Sessions will be held on Tuesday, January 17 at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 18 at 7:00PM. and Saturday, January 28 at 9:30AM at Wyandot Memorial Hospital basement conference room. You must at-

tend one of these sessions. Also available at the volunteer sessions will be 2017 Wyandot County 4-H information and club packets.

To the Wyandot County 4-H Community,

“The time has come, the walrus said, to speak of many things….” The many things I have learned from all of you, the many fine people I have met and come to know and respect, the many times I have given thanks for the opportunity to serve Wyandot County and 4-H.

I now need to attend to a little….life. I will be retiring from OSU Extension and the position of Wyandot County 4-H educator, effective January 28, 2017.

I am truly grateful for the unfailing support I have received from our 4-H Program Assistant, Di-ane Wisda and from our OSU Extension office associate, Elaine Tschanen. They will keep 4-H in Wyandot County going until my replacement is on board—hopefully by Memorial Day. The Uni-versity has processes in place that must be followed, but will result in the best possible person to be the next OSU Extension 4-H educator for our county.

to 4-H.

Agronomic Crop Research Experience (ACRE) Summer Internships

The Ohio State University Agronomic Crops Team is now accepting applications for 2017 Summer ACRE interns. The Agronomic Crop Re-search Experience (ACRE) program seeks to provide a rich training experience to undergrad-uate students in a wide diversity of disciplines related to agronomic crop research. Interns will support on-farm research by being placed in strategic hubs throughout the state. Students will gain real-world experience in scouting, sam-pling and evaluating agronomic crops in Ohio. Undergraduates, graduating seniors and incom-ing OSU graduate students are welcome to ap-ply.

The internships are paid, full-time summer positions lasting 12-14 weeks. Applications are due Janu-ary 13th, 2017.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: The 4-H Camp Counselors are a group of 4-H teens selected to assist in being responsible for campers ages 8-13 during 4-H camp. As a result of participation, counselors will develop knowledge; skills, atti-tudes and aspirations needed for adult success, and the Wyandot County 4-H program will be strengthened and expanded.

Here is the group (minus one) that will be travel-ing with me to the National 4-H Conference in Washing-ton D.C. We will be in D.C. the week of March 25-30, 2017. During the Conference, we will be staying at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

During National 4-H Conference, delegates are given the opportunity to engage in personal develop-ment that challenges them to strengthen their knowledge, resources, and skills while discussing current topics affecting youth and 4-H programming nation-wide. Delegates not only learn while at conference; they are empowered to create positive social changes in their communities and have the chance to practice and apply their skills in a real-world setting. While in Washington, D.C., the delegates learn while having fun and meeting 4-H members from all over the United States.

I was selected to go to the National Conference through the Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council, in which Rachael Herring and myself are members. TLC, as it’s known, is a group of energetic and passionate 4-H mem-bers from all over Ohio working to improve 4-H throughout the state. 4-H is a wonderful organization and 4-H members in this county have the opportunities for many great experiences offered by the Ohio 4-H pro-gram. I would love to see more of our members take ad-vantage of these opportunities, and would gladly help in any way that I can so more members can take ad-vantage of the possibilities.
