From the Desk of Reynardo Nikko Gutierrez

Dear ATTU Staff, Members, Associates, Affiliates, Martial Arts Family and Friends.

Greetings from the American Temple Training Union, ATTU, Executive Board. Here we are with our October issue filled with exciting new articles, events and especially latest developments within our community.

I normally highlight some of the contents in each issue, however this time I will arouse your curiosity and let you browse thru and find what you are looking for yourselves. There is a more pressing matter I wish to address with you.

A major development within our Martial Arts community has come to our attention and Federal statutes and penalties are not only being implemented but strictly enforced. Currently the target of these Federal Statutes are those that were coined as "Paper Dragons" within the Martial Arts community, specifically false certifications and documentation of promotions to PhD' s, and Doctorates and 12th Dans by paper mills organizations and individuals issuing these false documents. This being noted, it has come to our attention that it is 100% illegal in the United States IAW Federal Mandates and Civil Codes 18A:3-15.1., in layman's terms, "That a person shall not append to his/her name, the titles PhD, or Dr., unless it was duly earn and authorized/issued by an accredited institution authorized by the Commission on Higher Education". Quite simply one cannot be recognized as a PhD, or Dr. unless you have earn the degree authorizing so by an accredited institution and earn it on an occupation that provides/requires this classification.

Paper mill organizations and individuals issuing and or submitting these false credentials are in direct violation of Federal laws and will be subject to penalties beginning with $1000.00 fines for EACH violation. This is just the tip of the iceberg as you can see Federal Agencies are beginning with the violations from the top.

Page 7: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

After reading the Civil Codes and Federal Mandates I advised both our President, Sheila Elam and Founder, Sha Poe Ryu Anthony G. Elam, that we should discontinue publishing the above titles on anyone who submits articles or biographies etc., as a precaution to prevent legal action by federal authorities if any, towards our honorable organization. Authorizing these measures to be implemented immediately our Executive Board unfortunately therefore advised and will advise everyone that we will no longer publish the titles PhD, Dr., or anyone professing to be over 10 Dan i.e. 12th Dan on any Martial Artist as a cautionary measure to prevent any legal action of the same.

On behalf of the ATTU Executive Board, I extend their apologies as well as mine for any discomfort if any that this may have on any of you. It is a necessity that we uphold the high standards of integrity founded on the principles of honor. We know as well that these over zealous individuals and organizations are to blame for these recent developments and actions, and hope that you understand our stand on this.

Should any of you desire to read these Federal Mandates and Civil Codes yourselves please feel free to contact me at [email protected], I will be more than happy to share them with you at anytime.

I hope that his recent development does not sway you from our organization and many will continue to support our vision by your continued contributing of articles, events, flyers etc. With all sincerity, we greatly appreciate your loyalty and support.

In Budo,

Reynardo Nikko Gutierrez, Soke

ATTU in conjunction with Action Martial Arts Magazine is taking a hard stand against fraud within the martial arts industry. Further, many other World Martial Arts organizations have and are continuing to rally together around this important issue that has virtually raped the martial arts community. Individuals, groups and organizations that have fraudulently issued various certifications in the form of Dr's and PHD's and portrayed themselves to be something they are not and have under law committed fraud with and towards the general public are now being put under the lime light and arrested for such fraudulent actions.

To find out more about this issue and other important martial art topics and issues, ATTU strongly urges its readers and members to call into the radio show and listen and voice your opinions. It is ATTU's expressed hope that these “Paper Dragons” are stopped before innocent blood is spilled and the public is robbed further.

ATTU STANDING PROUD & STRONG ! ATTU's president Sheila K. Elam and grand daughters were invited to represent and ride on the UNITED STEELWORKS Float in this years annual Morgan Co. Sorghum Festival Parade. Our ATTU President took “GREAT PRIDE” in representing LOCAL 9148 as well as ATTU and it's members. Everyone had a great time listening to bands, viewing all of the crafts, visiting with family and friends as well as enjoying great food. The spirit of Morgan Co. residents was one of business as usual, smiles, laughter and the same friendly down home hospitality. Regardless of the EF-3 Tornado that struck Morgan Co. on March 2nd 2012, this years Sorghum Festival is once again prof of the resilient spirit found in a small Eastern KY. town when friends and family come together as a community. When we stop and reflect on tragedies and horrific events, we find this same spirit throughout our nation, the American People and the American Spirit is as strong today as it was when this great nation took her place beside all the great nations of the world !

ATTU UPDATE New State Director, NY. ( Chris Wilcox )My interest in martial arts began at an early age. I spent many hours and weekends imitating the great masters from Kung Fu movies my father took me to see. Friends of my father proficient in the Arts, saw potential in me and began teaching me various styles and techniques. I knew many who suffered at the hands of a neighborhood bullies and did not want this for my family and love ones. So it became necessary for me to learn so I could share my knowledge. Over the years I have been fortunate to make acquaintances and learn from many men who taught me various techniques; Street Fighting, Basic Techniques, Philosophy on Life and Diversity, Practical Weapons, Kung Fu, Breathing, Dragon Techniques, Toyka Ryu, “Bad Position” Philosophy, Montu Dances and Self Defense Philosophy. Through these, I developed my own unique style “The Cross Technique, The Art of Escape” a RBF (Reality-Bases Fighting) Style. I have been teaching my technique, The Cross Technique, The Art of Escape for well over a decade. I have groomed four instructors and taught my techniques to women and children in my community. This blend of breathing, dance, isometric conditioning and engagement offers an effective self-offense program along with personal development. This formula for success makes it easier to meet the challenges faced in everyday life My mission is to teach mental and physical self-defense/offense as well as developing healthy mind and body I want people to learn about themselves. If you know yourself you understand, trust and act upon your core instinct, which factors in on avoiding and/or neutralizing unwanted situations. My intent is to provide a platform for a healthy harmonious way of life.

My name is Khaaliqu Osiris Wilcox I am the senior instructor of the school of the kemetic sciences, My father and founder Christopher Wilcox has been instucting me in the 'cross technique for over 10 years. I am 20 years old and owe my life to the 'cross-technique', because it has helped me with my asthma. The system has taught me to breath from my inner core, in order to steady my breathing since child hood. The founder of our style is not only my father but my master in our martial art system. My training began when I was 10 years old, it was intense. I willingly trained with a couple friends of our founder, I began punch a tree and kicking it for hours, through the rain an all, but not before he taught me to pray to the tree an let it know that I ment it no harm. I just needed to feel the strength of the tree an become as hard as the exterior of the tree. It was more then physical training, It was spiritual. As our founder always wanted me to be better then him and that lead me into fights that were "not in the spotlight" as a co-worker of mine would say. I have had guns snd knives pulled on me and other objects which caused me to panic in my mind while thinking about the words our founder would say like "Calm Down, Breath," and that is what helped me to survive. I was once attacked on my way to school by a group of boys that looked like they ment no good. I was minding my business listening to music with my head phones on, while waiting on the D train headed to Coney Island where my school was located. I saw the group of boys messing with a young asian boy, further down the train and figured I didn't want to be dragged into an altercation on my way to school in which I was already late. Once I considered this I figured I would switch cars... so I did. I arrived on the next car and took my seat, at the next stop the boys got on the car I was on alone and proceeded to surround me. I hoped up and moved to wear my back was against the door and crossed my hands and got ready. I was attacked the whole time the train was stopped by these boys and handled myself. I began to get tired and at the next stop I attempted to bum rush through the boys an exit the train when the doors opened and run but it didnt happen that way. My bookbag was held onto so I couldn't run, so I crossed out of it but by that time I was surrounded on the train platform again alone. I proceeded to redirect my attackers using the cross-technique until there was one left. The last remaining attacker drew a knife while another one attacked me from my left. I was able to not get stabbed by the knife but was slashed across my eyebrow leaving a permanent scare that keeps this memory in my head everytime I look at it and realize that if I wasn't trained I may be missing an eye and looking like rapper Slick Rick. But in all seriousness I thank my father, the founder and my martial art master, who has taught me to be responsible for my actions to myself and my community... it took alot of discipline to master the 'toy' exercise tool for tension used in strengthening the body, also alot of focus; learning the sensitivity training and techniques of the 'cross' skill. I owe my life to the school of the kemetic and the cross technique and the founder , MY father Christopher Wilcox. I am also looking forward to being a member of the A.T.T.U. so I CAN FURTHER continue to honor myself and 'THE SCHOOL OF THE KEMETIC SCIENCES AND THE CROSS- TECHNIQUE'...LASTLY BUT NOT LEAST, My father Christopher Wilcox...

ATTU UPDATE My name is Oliver Antoine, I am the senior instructor of the school of the kemetic sciences, Christopher Wilcox has been instructing me in the 'cross technique for over 10 years. I am 22 years old now and I owe my life to the 'cross-technique' because when I first met master Chris through his son Osiris, I was a little wayward being a leader of a gang and all. I was in and out of school being disrespectful to my elders and peers, I thought I was a tough guy being that I had to fight my way to the top of being leader in the gang. When I met Osiris he used to spar with me in street, he would always use the 'cross-technique on me and make me look like a little kid no matter what I tried to do to him. After being frustrated and humiliated in the street a few times made me go home with him to learn the 'cross-technique' from his father, master Chris, but it wasn't easy , master Chris taught me ancestral philosophy, it changed how I viewed myself and others around me and it taught me that I had to be responsible for my actions to myself and my community. It took a lot of discipline to master the 'toy' exercise tool for tension used in strengthening the body, also a lot of focus; learning the sensitivity training and techniques of the 'cross' skill changed my life from unconscious thug to a conscious community leader. I had one incident befall me while learning the 'cross-technique' where 3 guys accused me of something I didn't do, they wanted to take my life because of it, WHEN THEY PULLED GUNS ON ME ,I WENT INTO MONTU WARRIOR MODE and used the cross technique to secure my safety and ultimate escape. I owe my life to the school of the kemetic and the cross technique, MY godfather and Founder Mr. Christopher Wilcox. I am also proud to be a member of A.T.T.U. so I CAN FURTHER continue to honor myself and 'THE SCHOOL OF THE KEMETIC SCIENCES AND THE CROSS- TECHNIQUE'...LASTLY BUT NOT THE LAST, Master Mr. Christopher Wilcox...

I have been practicing Martial Arts for the past 40 years and teaching for 30 years. I started taking Tae Kwon Do in 1972. After studying Tae Kwon Do, I started taking Wing Chun Kung Fu and have been practicing Wing Chun since 1978. I have studied under World renowned Teachers for 15 years in the arts of Wing Chun, Baguazhang, Hsing I, and Chi Kung exercises for health. I also perform chi healing for people with Arthritis, Carpel Tunnel, Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease, and any other pain in the body. Over the years I have trained Law Enforcement, The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Marine Corps, Students, High level Black Belts, College Students at Clark Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia; Seminars fighting Domestic Violence-Mary Hall Freedom House in Atlanta, Georgia; Seminars teaching energy for Health and Martial Arts, Zoo Atlanta performance with Master Shawn Xiangyang Liu ; a 31st generation disciple of Shaolin Temple, Good Day Atlanta TV spot on Domestic Violence, and numerous other seminars. I also have a DVD Steve Kraselsky's Self Defense for Women available through the internet with Barnes and Noble, Walmart, Target, and can be ordered by email at [email protected]. Currently I am finishing my degree in Criminal Justice, and teaching in Atlanta, Georgia, China's Internal Systems of Baguazhang, Five Fist of Hsing Yi, Chi Kung, Tai Chi exercises for health, Six Daoist Sounds, Chi healing, and more. I also teach the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu. When I started practicing Baguazhang a round ten years ago, I knew it would be a challenge after practicing Wing Chun for 20+ years at this time. I knew it was considered the hardest system to learn, and one of China's main three internal systems. The other systems are Tai Chi and Hsing Yi. The reason it is hard is that the kua's or forms are performed on both sides, right and left. My Sifu had me walking the circle when I first started practicing the Lung Hsin system or Dragon Heart System. I would walk for hours to integrate chi breathing with proper form. This went on for weeks and I could see improvement by starting out in the system like this. My Sifu told me this is the best way to learn Bagua, and it evolves you into a state of proper rooting and breathing as you walk the circle. There is more to walking the circle than meets the eye,as there are many different transitions occurring as you practice. Some are you must have your legs slightly bent to create rooting into the Earth as you walk. Also you must turn your waist inwards towards the circle as you walk and your spine should be straight. Proper chi breathing must be done as you walk the circle also. Hand positions are very important and the fingers should be spread , but not straining. The body should be relaxed ,and not tense. There are different stepping methods in Bagua, also. I prefer heel to toe walking as it develops deep rooting practice. Other methods are mud stepping or chicken stepping. When you first learn walking the circle,it is just the beginning of a very intricate system called Baguazhang. They say in China it takes ten years to learn this system, and I truly believe they are right.

Page 23: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

China has three major internal Kung Fu systems utilizing Chi energy. These systems are Taijiquan, Xingyiquan, and Baguazhang. These systems utilize chi breathing for improving your health, and emphasize a peaceful and calm mind while practicing these arts. They also develop internal power as far as the Martial Arts are concerned. This power is from the development of chi energy in the body and when applied is extremely powerful. This power is known as Jin. Taijiquan was developed during the years of 960 A.D.-1279 A.D. At Wu Dan Mountain in China. Tai Chi is a slow movement art. There are different systems of Tai Chi and all of them emphasize the development of chi, and this is accomplished through Chi Kung training. Chi Kung means energy work. Tai Chi is a very popular art that is being practiced all over the World today. By practicing Tai Chi you can improve your health and also be able to protect yourself when the need arises. Xingyiquan was developed in 1103-1141 A.D. in China and is an art that is practiced utilizing chi energy and concentration is in the dantian. This area is one and a half inches below the belly button. By developing chi energy, this is applied in the punches that Xing Yi is so famous for. This system has devastating power in its punches and is practiced all over the World today. Baguazhang is the third internal system that utilizes chi energy both for health and Martial Art. This art was created between 1866 and 1880 A.D. in Hebei province in China. Baguazhang develops circular energy by walking in a circle, using chi breathing as you walk, and spiraling motion is also in this movement. This system is said to be the hardest to learn, as it is practiced on both sides of right and left when performing the forms. Baguazhang was a system that the Imperial guards used in protecting the Emperor of China. It has devastating palm strikes using chi energy and also kicking techniques. Baguazhang is very popular in the World today, but takes at least 7- 10 years to learn the art properly. Developing internal Chi is the main focus in this art. These three internal systems develop chi energy and improved health. If you practice any of these systems, you will develop great strength both in mind and body.

Page 24: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

My journey into Chi Healing began five years ago when Iperformed Chi Healing on my Wife who had been diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. After undergoing major surgery to remove a tumor and the removal of lymph nodes under her left arm, we were told that swelling can occur because of the lymph nodes being removed. One day after she had returned from the Doctor for a checkup, there was swelling in her left hand and it was so severe that you could not see her veins in her hand. I told her I was going to try and remove the swelling and painfrom her hand by performing Chi Healing. I waved my hand over her hand and performed a few other motions without touching her for around one minute, and the swelling and pain suddenly disappeared, and five years later she is still fine. Prior to this,I had been practicing Chi Gong for twenty five years and teaching about energy to my students. I never did any healing during this time. After I performed Chi Healing on my Wife, I continued teaching the Chinese Martial Arts and it was not till five years later that I decided to again try Chi Healing onsomeone. I was in the Insurance business and I had customers who had preformed arthritis and carpel tunnel. I remember meeting the sister of one of my customers and she had gloves on both of her hands, and major carpel tunnel syndrome. I told her about how I performed Chi Healing on my Wife five years prior, and she agreed to let me try Chi Healing on her. I did the same technique on her and the pain and swelling went out of her hands within a few minutes. She was ecstatic and shocked that this could happen. After a few weeks I called her back and she was still fine. I then decided that I would do Chi Healing on anyone in pain that I ran into on the street, and this is how eight months later I have performed Chi Healing on over 450 people. I do not chargefor Chi Healing as I feel like it is a gift and I do not touch anyone, I only do four hand motions and people are being healed from pain and swelling within a few minutes, normally one to two minutes per area of where the pain is. It is very hard to comprehend how this can happen, but there are numerous witnesses and documented film showingChi Healing being performed. I recently spoke to my friend, MasterShawn Liu,a 31st generation Shaolin Monk who grew up at the ShaolinTemple in China and he told me that it is part gift and part Chi energy. I will continue doing my part in helping people in pain, and letting the Medical World know that they should also investigate and study about how Chi Gong can help someone. I want to thank my good friend, Sha Poe Ryu Elam for his help in letting the World know that Chi energy can help you in having better health, and also developing internal power in your Martial Art.

Thank You,Sifu Steve Kraselsky

After 43-years on my martial path I have began a “new” and exciting endeavor in to unlocking the ancient secrets to developing true chi. Call it fate or destiny either one that I met Sifu Steve Kraselsky through him becoming a member of my humble organization by way of our Vice President Grandmaster Robert A. Zellner, founder of RA'ZEL X-TREME TACTICAL DEFENSE SYSTEMS. After talking with Sifu Steve and sharing various information with each other concerning our backgrounds in the martial arts, I found we had much in common primarily because of my Shaolin background and my mind set for developing true chi. When Sifu Steve began explaining to me about the art of Baguazhang and how it was considered the hardest Kung Fu system to master it intrigued me, because I had studied Kung Fu for many years because it is part of what makes up the foundation of our organizations style called Sha Soo Doo Jitsu Ryu. Therefore, after discussing Baguazhang with him at length and in detail and always looking to perfect our style in an effort to give my students the best I could provide them with, I decided to challenge his teaching and the system because I have a strict rule about introducing any style or technique into Sha Soo Doo Jitsu Ryu. Before I introduce or embed any style or technique it must be proven and it must be truly combat worthy due to the fact that we are founded in what is refereed to as RBF, which stands for “Reality Based Fighting. Therefore Sifu Steve shared a few Baguazhang techniques with me and I proved them with a few of my students as far as combat application and ease of movement and I found the techniques to be more than applicable in a given combat situation as well as naturally adaptable and simple to teach. Further, Sifu Steve was successful in teaching me the basic concept and proper technique for Walking The Circle which is fundamental when studying Baguazhang. He was also successful in teaching me the coveted secrete of true chi breathing, cultivating and exploding the energy through my palm using whatis refereed to as Jin Energy, which is a combination of both Chiand Kinetic Energies. Therefore, once again I challenged the system, I had always been able to brake three boards with my hand and in order to prove that true chi energy was present I challenged myself to do something I had never done before, I would break five boards flat together with my hand. Therefore, under the personal instruction of Sifu Steve, I began training as directed to break the five boards, after approximately five weeks of training each day I met my challenge and completed the task of breaking the five boards. Today I have set a new goal for myself to obtain by our next issue and that is to break seven boards flat together in an effort to prove that with proper training and true martial dedication that chi energy will continue to cultivate and become stronger over a period of time.

Now that I have began my Baguazhang journey and have found a great Sifu whocan provide me various information concerning my training and answer my questions concerning Baguazhang, I will continue this fascinating path into the true development of chi. Personally, I have not just found a great Sifu “but” a great friend, Sifu Steve's credentials are exemplary. Some of his personal friends consist of Shawn Lui 31st Generation Shaolin Monk, Grandmaster Francis Fong a World Renowned Wind Chu master, Sifu Anthony Goh, President of the United States WUSHU / Kung Fu Federation, Sifu Steve was invited to China as an U.S. Delegate in 1998 and 1999 by Anthony Goh. He has also taught Collage Programs, High Level Black Belts, Law Enforcement, GBI – Georgia Bureo Of Investigation and the Marines. Sifu Steve is also the President of Self Defense Inc. which is Registered as a Government Contractor and is CCR-Licensed to provide training to the Secret Service, FBI and CIA. He has 40 plus years in the martial arts and 30 years of teaching and has obtained a unique gift for healing various pains for others, ATTU has video documented evidence of his unique gift. His ability to both teach and transmit his knowledge is second to none and I am confident that “not only” will I meet my next goal “but” be setting new ones under his instruction in the art of Baguazhang.

"A New Journey, Baguazhang "

I recently began my training into Baguazhang Lung Hsing, under the instruction of Sifu Steve Kraselsky. As easy as it appeared it was not. I quickly discovered that it is more complex than I imagined it to be. Not so much the complexity of the flow of movements but actually the understanding of the breathing for cultivating the chi energy.

I actually didn't notice anything at all until later on. By habit, after any training that I do I end my sessions with Makiwara training on any object or surface nearest to me, which in this case was a tree. (I was in a remote area at Clove Lakes Park near me). I normally palm strike lightly before beginning my training, warming up, normally palm strike around the surface getting ready to give a few blows. On the first palm strike, what I consider a light one mind you, a piece of the bark flew off! I found it strange and figured it was just loose to begin with. Feeling and checking that the rest of the area at eye level wasn't, I noticed that my hands were pumped so to speak with veins bigger than the norm. Unusual for me. Telling you sincerely how my first few hours of training went walking the circle, looking thru the tigers mouth, had with effort made my hands seem more filled with a rush of blood flow thru the veins. I wish I had my cell phone with me to capture how my hands and lower arms looked after an hour and a half of performing the exercises Sifu Kraselsky gave me to perform.

Well grounded in my dachi I began once again with my palm strikes, I decided to shift my weight forward as I struck the tree surface on the other side. If I had not seen it with my own eyes and felt the surge of power myself I would not have believe how effective and profound striking ability could be cultivated by this method of breathing and techniques of Baguazhang had given me. WOW! I really wished I had recorded this with my iPhone. My daughter the little photographer was in school. Continuing my strikes until the bark started loosening and chipping away (you really had to see this) once warmed up then I started to really go at it with shuto, empi and tsuke uchi. I never had this profound impact ability like I had now. I mean I train regularly in Makiwara, which I love but this was different! I can feel the difference in the strikes and the power generated from Baguazhang training. This is to say the least an awesome addition to my Makiwara training. The result was not immediate for me but I can say it was in my belief as effective as all the others have experienced. Someone I knew was behind me, all he can say was "son of a b----- how you do that? do what? I asked. "Hit that tree like that". I told him that I was training in Baguazhang and was testing my hitting ability on a new plane. "Damn man, hope you never get angry at me he stated ", before wishing me a good and blessed evening walking away shaking his head. Thereafter, I hung one of my Rosewood Makiwaras from a rope to a tree branch? I struck it head on and that son of a gun swung back like I never seen before. No way, NO WAY! Hitting it again the same result only this time I was not wondering I was pleased. Rain clouds forming, I packed my gear and started home. Walking to my car I saw a light post another favorite of mine to train on, I struck it and the sound that came from that post surprised even me. What the heck is this.........?

Thinking about what just occurred while driving home, I wondered why haven't I trained with Baguazhang before. I really have to thank my Grandmaster and dear friend Sha Poe Ryu Elam for introducing Baguazhang and now our Sifu, Steve Kraselsky to me. This is incredible, am glancing at my hands on the steering wheel. With a deep breath and taking all of this in I decided that Baguazhang will be a regular discipline of mine. There is something that I have not done in a number of years and because of this new experience I wish to try again and that is breaking. Going to train for a few more weeks in Baguazhang to cultivate this energy and will break 3 two inch thick stones, no spacers. My personal goal. Now I have taken upon myself a new journey as one of innocence, a beginner, a White Sash.

Recently due to working with Sifu Steve Kraselsky and presenting his unique gift of healing to various doctors, professors and many institutes that focus on various ailments, we have ran into some illusive circumstances. Further, after contacting several well known practitioners and chi / qigong related centers here in the U.S. aswell as physically stopping by several in the Atlanta, Ga. area and presenting both evidence and a hand of friendship, these individuals and organizations once aware of Sifu Steve's gift put forth vague promises to bothcontact and work with to provide a great service to their clients. However, they never call or return phone calls and have eluted and basically hidden from the true aspect that their clientele could benefit and may no longer needtheir services after one simple visit with Sifu Steve. When looking at this aspect of clientelewhy a chi / qigong centers would elude such a great opportunity to truly help theirclients from suffering from various pains and even ailments, the basic conclusion is nothing new “but” is prof that the true attributes which these ancient systems were founded on have took on the same concept as many doctors and pharmaceutical companies. The simple fact is as we all know “THERE IS NO MONEY IN THE CURE ONLY IN THE TREATMENT” and this concept is the primary reason thatmedical and medical insurance rates have and are sky rocketing. The basic factabout Sifu Steve's fantastic gift is that it helps and removes pain from people whosuffer, his gift dose not grow bones back together nor dose it cure disease “but”due to his program and teaching he has had success in reversing Parkinson andeven helping Stroke Victims to regain their mobility and Multiple Sclerosis patients with pain. So why are these individuals eluding helping the public and their clients ? Simple, the true answer is “MONEY” ! After investigating answerand consulting with many individuals who suffer with daily pain resulting fromvarious car accidents, ailments and even horrific gun shot victims, we askedthem if they were taking doctor subscribed medication for their pain and they have replied that they have been taking medication and in some case several types of medication and it still was “not” relieving their pain. Further, we asked how much their medication cost and how long they had been taking it ? In some cases themedication used was based on time of healing for things such as fractures and so forth and could only be estimated based on proper healing time resulting in as little as a few hundred dollars. However, more sever horrificcases far out weighed that amount due to the extended or in some cases the life long term of medication that wassubscribed to the individual, resulting in amounts ranging from a few hundred dollars per month to several hundred dollars per month applied or several months or the life span of the given individual. The simple and true fact is that when subscription medication for individual pain did “not work”, Sifu Steve was able to give these individuals what medical science could “not deliver” and that was for the individual to have “REAL PAIN RELIEF”. Some individuals who have undergone sever trauma or sever nerve damage will need to continue various treatment under their doctors care, however they do “not” have to live their lives in pain ! Currently Sifu Steve has used his unique gift to set almost 500 people free of suffering from pain and much more.

Page 32: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

The American Public has been under the assumption for years that “if” the doctor subscribes it they are bond to take it and today there are pain clinics everywhere ! The fact is a pharmaceutical company is not in business to heal and looks at the American public as a consumer based market. Because of that many American's have become dependent on pharmaceutical drugs to the point of becoming classified as addicts. Not only is the public focused on as a viable market for pharmaceutical products “but” has become physiologically programed to the point that “if” a doctor doesn't give them a pill they can't get relief or better from what ails them. Further, if they see they are running low on various types of medication that is primarily focused on pain relief, they will do various things to ensure they get their medicine, even to the point of borrowing or taking similar medicine from both friends and family.

When considering this aspect of how these prescription drugs have effected even the elderly in this country when faced with pain relief ! Isn't this the same as how we relate to drug addicts ! Most every doctor subscribed medication that effects or relieves various types of pain comes with a warning that prohibits the opp-oration of motor vehicles as well as any re-distribution. Further there are laws that make this a Federal Offense, therefore looking at doctor subscribed medication and those who barrow or give to others are by law trafficking in a controlled substance and face jail and/or fines and are considered by society as drug dealers ! Therefore when looking at where these deals go down we don't just find it on street corners and back alleys “but” in grocery stores, offices, homes across the country, churches, restaurants and many other places. Also when we look at identifying these individuals we see Grand Fathers, Grand Mothers, Moms, Dads, Sisters, Brothers, various family members as well as individuals from all walks of life. So why does this happen ! Primarily because friends don't want to see family or friends in pain when they have either a blue pill or a red pill to help them with their suffering ! Furthermore, many of the over the counter medicines also have various warnings concerning the opp-oration of motor vehicles and distribution. The simple fact is “if” anyone takes an over the counter medication and drives or shares it with any other individual according to the label and warning, can legally be arrested. Therefore this aspect of of labeling is considered as consumer safety “but” when we consider the pharmaceutical industry as a business and the fact that all businesses are based off of either service or product sells, we can plainly see how labeling products with both warnings and penalties that can be enforced by utilizing law becomes a sure method to increase sales volume for these businesses as well as the over all industry. Also when considering the over all aspect of many subscription medicines and over the counter products, we need to look at some of these products side effects ! The best way to get the facts about a given products side effects is to read the label or simply listen to a TV advertisement concerning some of these products. The risk of taking some products when taking other products or subscription medicine can kill you or leave you in such a state that your life can be dramatically effected for the remainder of your life time. Most pain medicines are highly addictive making the marketing concept highlyprofitable. Thereby it is also a per-determinable market that is “not” just based upon accidentsor ailment related revenue “but” rather it isbased on residual marketing due to the simplefact that with age comes various pains andaches and the medical industry knows this and therefore they develop either a blue or redpill for what may ail you ! Medical science is a great thing and has made wonderful progressover the years “but” it has also made manymillionaires and billion dollar organizations thatare focused “not” simply on science or helpingtheir fellow man “but” rather profits and share holders within their organizations.

Page 33: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Therefore the next time you have a simple ache or pain and your doctor writes you a subscription for it, consider a few basic things such as, are you truly in so much pain you have to have the blue or red pill ? Also why is it so easy to simply complain and get something for it ? Along with the aspect of addictive properties and side effects. The fact is that doctors don't only make their money from office visits or treatments “but” also from basically selling you the subscription. Therefore when we understand that a doctor is in business to make money, we can understand that they market both services and products like many other businesses do as well.

When we stop and take notice of basically any common pharmacy, we see that the number one product on the shelves in most of these business is pain related products and most impulse items are also pain related. The fact is the public and/or people do not deal with any types of pain vary well, because no body want's to go around in pain. Therefore the concept of pain related products is vast and is primarily based off of human nature concerning the aspect of pain and the physiological concept of getting relief from taking the blue or red pill. Everything from head aches, migraines, back aches, stomach aches, sore feet, sore throat and the list goes on and on.

Fact is when it comes to pharmacy's and subscription medicine, everyone has their favorite one to go to, especially the ones that are open late because they know they can get it filled. So how physiologically programed is the public concerning the authority of a given doctor or their perception of pharmaceutical drugs ? Think about, even thou you may not take vary much of any over the counter medication or your not on any subscription medication, you will still be able to know what pharmacy is open ! This simple test shows the true power of the pharmaceutical industries advertising and the physiological mind set they have instilled within the public.

Now that you are understanding that even you have been subjected to this concept, how will you brake away from an ever growing dependency on the pharmaceutical industry ! Furthermore, one of the biggest deceptions is based in the concept of “time released capsules”, you can ask just about anyone in the protapoty business what is one of the most common things found when emptying and cleaning one of these and they will tell you, capsules or vitamins. The primary reason is that the capsule usually dose not have time to dissolve before the individual goes to the restroom. It also brings us to another question concerning products ! And that is, if a product that is advertised to be 100% safe is actually due to a type of “Placebo Effect” due to the given product being design “NOT” to dissolve as expected ! This could explain why so many capsules are found in this manner ! A few years ago the company that manufacture a product by the name of “ICY HOT” had a huge recall of the patches that stick to your skin in order to bring muscle relief to a given area, its advertising focus was on the concept of sore backs. The reason the company had the huge recall was due to adding to much of a given chemical in the production process of the patch. This mistake caused many people to receive 2nd and 3rd degree chemical burns to their skin, however the big picture is not the patch “but” rather the people and the physiological concept that drove them to the product which was a quick fix to pain.

Page 34: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Just because an individual wears a white coat dose not mean theyknow everything ! That is why for various reasons many people seeka second opinion concerning many medical issues and diagnosis's. This concept also needs to be applied concerning subscription medicine, primarily because of miss diagnosis and lethal side effects that can occur in patients due to simple things like allergic reactions which can result indeath or compounded medical issues. Most medical practitioners whohave been in the business of providing health care for several years arealso capable of mistakes based upon human error and if something causesyou to have a red flag moment, you need to understand, you are still the boss over what you accept or don't accept ! Some doctors have a bit ofa tendency to sometimes be a bit over powering or demanding, if at anytime you feel a care giver is forcing you to do something you rathernot do “Don't Do It”, immediately seek a second opinion. Most doctorsalways go over all the details of a given procedure or explains any change in medication as well as any new medication and is always readyand able to answer their patients questions or address their concerns.

The medical industry is full of highly educated individuals that are a major part of our society and every day lives, however the industry has caused some practices to lean more towards having a lucrative practice, rather than true quality care. Seeking out these practitioners that can meet your lucrativeexpectations for rendering you the quality care you deserve is not an easy task. Further, due to the recent laws past concerning medical care, millions of Americans have a vary limited choice of who and where they can receive the medical care they would like for themselves and their families. Also the cost of medical insurance in some cases is far beyond the reach or financial capabilities of many American families and those with pre existing conditions. The complexities that surround the current administrations medical program has left many Americans with real medical hardships as well as raising cost or cuts in their current policies. Regardless of this the fact remains that the cost of medical care has raised, medical insurance has raised and reduced coverage in various areas as well as pre existing conditions, subscription drugs are raising along with side effects and the most alarming is the raise in pharmaceutical dependency. The dependency on pain medicine has “not only” raised “but” has had a dramatic effect on crime ! When we stop to look at this aspect alone we see many elderly individuals who have been assaulted for various types of subscription medicine and one of the primary drugs of choice is pain related subscriptions because of its potency or strength. When looking at the over all effect of these substances, we can see various other related raises in many other areas of our society that has a direct effect on our over all economy, including taxes and the cycling of revenue. Pain clinics in medicine various states have had to stiffen their policies concerning out of state patient subscriptions primarily because individuals were taking advantage of the system and legally trafficking large amounts of drugs across state lines and selling the subscription drugs they had obtained with a doctors signature making catching these individuals a legal nightmare because they had legally obtained the drugs and trafficked them across state line legally. This loophole in the system costed tax payers millions of legal dollars for prosecuting the individuals and having to once again revamp the system to close the loophole.

Page 35: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

These issues along with many others is but a few reasons that ATTU is working diligently with Sifu Steve Kraselsky, in a true effort to introduce the ancient art of Qigong and his unique gift to the medical industry. Currently we have been in contact with leading Professors, Neurologist, Scientist, Renowned Doctors, Foundations and several other Medical Organizations that focus on various treatments. Also due to being a martial artist for the past 40-years and teaching for 30-years and being a Sifu in Baguazhang, Wing Chun and Qigong and having a vast and in depth knowledge of the systems, we have approached various Chi Centers and practitioners of related arts that deal with pain only to be eluted when faced with the concept and principles that ATTU and Sifu Steve Kraselsky have been based in, which follow the true attributes of the martial arts. The simple fact is “WE DO NOT CHARGE FOR HEALING PAIN”, we feel, this is the primary reason that we have been eluted by these individuals and groups, due to the fact that these individuals can not make any money off of Sifu Steve's great and unique gift. It is our intention to work with the medical industry to reduce the

dependency on subscription pain medication by implementing a cost effective program that will have a direct impact on subscription medicine, insurance, various health issues and conditions along with the numerous side effects that are caused by subscription drugs as well as effecting other areas in our society as a result of implementing true Qigong into Western Medicine. Further, we are working with a great lady in the Atlanta area who is working to establish her church there, this will enable us to implement out reach programs to help those who are suffering with various pain and to help fight against subscription drug dependency relating to pain “FREE OF CHARGE” and for those who are in need of our program for an extended duration due to a given issue or ailment can sign up for our program which consist of true Qigong Exercises that will help to ensure progress and health along with advanced studies. This part of our program concerning extended service consisting of training and true Qigong education is not a free program and is restricted to a certain number of students per class that meet the guidelines of the program. For those who need healing from various pain, Sifu Steve will be available “FREE OF CHARGE” at the location, times and dates that ATTU will post as soon as our great lady has secured the location which should be by the middle of October. We ask for all America to join us in this great endeavor to “not only” heal individualsof suffering with pain “but” decrease the dependency onsubscription drugs all over the U.S. As many of you knowthere are pain centers running over with people from allwalks of life, whose medication is costing them more thantheir money, it is costing them their health, families andfriends due to the effect of these drugs. Let us worktogether to make these over run offices and waiting roomslook like the one in this photo !

Chi in the Martial Arts The Great Rift

By Barbara Finney

An unseen energy known by many names in many cultures throughout history is called Chi, Chee, Qi, Prana, Vril, Orgone and many other names. It has been linked to many forms of martial arts, especially martial arts systems outside of the Western world in general and the United States in particular. Why this is so is a puzzle as knowledge of such practices as Qigong and Reiki(a related healing practice) have been well known in the US for many years. Information about Qigong began appearing in magazine in the late 1980’s and early 90’s.

At one time healing arts and fighting arts were always taught together as a good martial arts master always had to know how to treat and heal injuries that would occur in training in the great dojos of long ago times. Healing methods such as acupressure, acupuncture, and so on developed alongside many forms of qigong. Qigong was developed as a form of healing that could be projected into a patient by a qigong master of those who practiced it and knew the old ways could use the methods to heal themselves.

The ancient Chinese character symbol for Qi or Chi was written in ideographic form like this:

Page 37: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

This was the oldest known representation of Chi which literally symbolized “mist that rises from the earth to form the clouds.”

Ancient Chinese believed that Qi was the bridge between matter and spirit.

Some have written that the origin of the name for China and Chinese people may have at one time meant “people of the chi.”

In Japan among ancient Samurai healing arts and mediation were a major part of the tradition. Among Chinese warrior clans, the word Seifukujitsu was a word for martial arts healing arts that meant, from the Chinese characters for this word, several things. It meant “whole and complete” and “to recover what was lost” and “skilled art or method.” The Japanese translation for this word is “ a skilful method of adjusting and restoring.”

Methods of Seifukujitsu are also sometimes translated as “ break down the old and build up the new.”

Then in modern times, especially in the western civilization such as America, a rift developed in the martial arts. It has become all about the fighting techniques of grabs and submissions, and punches and kicks and throws. There are not many schools at all that also teach what could be called “black belt healing.” At one time in the world Seifukujitsu was considered a very developed art. Only the most advanced martial arts practiced it. Not even a few decades ago, one could still get the best care for sports injuries from individuals like Judo teachers.

There are still a handful of Seifukujitsu schools in Japan but not many. Less than 20 I have read somewhere. This is a shame. TCM or Chinese traditional medicine, which includes training in medical qigong has had official impressive results on many disease and conditions that are considered hopeless by western medicine.

In fact, the word “Ki” is embedded in the art known as “Aikido.” Many martial arts schools in the west do sometimes give lip service to things like qigong, but most write it off as an outgrowth of mere working out. But qi is more. Qigong practice seems to generate benefits not seen in jogging, or weight-lifting and so fort. It is a counter intuitive phenomenon where 1+ 1 = 3.

There are thousands of forms of qigong. There are 3 main types though. Those three are medical, martial, and spiritual. Perhaps the wide variety of forms and styles and the overall secretiveness of the masters and keepers of much of this ancient knowledge is in part what led to the lack of understanding and use in western civilization of qi related practices in the martial arts and in medicine.

Perhaps as qigong and related practices such as Tai Chi become more widespread and as neuroscience research begins to reveal the biological secrets of how and why qigong works, the rift between the martial arts and its dark twin qigong practices will be bridged, just as the ancients felt that qi was the bridge between spirit and matter.

Ricky MuseSha Soo Doo Jitsu RyuAmerican Temple Training Union

Good day to you all that are reading this article. My name is Ricky A. Muse. I'm a student under Sha Poe Ryu Elam, founder of the greatest style of fighting known to me, Sha Soo Doo Jitsu Ryu. There are many different styles of martial arts in this world to chose from to learn and study but I found that most are lacking a foundation on which they stand. They may teach you a form but very little else. Then there is Sha Soo Doo Jitsu Ryu where you not only learn about all forms of combat, be it hand to hand or with weapons, but you also learn how to make each form of combat your own, meaning you make it fit your needs and the way you move your own body. Its how you breath, its how you move, its how you think, its as simple as how you step and the way that you do it. We learn far more then just how to do a form, but we learn what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and most of all why you do it. I'll tell you what I believe sets us far above and apart from all other forms of combat out there is we learn that its not us that does it but you that do it to your self. We learn the understanding of combat and all its forms. Through the study of our H.A.V.E matrix and the 7 systems of the human anatomy, all the different ways of breathing and the ways of thinking why you think, the ways that you do, and teaches you to control the outcome of anything that has been set before you, because when you understand your able to do anything. I have now earned my gold sash under Sha Poe Ryu Elam and closing in on my blue sash soon. So far I have learned about his H.A.V.E matrix ( herbs, audio, visual, essences ) the seven systems of the human anatomy consisting of the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, nerves, circulatory, digestive and heart of our seven systems. sha tay ryu, snake hand walk, sha ping ryu, moving on to sha hon ryu. Bow / staff fighting and kata, short stick, our twisting cup, sticky hands, breathing, tai chi and most of all Keneticet, chi, and jen energy. There are far more but why tell you everything when its better to come and find out for yourselves. Through training and understanding I have been able to break bricks, and break through boards both soft and hard wood, which I have greatly enjoyed doing both because it only confirms everything I have been learning concerning how to pull everything together to do the task set before me. Sha Poe Ryu Elam asked me a question not to long ago and I was unable to answer him at that time, but now I feel that I finally have an answer. Sha Poe Ryu Elam asked me what Sha Soo Doo Jitsu Ryu meant to me and now I finally understand everything that we have talked about I see that Sha Soo Doo Jitsu Ryu is thepath to truth, knowing, understanding and if your willing the path to spiritual enlightenment. At least that's what it means to me. Through Sha Poe Ryu Elam' teaching I have been able to set a goal for myself of earning the patches of the masters of ATTU. My first one is with Soke Nikko Gutierrez, he has set before me the task of breaking 4 pine board's flat together with my hand. To do so I'm training in makiawara, in order to focus and strengthen my striking ability along with the art of breathing threw Baguazhang Kung Fu under Sifu Steve Kraselsky and before long I shall earn my first of many patches of ATTU's masters from all around the world.

Joe Lewis (March 7, 1944 – August 31, 2012) was an American kick boxer point karate fighter, and actor. As a fighter, Lewis gained fame for his matches in the 1960s and 1970s.

He has twice been voted the greatest fighter in karate history, and has attained the titles of “United States Heavyweight Kickboxing Champion,” “World Heavyweight Karate Champion,” and “United States National Black Belt Kata Champion.” As head of the Joe Lewis Fighting Systems, Joe Lewis has surrounded himself with a growing organization dedicated to the core principles he has used for decades to forge a career second to known as a black belt, fighter, coach, instructor, leader of men, and always, always a student. Joe Lewis was born on March 7, 1944 in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was raised on a farm in Wilmington, NC as the youngest of three Lewis brothers. Though Joe was quiet and perceptive his older brothers were rebel rouses.

While he was not a troublesome son or student, his brothers’ reputation for trouble branded him as the same. So, rather than follow in his brother’s footsteps, he lied about his age and joined the United States Marine Corps in 1962 and was stationed at Cherry Point in Havelock, North Carolina. He was one of the first Marines stationed in Vietnam, there meeting Rocky Marciano. Always fascinated by strength and body building, a karate class captured his attention while in Okinawa. There he studied Shorin-ryu Karate with Eizo Shimabukuro, John Korab, Chinsaku Kinjo and Seiyu Oyata in Okinawa. He quickly earned a reputation as a gifted athlete and became obsessed with training. If he had to work late, he would sneak into a storage closet to get his workouts in while his platoon mates slept. He earned his first black belt in a black belt in just three months time and a second in seven. He worked out between 3 and 5 hours per day. In 1966, with only 22-months of training, Lewis won the grand championship of the 1st tournament he entered, The U.S. Nationals promoted by Jhoon Rhee. Lewis defeated 7 opponents before defeating Thomas Carroll by 2-0 decision. Lewis reigned as the U.S. Nationals grand champion from 1966-1969. At the 1967 Nationals in Washington, Lewis won the championship just 18-months after his first class. Joe Lewis was the first “non-master and only competitor” to ever be photographed cover of Black Belt magazine. Previous covers had been drawn or painted. In February, 1968, Lewis and five other top rated fighters (Bob Wall, Skipper Mullins, J. Pat Burleson, David Moon, and Fred Wren) fought in the 1st World Professional Karate Championships (WPKC) promoted by Jim Harrison. This was the first “professional” tournament in karate history and took place in Harrison’s dojo in Kansas City. The rules allowed “heavy contact.” Lewis won the tournament and was paid $1-dollar, thus officially making him the first professional champion in karate history.

Page 41: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Hollywood started to take note of the Lewis and he began some work helping Bruce Lee on fight choreography in the late 1960s. Lewis continued with his acting career and starred in Jaguar Lives in 1978 and Force Five in 1981 and has guest starred in films as late as 2011. He was also a featured guest star on “The Fall Guy” playing himself in the episode, “The Japanese Connection.” From 1967 to 1968, he studied privately with the influential martial artist and Jeet Kune Do founder Bruce Lee. Lee was turned down by Lewis as an instructor for about 8-months when Mike Stone finally convinced Lewis that Lee was a talented instructor. Lewis also turned down the roll of Colt in true Bruce Lee film, Way of the Dragon. The part then went to Chuck Norris. Lee had Lewis test out his theories of fighting at tournaments. Lewis also began training boxing with Sugar Ray Robinson and Joe Orbillio, enhancing his skills. In late 1969 promoter Lee Faulkner contacted Joe Lewis to fight in his upcoming United States Karate Championships.

Lewis had retired from point fighting at the time but agreed to fight if Faulkner would promote a full-contact karate bout with Lewis and an opponent who would fight to the knockout. Faulkner agreed. As Lewis and Greg Baines entered the ring wearing boxing gloves the announcer identified the fighters as “kick boxers”. That night Joe Lewis won the first-ever kickboxing bout in North America on January 17, 1970 with a second round knockout over Greg Baines. n January 24, 1971, at the 2nd Annual United Nations Open Karate Championships promoted by Aaron Banks, Lewis knocked out Ronnie Barkoot at 1:25 of the first round. At another Banks promotion; United States Championship Kickboxing Bouts, Lewis scored a 3rd round knockout over “Atlas” Jesse King. In total, Lewis defended his United States Heavyweight Kickboxing title with 8 straight knockouts (10 since two were double knockouts in same fight etc) between 1970/71. Lewis is the first kick boxer to be featured in both The Ring boxing magazine and Sports Illustrated. Lewis retired as undefeated United States Heavyweight Kickboxing champion in 1971.

Page 42: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

His record as the undisputed United States heavyweight kickboxing champion was a perfect 10-0 with 10 KO’s. September 14, 1974 on ABC’s Wide World of Entertainment promoter Mike Anderson introduced PKA ‘Full-Contact’ Karate. In the bouts, competitors wore foam hand and foot protection and fought to the knockout (Kickboxing rules allowed for leg kicks: full-contact karate rules did not permit kicks to the legs). Lewis, the retired US Heavyweight Kickboxing champion was accustomed to full contact fighting. In 1974 he beat his only opponent with a 2nd round ridge hand knockout over Yugoslavia’s Frank Brodar in Los Angeles, California to win the Professional Karate Association (PKA) Heavyweight full-contact karate title. The original 1974 PKA world champions, including Joe Lewis (heavyweight), Jeff Smith (light heavyweight) and Bill ‘Superfoot’ Wallace (middleweight) received so much fanfare from the PKA title wins and resultant publicity in popular martial arts magazines that their status as “legends of the karate world” was guaranteed. Lewis advanced his public persona the next year by appearing on the cover of Playgirl magazine with then wife actress Barbara Leigh. In 1975

Joe Lewis was inducted into the Black Belt magazine Hall of Fame as the 1974 full contact karate “Fighter of the Year.” In 1984, Lewis moved to Madeira Beach, FL where he began to train and mentor John and Jim Graden and later with Mark Graden. According to Lewis, no other family has had three world kickboxing champions. In a 1992 Black Belt cover story, “Passing the Torch” Lewis named John and Jim Graden as his torch bearers.

Bruce Lee's First Student

This is in memory of my Gung Fu teacher the late great Mr. Jesse Glover. Sifu Glover was Bruce lee's very first student in the martial arts as well as Bruce Lee's first assistant instructor. Sifu Glover was also friends with my father and they became very close throughout the years. Sifu Glover taught me the living art of Non Classical Gung Fu based on Bruce Lee's Lee Jun Fun Gung Fu system. He was a very good teacher and a great mentor to me over the years. I learned so much from Sifu Glover and I'm sadden by he's passing. The world has lost a great man but it's his legacy that he has left behind that will live on forever. I will always remember the lesson not only in the martial arts but in life that I've learned from him. I will do my very best to continue to teach the Non Classical Gung Fu as taught to me by Sifu Glover. I know now that Sifu Glover is up in heaven practicing martial arts with his teacher the late great Bruce Lee. Knowing that helps me to deal with the loss I'm sure we all feel here on earth.

Page 44: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Sifu Glover spent much of his life in the pursuit of unyielding refinement and self-improvement. As a young man he developed a keen interest in martial arts which eventually led him to study Judo. It was through the practice of Judo Sifu Glover developed a work ethic that would become the foundation of his teaching philosophy; the idea of mass repetition. In an event that would forever change his life, Sifu Glover glimpsed a young Bruce Lee demonstrating Gung Fu on stage in Seattle. As fate would have it, Bruce Lee was attending Edison Technical School where Sifu Glover also attended. Eventually Sifu Glover introduced himself to Bruce Lee and asked to become his student. They quickly became good friends and avid workout partners. Sifu Glover trained with Bruce Lee for nearly four years: 1959-1962. The majority of their training was in an informal, one- on-one setting. The countless hours Sifu Glover spent with Bruce Lee offered a unique perspective on the core principles and training methodology Bruce Lee used to develop his foundation as a martial artist. Sifu Glover eventually took these core ideas and modified them to create his own method, Non-Classical Gung Fu (NCGF); a process that he never stopped developing. Those like myself and others who were fortunate enough to know and work with Sifu Glover each developed our own “way.” Just as each student internalized what was taught differently, each student conceptualized different ideas and training processes at different levels. This is what Sifu Glover intended in our opinion: to give each person a base to work with, one that would allow a person to progress at their own pace; based on skill level, motivation, and/or physical abilities. How far each student wanted to go was up to them. What resulted was an incredibly diverse and seemingly endless physical exploration in martial arts.

Thank you Sifu Glover for your life of dedication for which we are all better because of your teachings. You will be missed greatly.

Your Student.

In today's society it is becoming more and more evident that our personal and home safety is under a growing and escalating attack. Pepper spray and keys are widely used by many individuals for their personal safety. However, unless you know how to use these for self defense, they can serve as a false sense of security. They become like a gun locked away from children, just because you have one means nothing if you can't get to it when you need it. Sung Jitsu Ryu can make the difference between becoming a victim or a survivor !

When it came to the acquisition of knowledge, Kemet was the center of most, if not all, ancient learning. Shrouded in mystery for centuries, the most ancient arts in the world are finally surfacing.

The knowledge of knowledge, and its acquisition, should not be a mystery to the African, because historical evidence indicates that it was his/her ancestors, the ancient people of Kemet (KMT), "the black land", who built and operated the first major libraries and institutions of higher education in the world.

As a result, students, people cultures from around the world came to study and appreciate the secrets and mysteries of Kemet, at the temple-university (the home of the Mystery System) was conducted by an elite faculty who taught: architecture, carpentry, cosmography, plant science, pharmacology, physiology, anatomy, embalming, law, astrology, literature, magic, theology, mining, metallurgy, land surveying, engineering, geography, forestry, agriculture, and animal science (in addition to the above) in the departments of: (1) the Mystery Teachers of Heaven (astronomy, astrology...); (2) the Mystery Teachers of All Lands (geography...); (3) the Mystery Teachers of the Depths (geology, cosmography); (4) the Mystery Teachers of the Secret World (philosophy, theology); and (5) the School (mystery) of Pharaoh and Mystery Teachers (language, law, communication) (Myer, 1900 via Hilliard, 1984, 157).

The ancient martial arts of Egypt (Kemet), Nubia, Wagadu-Nok (West Africa) and Ethiopia, Somalia were the first organized and scientific martial arts developed. These arts were brought to India by migrations of Africans of Cush origins to India, when some of the Black Cushite people moved to India in another wave of migrations (most ancient modern Africans in India is about 60,000 BC) about 6000 BC till the Middle Ages. Cushites later founded Buddhism and had great civilization in the India/Pakistan region Indus Valley. Throughout history, Africa has been venerated for their martial prowess. According to scientific timeliness - the first widely recognized .Furthermore, these Black Kemetic (Egyptians) had developed an understood the vital energy of the soul called chi in Chinese, ki in Japanese and ka in the netjer writing of ancient Kemet. Though many have been teaching this information about Nubia for centuries – it has finally been acknowledged by the National Geographic February 2008 Edition!

African cultures were established in 10,000 BCE! Imagine that as an equation... Historical antiquity is very much an interactive kaleidoscope of stories, traditions and facts. Physical travel was the only source of communication between cultures and visiting from one country to the next meant people stayed sometimes for years…. Prime example: Marco Polo! And if he hadn’t brought those Chinese Martial Arts Performers back to Europe with him then Louis the XVI would never have seen this art and then there never would have been ballet. During these times any number of events (plague, small battles, marriage, birth, and death) could change the leadership thus the entire scope of the mission. So those countries that were the closest in geography were also the closest in culture. Specifically I am referring to Coastal areas of Africa in relation to Greece and Italy in ancient times. Then came Spain and Portugal and the diasporas began through the slave trade.

THE TRUTH UNFOLDS ON AFRICAN FIGHTING ARTS Part 1, by; Roger Evelyn

Page 51: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Now lets’ “Bite” into the meat of the story with Alexander of Macedonia/Greece (356-323 BCE) and his dear buddy Aristotle (384-324 BCE). This dynamic duo traveled to Alexandria, Kemet and spent a great deal of time collecting information on EVERYTHING...:. Math, Science, Medicine, History, and of course… Military hand to hand. They translated into Greek the military strategies from the Nubian fighting systems that were archived in the Library of Alexandria. Remember these scientific facts…. The first civilizations were established in Africa (Kemet, Nubia, Kush and Ethiopia) complete with physical sciences, mathematics, history, medicine, art, dance, x-ray machines, calendars, electricity, irrigation systems, astronomy, surgery, universities, anatomy and martial sciences. These civilizations were the first interactive with the Middle Eastern empires - Persia & Babylon - especially in war.

Traced back to the ancient Kushite (Ethiopian) martial art of Pan Kau Ra Shen (fighting with the power of Ra, the Egyptian God) this is where Pankration comes from. To utilize your body fully as a weapon, take advantage of your bodily attributes and full range of (combative) motion. Also, to use whatever works, be it orthodox or unorthodox. The earliest representation of any kind of belt associated with the martial arts are found in Kemet (Egypt) along the banks of the nile in tombs belonging to Prince Khety, and Prince Baquet III of the 11th and 12th dynasties (circa 2,800 B.C.). He tying of the belt at the third chakra was a symbolic act meant to remind the student that training was for the purpose of developing the kundalini, or spiritual life force, from its lower to its highest point along the spine. In ancient Kemet, belts had nothing to do with rank and achievement in the outward sense.

Even in the White Garment Hall of the Shaolin Monastery in Honan ( Hunan) Province of China, there are tow 12 foot long paintings of Chinese and Africoid ( Black) Shaolin Monks training in Kung Fu (Boxing) skills together. Although not promoted (and somewhat hidden ) it shows striking evidence of the deep interrelation of Africa, the martial arts, and Asia. Until present day, one can find in the Chinese Civilization (4000 BCE) the lion dance as part of their culture for millenniums... But lions do not originate in China... So where was the connection? A small trivia note: Mali (a country in Afrika) has the largest Tibetan population outside of the country of Tibet. Now the war arts of the Japanese civilization (700 CE) are better known since they had the most diplomatic contact with the Western societies. Yet there is a Japanese proverb in a Japanese temple that says: "In order to be a Samurai - one must have a bit of Black Blood". To justify this statement all one need to do is research some of the tapestries that hold the image of “Tieguai - The Iron Staff Immortal”, one of the venerated 9 of Taoism.

Amongst the earliest inhabitants of the Japanese continent are a people called the Ainu. They have oral traditions which retell of a race of people of a dark complexion that are small of stature that resided in Japan before they did. Looking deeper, some historians believe the Ainu originated in Kemet, while others have found evidence of them traveling to Kemet and making offerings of gifts to Kemetic Pharoahs. Even records in Mesopotamia and Kemet record interacting with a people they called the Anu ( Ainu ? ). Also, there are a number of Japanese peoples, who given skin complexion and hair, resemble and have the same features of the Bushmen of Southern Africa. There is ancient knowledge too, of Japan being conquered from it’s southern regions by a group of Black Warriors. This all leads us to the fact of the first Shogun of Japan himself was indeed a Black man. His name was Sakanouye Tamura Maro and he lived around 800 C.E (Common Era).

Page 52: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

The first people of the earth, gave birth to (and significantly influenced) the world's oldest and most magnificent civilizations. The African that first entered Asia, Europe, Australia, the islands of the South Pacific and the early Americas, was not slave, but as master, in control of his and her own destiny.

The Iron Horse, The Mighty Root of Martial Artsby Sifu Richard Mieir-KingThe essence and foundation of all techniques, from beginning to advanced, are built upon our basic, foundational techniques and elements. These basics strengthen and build legs, waist and will power, along with many other important aspects of our martial arts capabilities. We call the horse our "foundation" because it is the base, the platform and foundation upon which we build everything else. The analogy I was taught was that of constructing a building. When a building is being constructed a great deal of time, effort and care is spent on the foundation before the walls or roof are ever put in place. This is because the builders know that the walls and roof are only as strong as the foundation upon which they are built. If the foundation is not solid and strong then everything built on top of that weak foundation will, likewise, be weak. The horse stance is also the forge, the crucible, which helps build our determination, perseverance and discipline of body and mind. There is more to horse stance work than can be covered in one article, so we will look at what we can in this article and, perhaps, follow it with more articles on horse stance work in the future.

All Horse Stances are not the SameStepping into a correct horse stance is the first thing to be addressed. Not all bodies are the same. Some people have longer legs, some shorter legs, builds vary from person to person. So, trying to have everyone sit into a horse stance in the same exact way is like trying to drive a square peg into a round hole. There is, however, an old method for resolving this dilemma and finding the horse stance that is correct for each individual. This method consists of only 5 counts which we will illustrate and describe in the following photos along with a few more drills and exercises. As you will see in figure 1, we begin standing at attention. Feet are together and hands at the sides. On count one, in figure 2, shift the weight slightly onto the heels and turn the toes out 45 degrees, put the hands on the hips or chamber the fists at the waist. On count two, in figure 3, shift the weight onto the toes/ball of the feet and turn the heels out 45 degrees. On count three, in figure 4, shift the weight slightly onto the heels again and pivot the toes out 45 degrees. On count four, in figure 5, shift the weight to the toes/balls of the feet and straighten the feet so that the toes are pointed forward. Now, on count 5, figure 6, we bend the knees 2 inches sitting into the horse. Only sink into your horse 2 inches and do not let the knees stick out past the toes. This keeps stress off of your knee joints.

Page 55: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Measuring upWe also want to make sure that our structure and alignment are correct. Once you have settled into the horse, tilt your pelvis forward taking some of the arch out of your low back. There are 2 tools that can be used here. Place one hand is placed on the stomach area. The other hand is on the low back, juxtapose to the hand on the front side of your body. The hand on the front side of the body is on the Dan Tien which is 2 inches below the navel. The hand on the back of the body is on the Ming Min. As you tilt/thrust the pelvis forward exert just a small amount of pressure with each hand. Pulling the Dan Tien in and just slightly pushing the Ming Min out. All of this helps to take excess arch out of the low back and puts the spine in a neutral position. Also, imagine the tail bone being pulled down to a spot between the feet as though a weight is hanging from the tail bone. At the same time imagine the crown of the head, also know as the Bai Hui, lifting up. This creates the sensation of a lengthening of the spine. This also lowers the chin slightly offering some protection to the throat from an attack. See figures 7 and 8 for location of the Dan Tien, Ming Min and also the Iliac Crest which will be referenced later.

Page 56: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

There are also health benefits to these positions. This can help with low back pain and stiffness in the low back area. The “lifting” at the Bai Hui area helps to decompress the spine, can help with headaches and strengthens the back while improving posture and balance.

We will also level the hips. Find your Iliac Crest, the hip bones, shown in figure 7, and imagine a line connecting them. This line is your “carpenters level” with the bubble in the middle, at the Dan Tien. If the bubble is not in the middle then your hips are not level and are out of balance. Your Dan Tien is the bubble, the center. Holding a stick at the hips as illustrated in figure 9 is a good visual for you to check your hips for correct position and balance.

Page 57: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

We can also use a 6 foot staff to check the back. Sit into your horse stance and take your staff and hold the staff up to your spine, straight up and down. This can also be done using a door, a corner of a wall or against a flat section of a wall. The first thing to do is to slip your hand into curve of your low back. Notice is if there is a lot of space in your low back area. If there is a lot of space when you insert your open, flat hand there is too much arch in the low back and this can also be the source of pain as well as throwing off your structure. Begin slowly tilting the pelvis forward taking arch out of the low back until you have just the enough space for the your open hand to comfortably fit in the low back area. With the low back corrected, bring the attention up to the head now. You will note that the head may be “turtled” forward and the back of the head is not touching the staff or wall. Keeping your eyes level, slide the head back until the back of the head makes contact or comes as close and let the head lift from the Bai Hui as previously indicated. The same things will happen as before. The spine lengthens and the chin tucks down. There are many elements here to consider but in time it becomes second nature and not something you have to think about. It strengthens the body and improves the posture and health as well as building a strong root or foundation. Countdown to Strength and Will PowerHaving now found and sat into our horse stance and aligned the spine, hips and pelvis so everything is structurally correct and in a neutral position, we can begin some work. This work will tone your legs and build your endurance and fortitude, or will. Start off by holding this position for 5 minutes. This may not sound like much but you begin to feel it pretty quickly. For those of you who may be very experienced in their horse stance work, and have more strength, you can increase this time in 5 minute increments until you have reached the place you feel challenged. Holding for 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes and longer. In our training, at every test, the length of time you hold your horse stance is increased over time in 5 minutes increments. At brown sash the stance is held for 30 minutes without moving. At black sash the stance is held for 1 hour without moving. It becomes not only a test but, in a way, a right of passage as it is an challenge presented, taken up and overcome. As you practice this, start with just 5 minutes. Test your legs. If it is easy then continue adding in 5 minute increments. We advise moving into the horse stance in these 5 minute increments. See how you tolerate sitting into the horse for these time periods and add on only as you build your strength.

Standing the Sands of Time

Another step to add to your horse training is to have a box filled with sand. The kind of sand you'd find at the beach or a child's play box. This box needs to be the width of a wide horse stance so as to accommodate anyone's horse stance that might use this box and have space left to each side. Smooth out the surface of the sand and then step into the box of sand assuming your horse stance. As you do so do not smudge your footprint in the sand. Sit into our horse and hold this position for as long as you can without smudging your footprints. If you find you have smudged your foot print then smooth out the sand and start over. The goal is to hold the stance as long as you can without smudging, blurring or otherwise messing up your footprint while holding this horse stance. As your strength improves you will be able to hold your stance in the sand without fidgeting and when you step out there will be no smudges in the sand.

Page 58: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Finding Balance with the StaffAnother drill, exercise and challenge for our article today will employ the previously used staff. You will lower your horse until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Note, too, that we have turned the toes out. This “unlocks” the knee joints and reduces possible stress on them. Now, taking our 6 foot staff, lay it across your quadriceps between the knees and your hips. You can chamber your fists at your waist, place the hands on the hips, or hold them out in the manner illustrated in Figure 10, and balance the staff in this position as shown. As you lower your stance, do so as though you are sitting down and don't let your knees extend past your toes. Extending the knees past the toes could put unnecessary stress on the knee joints. Hold this position as long as you can, keeping correct structure and not letting the staff roll out of the position it is in.

Another exercise is demonstrated in the following pictures using my son who weighs approximately 120 pounds. This can be done with a person of any size but be sure your are comfortable doing so and with the weight of the person. This is different from holding a weight while standing in your horse because a person moves, even if it is micro movements. This requires that you be able to compensate for any movements they make so neither of you fall. If you have never done this before do so only with someone that can assist, help and instruct both of you in how this is done. And, again, make sure you are comfortable with the weight of the person. Regardless of how much weight you can lift, do this with a light person first and progress only as you strengthen to the weight of that person. Do not do these exercises if you have any issues such as problems with your knees, back or any other areas of your body. As illustrated in Figure 12 and 13, I have my son standing high on my thighs, nearing my waist. We lock our hands together to stabilize the structure we have created. In the second picture I have shifted my weight and stance to one side. As shown, in this technique, I have my son climb up on and stand on my forward quadriceps. There is a great deal of weight going on to this leg and foot. All of the same precautions above are to be observed here as well as. This position is probably more difficult for most people. These particular positions require BOTH people be strong and knowledgeable in what they are doing. If you have any doubt or do not have someone qualified to guide you do not attempt this. These type of exercises and positions are also used in Lion Dancing.

Page 59: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

To illustrate the strength of the horse stance, in the next illustration, figure 14, I have my son holding what we call a “Walking Horse Stance”. This stance has many names but you can see in the picture the shape of the stance, regardless of the name. See in figure 14 that I have my son in a walking horse stance. His weight is approximately 120 pounds. I am pushing on my son and my weight is 198 pounds. I have pushed out on him committing all of my weight, I am on my toes as can be seen in the picture. I am also flexing my body muscles to exert more weight and pressure against him. As you can see in the illustration, he is able to stand his ground. This concept is simply called “ground path energy”. As I push he simple absorbs the weight, sends it through and down his body to the soles of his feet. The result is I am essentially pushing against the ground because he is grounding out my push and negating my energy. The concept can be seen illustrated in ancient architecture where arches are built. The top center stone in an arch is the keystone and transfers all of its weight into the stones upon which it is resting and locks the structure. The heavier the stone, and the harder you push on it, the more it locks the other stones in place as it transfers its weight into the ground. This is used strategically in martial arts, in many martial feats and, sometimes, in some martial arts trickery. But it is an important and useful concept to understand and use.

ConclusionThis is just a few of the many exercises that strengthen the horse and the foundation or root. We will show more exercises in future issues. In the mean time, build your leg strength with these techniques and reap the benefits of improved leg strength, discipline and focus, and many health benefits offered with these methods. And, as always, be sure to check with your doctor to make sure you are physically able to do this kind of exercise. Andy KunzInterview Andy KunzInterview

The Swiss filmmakers and martial artist Andy Kunz emigrated around 2 years ago with his family in the Philippines. Emigration has been documented by the Swiss TV station TV3 + in the docu-soap "Farewell homeland". While his family has returned to Switzerland, he still lives in the Philippines. He makes films and runs it for the peace organization "Sword of Freedom" various relief efforts.

Page 63: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

INTERVIEW What motivated you in the Philippines to be charitable activities?

AK: When we were still living here as a family we had a nanny who came from a poor family in the province. They told my wife from the barren life of the rural population and the hunger and lack of medical care they had to suffer. We decided summarily with a van full of food grab and go to the village of our nanny. And we did it once a month. More to not let our budget.

So what happened then?

We soon noticed that came to help our facilities with the facilities to their limits. Therefore, we sought a way with an organization to collaborate. Finally we joined the peace organization "Sword of Freedom". In April 2012 we had a ten-member German-Romanian delegation of "Sword of Freedom" in Manila to host. Your manager Bernd Cave drew various people for their humanitarian achievements. Sometimes the first female general of the Philippine military general Ramona Palabrica Go and General Joseph Sevilla who had used a lot in the past few years for the medical care of the rural population. Meanwhile, I'm a representative of "Sword of Freedom" here in the Philippines and therefore entrusted to plan and guide the relief efforts. Meanwhile, a close cooperation with General Go has developed.

What does the concept of humanitarian aid?

First, let's go with the medical relief work regularly and take as much medicine as possible to the people they can not afford. But that is not enough. It takes a hospital where poor people can be treated for free. We are therefore looking for medical equipment such as X-ray equipment, a laboratory for blood tests, a dentist chair, etc. All this does not have to be new. Also discarded and obsolete equipment can still save lives and to the benefit of many sick and suffering contribute. The hospital is a long-term project. How long it will take to implement depends on the support we receive from the. Until then, however, we will carry out our regular relief. The victims of the floods could be helped? In the slums there are still neighborhoods where the water can not run off since the floods. The families have retreated to the upper floors of their scrap wood and corrugated iron buildings, because the lower floors are still under water. Many have no electricity because lines and counters were destroyed by the water. But the biggest problem is the number of mosquitoes, whose larvae develop in water. Carry disease. The masses of water had to be pumped out of these neighborhoods. But nobody seems to be responsible for it. It is as if you have copied these families and the many suffering children easily. Document step of your project with a clip on youtube.

What for?

On one hand, I want as many people know about our project. To help effectively, we need financial support. On the other hand me transparency is important. Donors should get there to see where the donated equipment and money and who they help. All that should help us to share in our success. I want to see what everyone brings his help. We read again and again statistics in newspapers. So many thousand children starve occur on land mines, are being kidnapped, etc. But there are only numbers and not touch us. When I was at our last relief in the coffin of a ten year old girl was that had died shortly before our arrival, because you can not afford the doctor could, that touched me more than all the statistics I have ever read. I want to touch people with pictures and share the fate of the people here have. It will be promoted understanding and familiarity established.

Will there be more PR campaigns?

Last week we had a meeting with General Go and Japanese pop singer Baby M. Baby M is in Asia because of their charity concerts famous. She has composed a song titled "Dreams", with whom she will support our project.

Page 64: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Do you miss anything in the Philippines?

I currently live very spartan. My only luxury is my computer. Otherwise, I have neither a fridge nor a television. I sleep on the floor and my day starts with a hard workout. First, strength training, then martial arts, that is Kung Fu and the Filipino Martial Arts Arnis. I have excellent teachers and I try therefore to be able to learn as much from them. This is pretty much my life, because there is hardly anything would be able to distract me from my training and the consistent striving of my goals.

What are those goals?

In terms of our aid projects my biggest goal is certainly to build a hospital in San Enrique to Iloilo. In this hospital are poor people are treated for free. In addition, I would also like to establish a program in which children and youth can learn to fight free. This program will keep the next generation of drugs and alcohol away. As for my work as a filmmaker, so my goal is to make his own action movies. Here can be produced very cheaply. There are also a lot of good martial artist with acting ambitions here.

What is your current project?

My current project is called "The Manila Dragon". An action film with Vic Tiro and me. In the lead roles Which I am particularly proud of is a commercial for an energy drink with the boxer Manny Pacquiao, in which I played his coach.

If you think back to the previous period in the Philippines, which was the worst experience for you?

Because I am an absolute dog lover I had bought on the market a boxer puppy. Although we left check vaccinate the dog at the animal hospital, and de wormed, the dog always behaved strangely. As far led until he was completely disoriented, constantly ran into walls and yelped in pain constantly. The poor animal had rabies. In the animal hospital refused you look at the dog, for which there was no prospect of cure or remedy to euthanize. We were advised to lock the dog until he would die by itself. We refused, however, to let the animal die so painful, so we had no other choice than to kill it by hand. That was a terrible experience. And even though I always say that it was better to free the dog from his pain, there still remains a stale feeling. Sword of Freedom, the country's population is mostly neither health insurance nor a retirement pension. The lack of a social safety net's every man for himself. The old man makes no descendants and disabled especially hard. At present, every three months, medical relief efforts by the Philippine military are performed. The military is working with various agencies together hand in hand. Sword of Freedom utilizes regularly the medical relief effort by the Philippine Arm forces in Iloilo. This time we brought five boxes of medicine that has been distributed free of charge to the poor people. Sword of Freedom works closely with General Go, the first female general in the Philippine Arm Forces together. She has been campaigning for many years for free medical care for the poor. Thus the relief efforts can be successful it needs medicine and medical equipment. Sword of Freedom has to collect it therefore set itself the task as much medicine to be able to leave them free to sick people. To people who otherwise afford medical care can not. Also donations of glasses are always welcome. For people with low vision means a matching glasses a great quality of life. And also an eyeglass frame that has come to us out of fashion here yet fulfilled its purpose.

A Project to start with: The Aid of abandoned and very poor children We started our help form the most needy who are the people suffering the most, being the

weakest in society. They are the abandoned children of the slums. These slums are a product of the war. Because of the war, many peasants were displaced from the fields and started moving

into the cities. Then these are especially the abandoned fathered by the lewd irresponsible Japanese tourists. We must help now in the first place. These slums are overpopulated with

abandoned children of Japanese descent. Monica has gone through innumerable trials and hardships to continue her charity work, being the

director of the Kapatiran International Foundation, with the help of her two daughters and Mr. Kiyoshi Osawa. At present, she has adopted two children and works to help feeding the 221

children. At last in Japan, the work of Monica has been favorably understood and the circle of people who support her activities started to expand. The activities of the foundation are facing a big change in the 21st century of Asia. We are aiming at building a community for the abandoned children with the desire that with the expansion of our activities, they will become a bridge to bind our country

with the Philippines and other countries of Asia.

A Bridge between the Philippines and Japan In our community for the abandoned children, we are planning facilities for the children's housing, for medical care and rehabilitation, for school to train the children for different jobs and trades. To

assure self-support and self-sufficiency and agricultural plant is on the planning. The future development of this community to serve as a bridge between Japan and the Philippines

will emphasize the following three (3) activities: 1. The Agro-plant and the technical cooperation and support to benefit the ecology.

2. The exchange of personnel for the care and hospitality. 3. The formation and educational help to foster the needed personnel.

Our desire is to expand this small work to help the abandoned children of the whole of Asia. After the Philippines, to China, Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, and all over the continent.

Our trust in Japan and the World We think that with the supporting activities of the three fields mentioned. Our country will not only assume responsibility for the war, but it will assume a true leadership on the 21st century of Asia and it will be able to gain a new relationship of trust and confidence among the Asian Nations. The 21st century is for individuals to act. Not the states nor the governments, it is the time for

individuals who have awakened, with the same ideas, the same purpose and commitment. It is the time when works of citizens will take over great functions. We desire to expand this network to all the Asian soil and even to the world. We desire to go on, hand in hand with every individual, filled

with hope to build a bridge to bind Asian countries in the 21st century.

Street Children Project: Our Mission Aim: Slum's poor children, Japanese-Filipino mixed blood children, and the abandoned children by

the extremely poor families wil be the target of these activities of merciful work. Contents:

1. The construction of housing for all those children mentioned above. 2. Distribution of food for children of extremely poor families.

3. Education for those children Location: The district of Muntinlupa slums on the outskirts of Manila, Philippines

History and Present Encounter with Mr. Kiyoshi Osawa

Monica, the director of the Kapatiran International foundation, has helped in the activities of the above Manila location for six years. Mr. Kiyoshi Osawa started working with her in the Island of

Lubang, where Mr. Onoda hid after the war for 29 years. There, Mr. Osawa built and constructed a hospital for charity. Mr. Osawa was born in 1904 in the prefecture of Gunma and by himself,

traveled to the Philippines at the age of 19. From that time he engaged in many charity works. He became an honorary citizen of Manila Muntinlupa City and of the Island of Lubang. On his

birthday, every year there are big celebration in his honor. But not only that, he experienced the war and literally was saved from the dead by the Filipinos, and cooperated in many charitable

activities carried out by the Japanese. He is aware of the suffering and sadness the war caused to the Filipino people and he has carried in himself

as a Japanese, the responsibility for those atrocities in his pure heart, recognizing, more than anything else, the great generosity and kindness of the people in the Philippines.

Together with the suffering Monica was impressed by Mr. Osawa doings and with his help, as a Japanese National, began

working for the abandoned children. It is not known publicly that the tourist “pleasure trips” of the Japanese to the Philippines has left lots of mix-blood children of Japanese descent, without name,

without nationality. The war too, produced the slums, where, including the children fathered by Japanese men, lots of other hungry and abandoned children live. For all of them, Monica started working, a former British citizen, alone, helped by her two daughters and her family back home. Her work counts six years and now she helps to feed 221 children and has adopted a boy that even the hospital refused to admit, given his miserable condition of a child abandoned on the street. At present, thanks to the strenuous efforts of Monica to care for him, he is a very energetic kid, fond of mischief and in full development. The little adopted girl, has been abused and raped at age four. The wounds both in

their hearts and body, were diffult to curve. But now, years after her adoption, she shows a beautiful smile and is being educated as a cheerful little girl, like her younger brother.

Page 67: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

The Birth of “Baby M” Help from the family Monica was born in England and was raised in South Africa. There, Monica witnessed the

unconditional discrimination of the Black people whose sufferings struck deeply into her young heart with sympathy for them. “I sided always by the blacks and always wanted to become one of

them,” says Monica. That original experience remained with her forever. She married a Japanese, came to Japan and

gave birth to two girls. After taking a Japanese nationality, she ran an English school, while educating her two daughters in a busy life.

Then one day, a great event changed her life. Seven years ago, she ran into a serious accident which resulted to injuries imperiling her life. In ordinary circumstances her helpless state would not have saved her, but miraculously, in a mysterious way, her life was spared. There after, Monica's

life changed totally. Her deep faith in God, the sense that she had been born with a purpose became stronger and stronger with the passing of days. It was at that time that she met Mr.

Osawa. Soon she decided to consecrate her life to the abandoned children of the Philippines. Nowadays, the family of her daughter Naomi in the Philippines continues being supportive on the

spot. The other daughter of Monica is just 17 years old and very beautiful. She received from God a great gift: Music and singing. Miyuki, now “Baby M”, has made her debut as a singer. From the very beginning, she has shared her songs with the Filipino children to whom she has related in

many ways. With her earnings as a singer, she helps her mother's activities for the children. She has produced a CD by Toei music which was sold for charity. She had her major debut in Tokyo

and she has also done a charity concert in the Philippines on November 23, 2001. In this way, with the aid from her family, Monica has launched her project for the abandoned

children community and overcoming for a long time. Despite countless hardships and trials, she continues to expand it. The unrelenting love for the Filipinos of those two Japanese citizens, Mr. Osawa and Monica, was the starting point of this small movement which now, with the help of many Filipino-Japanese people with golden hearts, people are awakened to their type of work

which is expanding. We hope that this small movement would turn into a great wave to reach the whole of Asia someday. It is with this prayer in our hearts that we continue our activities.

“There are still deep wounds left from World War Two. What will happen if the third appears?”

Get Off Your Launching Pad

Before any launching, officials conduct tests to verify operational efficiency. All equipment is tested and instruments checked. As you go through your journey of life, you, too, should evaluate the instruments youuse . . . your methods of thinking . . . your behavioral habits.

It¹s important to keep a constant check on these instruments they not only determine the course you will follow, but will guide and steer you all the way. If these instruments are improperly set, you not only won¹t end up where you wanted to go, you won¹t even enjoy the trip.

Beware of procrastinating a treacherous behavior often caused by various fears, the most common one being fear of failure. Procrastination is a stubborn obstruction that will decay your dreams and prevent you fromaccomplishing your life¹s goals. Stop now and evaluate if procrastination is jamming up any of your instruments. Let me tell you how mine finally got checked.

Once I heard a speaker make the statement that it sometimes takes death to teach us about life. I didn't really pay attention to this remark until 38 years ago when a terrible car accident nearly took my sweetheart¹s life.

Page 70: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

Suddenly our own mortality was brought into sharp focus a reality that loomed before me as an ever-growing giant. It was no longer an abstract event far in the distant future that before never seemed to ring true as areality, one that would inevitably happen. I began to develop an awareness and desire to make better use of my time and my life. I thought of all the wasted time . . . all the opportunities missed or not followed throughbecause of the habit of putting things off. Procrastination is a malady of epidemic proportions.

I am recognized throughout the world as a leading voice in the development of personal consciousness motivation and spiritual enlightenment. Periodically, I receive interesting questions concerning other philosophies: secular or religious. Here is one that I received from a person in India. My response is such that you may perhaps be threatened, but the reality is just that, the reality...in my view.

Question: Hanshi, please explain to us if the power of the dybbuk and the qui are from beyond this Universe. If so, is the source also outside this Universe? Is the source the same for all the galaxies?

Response: I assume (hate to “assume” anything) that you are thinking of “ki” and “c'hi" or perhaps a malevolent spirit, and so before I address your question, let me begin with a statement. Before I address your question, let me begin with a statement. If I am to teach you how the universe works and what the original intention of creation is...not was, acknowledge the answer that I will present as a possibility.

The reason for the creation of the universe is moot in that it is meaningless to try to determine what may be or may have been in the Creative Power of the Universe or as an aspect of it. Note first that I do not mention Creative Power of the Universe's mind or any restrictive notion that would suggest any compromising consideration that

Understanding the Motivation of the Universeby Stephen F Kaufman

would further suggest any reason behind the concept of creation. This is all irrespective of scientific research and other man-construed reasons for trying to figure out what all of this is about along with the assumption that it has any bearing on anything at all.

It is also curious to me that many sincere masters misconstrue the meaning of Musashi's Book of Five Rings by insisting that the Book of the Void be called “ku,” nothing, relative to “mu,” no-thing. This alone causes considerable difficulty in trying to teach the concept of creation and this is where the thrust of all confusion emanates from. “Ku” is incorrect because nothing is still something by definition and, therefore, has a presumed identity that is not acceptable to this enlightened mind. If anything is presumed to have an origination, ex nihilo (something out of nothing), it is essential that a seeker after such knowledge take into consideration universal enigma and personal ego. How do I know this? I know it, having realized the significance of the concept of no-thing.

It all begins with the misguided notion of control. What do you think you mean by “beyond this universe?” You also talk about galaxies as if they are separate entities that may possibly contain forms beyond our own limited perspectives. Whether this is true or not it remains “hidden” (for lack of a better word) from what we consider to be extensions of our own intellect. This leads to the idea of religion that does nothing to enhance our understanding of anything as it may or may not be.

Page 73: ATTU Magazine October Issue 2012

From the above parameters it seems that the lack of ability for the human mind to discern origination is the causality of all the confusion and horror that the world experiences; hence, the invention of concepts that intelligent thought explains as the reasons for “things” that may essentially have no reason to exist outside of the common fear of the unknown.

I will not pick out any particular “ism” to poke fun at or for that matter to celebrate as functional. Living a sedentary life is more in line with sanity than the fear that causes us to look for something that may not be there. And if it is, then it would have probably revealed itself by this time. As well, if this profound knowledge has not been revealed to even the most sublime, with the exception of the likes of Buddha, Jesus, Moses, Allah, whomever, perhaps it doesn't exist, or even more to the point...there is no point. But, so what! This leads us to the idea of “magic.” Most magic is illusion based on the sensory understanding of things that we assume can or cannot be and then becomes philosophical diversion or rather distraction from being at true inner peace with oneself. I have come to not enjoy witchcraft in any form of ritual to pervade my essence. They all presume to open a path to enlightenment that is a complete waste of time to pursue. Self-Revealization Acceptance cuts through the sophomoric hyperbole and demonstrates for the individual exact perfection based on thought and desire. You want to be enlightened and be able to do “parlor tricks? POOF! You're enlightened and can now do “parlor tricks,” such as walking on fiery coals, breaking sweats in the middle of a frozen pond, putting your hand through ten boards, etc. I am sure you get the idea. The same applies to wanting someone dead and making someone dead: two completely different things. I like to use the life and death paradigm as it puts things in direct perspective.

Are we having fun yet? The idea here is that humans, in their utter lack of ability to come to terms with the tragedy of their own inconsequence, will always make up things in the attempt of thinking that they actually understand anything. This is also based on misunderstanding our own intellects caused by egotistical thinking. Dybbuks, golems, zombies, etal, are simply devices we use to try to explain what does not have to be explained. Ki, c'hi, soul are devices we use to attain levels of consciousness that we believe will empower us to perform amazing feats. Secret codes, mantras, mandalas, butterflies, peppermints, or whatever anyone would presume to be the “answer” are silly. The reality is that the attitude of living in joy and freedom is overlooked for lack of sensibility and thinking, or worse, believing that someone else knows the answers to the questions that have no answers. As Buddha no doubt said, “Ain't no thing. Stop playing with your petunias.”

You really want to know where it's at? Study Self-Revealization Acceptance; it is the key to the universe. You asked...I answered.

Excerpt from The Lady of the Rings - Musashi's Book of Five Rings Strategy Interpreted for Women.

I spoke previously to you about redundancy and the repetition of ideas that Musashi insisted upon. The repetition is to reinforce your new way of thinking and the variation in which it is presented can only aid you in the accomplishment of your goals when you see the same thing from different angles.

Deal with any and all situations by going through them to the core of the matter. If necessary, renew your own desire for accomplishment, especially when you find that things are falling into place too easily. This can be your downfall. You must stay on top of it even though you think you are losing connection to previous thought of ideals. Else, you may be starting to think that you have discovered the key to the universe and will become lax in your endeavor. Don't worry about losing contact with previous ideas. You will only find that you are ascending to a higher level of your own consciousness and that you will come together with those things that can only enhance your life.

Whenever I approach something, it is with complete and utter resolve. Having made appropriate plans for my new sense of self, I had no difficulty in simply falling on top of the matter and dealing with it as something I was on top of. In the martial arts, this is called the "falling leaves" approach. I am always able to see things with a broader perspective when I observe things from the top. I can only do this when I am sure that I understand the situation to the best of my ability from all angles. When I know what I am doing and know my own reasons for wanting to do so, then it is without trouble that I can permit myself to fall onto a situation that can be better for me in the long run.

Self-revealization acceptance is not to be confused with an affirmation! It is a direct link to the Creative Power of the Universe and may, therefore, be considered a specific key to the desire you want to experience. In my book, Practicing Self-Revealization Acceptance - 52 Weekly Ascensions to Empower Your Life, the generic format of each ascension will guide you to self-mastery of your own creative genius—the very same genius that anyone has ever had and ever will have!

As you develop familiarity with the particular self-revealization acceptance, you will begin to observe specific changes that are directly focused on the condition you are working on to change. As with all things in life, some effort has to be put into your self-demanding in any area of endeavor. The Spirit of the Thing Itself accepts your reality as you portray it as an aspect of your divine right to live in joy and freedom. Visualize your new reality of the universe. Accept your magnificence!
