Commissioning

26

Avoid any operational mode that may be prejudicial tosafety. Before beginning work, familiarize yourself with thelocation of installation and circumstances of the site. This includes obstacles in the working and travellingarea, the earth load capacity and any barriers separatingthe location of installation from public roads.Take the necessary precautions to ensure that themachine is used only when in a safe and reliable state.Operate the machine only if all protective and safety-oriented devices, such as removable safety devices,sound-proofing elements and exhausters, are in placeand fully functional.Check the machine for obvious damage and faults eachtime you use it. Report any changes (incl. changes inthe machine’s working behaviour) to a specializeddealer. If necessary, stop the machine immediately andlock it.In the event of malfunctions, stop the machineimmediately and lock it. Have any defects rectifiedimmediately.Start the machine from the driver’s seat only.During start-up and shut-down procedures alwayswatch the indicators in accordance with the operatingand assembly instructions. Before starting up or setting the machine in motion, make sure that nobody is at risk.

Before starting work or travelling with the machine, check that the braking, steering, signalling and lightingsystems are fully functional. Before setting the machine in motion always check thatthe accessories have been safely stowed away. When driving on public roads, pathways or openspaces, observe the applicable traffic regulations and,if appropriate, make the necessary adjustments to themachine to ensure it meets the legal requirements. In conditions of poor visibility and after dark alwaysensure that there is sufficient lighting.Always keep at a distance from the edges of buildingpits and slopes.Avoid any operation that might be a risk to machinestability.Never travel across slopes; always keep the workingequipment and the load close to the ground, especiallywhen travelling downhill. On sloping terrain always adapt your travelling speedto the prevailing ground conditions. Never change toa lower gear on a slope but always before reaching it.Before leaving the driver’s seat always secure themachine against inadvertent movement andunauthorized use.

WARNING!Before using the lawn tractor without an attachment, cover the claw clutch at the quick-coupler with theguard and secure with a bolt.

1) Close protective cover. 2) Fasten protective cover with a bolt.

IMPORTANT Pay attention to the following:• fuel and oil leaks, rectify if necessary• snug fit of bolts and nuts, tighten if necessary• ease of movement of all moving parts, lubricate if necessary

28

Observe the adjusting, maintenance and inspectionactivities and intervals set out in the operatinginstructions, including information on the replacementof parts and equipment. These activities may beexecuted by skilled personnel only. See maintenanceschedule.Brief operating personnel before beginning specialoperations and maintenance work, andappoint a person to supervise the activities. In any work concerning the operation, conversion oradjustment of the machine and its safety-orienteddevices or any work related to maintenance, inspectionand repair, always observe the start-up and shut-downprocedures set out in the operating instructions andthe information on maintenance work. Ensure that themaintenance area is adequately secured. If the machine is completely shut down for maintenanceand repair work, it must be secured against inadvertentstarting by:-removing the ignition key-attaching a warning sign to the ignition unit.Carry out maintenance and repair work only if themachine is positioned on stable and level ground andhas been secured against inadvertent movement andbuckling. To avoid the risk of accidents, individual parts andlarge assemblies being moved for replacement purposesshould be carefully attached to lifting tackle andsecured. Use only suitable and technically perfect liftinggear and suspension systems with adequate liftingcapacity. Never work or stand under suspended loads.Never use machine parts as a climbing aid.Keep all handles and steps free from dirt, snow and ice.Clean the machine, especially connections andthreaded unions, of any traces of oil, fuel orpreservatives before carrying out maintenance/repair.Never use aggressive detergents. Use lint-free cleaningrags. Before cleaning the machine with water, high-pressurecleaners or detergents, cover or tape over all openingswhich require protection against the intrusion of water, steam or detergent for safety or function-relatedreasons. Special care must be taken with electric motorsand other components under voltage.

After cleaning, remove all covers/tape applied for thatpurpose. After cleaning, examine all fuel and oil lines for leaks, loose connections, and signs of abrasion or damage.Any defects found must be rectified without delay.Always tighten any screwed connectionsthat have been loosened during maintenance and repair.Any safety devices removed for set-up, maintenanceor repair purposes must be refitted and checkedimmediately upon completion of the maintenance andrepair work.Ensure that all consumables and replaced parts aredisposed of safely and with minimum environmentalimpact. The electrical equipment of machines is to be inspectedand checked at regular intervals. Defects such as looseconnections or scorched cables must be rectifiedimmediately. Before starting work on high-voltage assemblies andafter cutting out the power supply, the power cablemust be grounded and components such as capacitorsshort-circuited with a grounding rod.Never leave internal combustion engines to run in aclosed or small room. The exhaust gas containspoisonous carbon monoxide.Observe the regulations in force at the respective site.Carry out welding, flame-cutting and grinding work onthe machine only if this has been expressly authorized,i.e. there may be a risk of fire or explosion! Before carrying out welding, flame-cutting and grindingoperations, clean the machine and its surroundingsfrom dust and other inflammable substances and makesure that the premises are adequately ventilated (riskof explosion).Check all lines, hoses and screwed connectionsregularly for leaks and obvious damage.
