SIMILARITIES

• The Patient has the right to see their medical record. However, no-one else has the right to access that information.

• You cannot accept inappropriate gifts from your clients. These may be a sign of attempted bribery or mental weaknesses.

• The Doctor should attempt to continue “furthering their education” throughout their career.

• ‘Incompetence, Corruption, Dishonesty, or Unethical Behavior is reprehensible.” It undermines the trust of the people ~ you will be liable civilly (fines) and criminally (Prison).

• It is important to preserve relationships; however, it is equally important that the employees not accept bribes.

• While it is acceptable to accept simple gifts, gifts offered with the purpose of influencing you to act a certain way should always be rejected.

• Standard Rule:• They must be of little value.

• They must be within the normal standards of hospitality and protocol (Wine Bottle)

• Do not compromise your integrity.

• Do not retain gifts that belong to the company.

AVOIDING CONFLICTS OF INTEREST

• Avoid anything that you have a personal interest in.

• If you end up in a problem report it to your boss.

• Within a company, avoid using information you access to buy or sell stocks in the company.

• Avoid working with Family Members.

• Avoid Sleeping with the Clients.

• Avoid working with Extremely Close Friends as your Clients.

LIMITATIONS ON P OLITICAL ACTIVITY

• You have to be very careful how you interact in politics when representing the company.

• Typically avoid:• Endorsing a particular candidate

• Discussing or Denigrating Laws or Political Parties or Organizations while in an official capacity.

CONDUCT REGARDING FINANCES

• Personally, you must fulfill all financial obligations and meet all laws (ie pay your own taxes).

• Avoid getting into debt or making loans to other employees, especially your subordinates or bosses.

• You should not handle company money unless approved by the company. The Company should put all authorization in writing.
