kramer Fisher and Harry Kramer. Gave birth to an out-of-wedlock daughter in 1897 when she was nineteen years old (daughter - Edna May Ney Schaffner) who was fathered by Benjamin Ney. Married Frank Wenrich in 1905. 227 Wildermuth Salome

Wife of Henry Fahl. Mother of Abraham Fahl and Loweina Fahl. (NOTE: Discrepancy with first name. Her grave marker is engraved "Solome" while both of her children's grave markers located at this cemetery indicate her name was spelled "Salome". Additional historical records suggest the correct spelling was "Salome" rather than "Solome".) 227

228 Witmier MaryDaughter of Charles Oscar Wenrich and Laura M. Mellon Wenrich. Sister of Ernest Wenrich, Luther Allen Wenrich and William H. Wenrich. 228

229 Wolfe Lottie

Daughter of Jacob Wolfe and Jane Heinbach Wolfe. Wife of David Lewis Metz (Sr.?). As a result, we are deferring to the likelihood that the correct dates are provided by the genealogical site.) Mother of Bertha V. Metz Smith, David Lewis Metz (Jr.?), Elmer Daniel Metz; Harvey L. Metz, Ivan Charles "Fritz" Metz; Lillie Violet Metz Haag (or Hagg), Mary R. Metz, an unnamed infant boy who lived only a single day and William "Willie" Franklin Metz. Out-of-wedlock mother of Harvey Wilson Lamp whose father was Charles Lamp. 229
