STORM DAMAGE UPDATE The Town’s Engineering Team has engaged with Cardno to review the flooding areas from July’s storm events. The table below is a list of all reported and identified flooding areas throughout the Town which will be investigated by Cardno. The Table is prioritised as: 1. Red – High Priority 2. Amber – Priority 3. Green – Potential issue 4. Blue – Unlikely an issue

Page 18: ATTACHMENT 5 TO ITEM 10 - cambridge.wa.gov.au

Street Name Reported Water in property

Details Priority Code Rating Action undertaken

Joseph Street Yes Flooding to front door from two blocked drains on the street. Green Educted

*unknown location as yet Yes Waist-deep water at property. SES has been called. He will email in with pictures following clean up to initiate a review of drainage in the area.

Alderbury Street Yes Sump at 50 Alderbury Street full overflowing into property Blue

Alexander Street Underpass No Underpass flooded 15-20cm Amber

Arbordale and Alderbury Street intersection no Localised flooding at intersection Blue

Bent Street, Brompton Road, Chipping Road, WCH No Reports of ~80cm flooding. Blue

Boronia Crescent Yes Claims of flooding due to lack of kerb height adjacent to property. This is a building site. Green

Boronia Crescent Yes

The next door neighbours (top, north side) have a driveway which does not have a reasonable lip. When it rains, the water rushes down the street, into their driveway, over the pedestrian refuge in front of my letterbox and into my driveway. It is like a river going down my drive and into my carport (10 to 20 cm deep) an along my front verandah, right across to my southern neighbours dividing fence and lapping my front door. The water has formed a lake in my front yard. Interestingly, my driveway is also sloping down, but the water runs down the street and not into my yard. My double driveway (also brick paved) must have the correct configuration of slope and curb onto the road. This never happened for the 1st 20 years with my previous neighbours and their old house and driveway. The current house and its driveway configuration is a constant problem and quite dangerous when torrential rain occurs. I have taken photos and a video of the lake outside my door, in my yard and in my carport. I cannot make them small enough to attach so will show the officer once he or she arrives at my home.

Green

Brompton Rd no Called in to report flooding at the carpark of the Church. Green

Page 19: ATTACHMENT 5 TO ITEM 10 - cambridge.wa.gov.au

Champion Crescent No

I would like to report an issue with storm water backing up at 5 & 7 Champion Crescent Floreat. During the recent heavy rains the storm water was not adequately draining and was pooling significantly over the verges. More concerning was the storm water could not escape from our property at 7 Champion Crescent and caused flooding in our garage. Can the council please investigate the cause of the poor street drainage and rectify

Amber

Chipping Road No Localised flooding at low point Green

Connolly Street No South of Ruislip Street intersection adjacent to 55 Connolly Street. No ingress into property but water holding in road causing localised flooding Green Educted

Crosby Street Yes

Grated Pit on Crosby Street (North of the property) is overflowing during heavy rainfall event. That runoff on Crosby Street was causing flooding issues in front of the property and driveway. The resident has put sand bag as a measure at his own cost. Will be sending photos of the affected areas.

Blue

Elphin St Yes Drain at the front of 28 Elphin St is blocked due to construction waste, which is resulting in flooding, my garage flooded as a result of the build-up. Property at 30 Elphin St subject to flooding

Green

Floreat Beach Car Park No Send Snap Solve Water always builds up here when it rains. There is no drain. Can this be considered for improvement, please. Blue

Glengarriff Drive Yes

He said he witnessed the Town resurface Glengarriff and bitumen straight over the existing drains – apparently when he asked the worker what he was dong covering the drains he just shrugged. Now his property is underwater “almost to the power-points” He said he will be holding the Town personally liable for all damage to his house and will pursue insurance claims. As an aside, he was told by a depot staff member to go to the depot to collect free sandbags and when he got there at ten to 4 today it was closed and no sandbags there. Just letting you know as we can expect this one to escalate.

Blue

Gregory St No The drain at front was so inundated with water it didn’t drain away and we had a flooded front yard which nearly came in our front door - I have a photo of water up to outside of drain and not drains away at all!!

Blue

Harborne Street Resident reported flooding and drain blockage. Backyard of the property was flooding from Logan Lane due to the Friday storm event. Do not have any photos of the situation but accusing the soak well on the Lane way was overflowing and creating water logging on all over the lane.

Green

Harrogate Street Yes Eloise, from Oakwood Pty Ltd rang to say that due to flooding from the road, their basement is now flooded. Blue Educted pits

Herdsman Parade No Minor flooding at low point Green

Page 20: ATTACHMENT 5 TO ITEM 10 - cambridge.wa.gov.au

Howtree Place Yes

Adjacent to Reabold Tennis Club. Pit failure likely to inundation and debris over gully grate (double pit with Side Entry) causing water to flow over kerb and footpath. Significant scour and washout down tiered embankment into Reabold and underneath path (turbulence effect). Will require box out and reconstruction. Hazard management is in place for the meantime until works commence 12/13 July.

Red Site has been made safe and works to repair will commence 16 July 2021

Joseph Street Yes Their neighbour and footpath are flooded due to the drain overflowing. Green Educted pits

Lake Monger Drive No Flooding at the corner of Kimberly and Lake Monger Drive. Blue

McCourt Street Park Sump Yes Runoff from surroundings flooding park and detention basin - As soon as road pits failed through inundation the park completely filled within 5 minutes Red Review by contractor who undertook the work

Moray Ave

Rebecca recently experienced flooding due to drainage problems at 20 Moray Avenue Floreat. She was home at the time and able to mitigate the excess rain, however she says if she wasn’t, her house would have been flooded. She would like to talk with a technical officer / engineer about the Moray Avenue Drainage Plan and what is being done to address the problems with the drains in the future.

Blue

Moray Ave Yes

Send Snap Solve reported flooding around 70 Moray Ave Image provided; Historically, we have had issues with flooding at 70 Moray Ave, Floreat. Several years ago work was undertaken by council to address these problem, but I don't believe the significant works that we were promised at the time, have ever undertaken. With the downpour yesterday, we suffered significant flooding to our property. The street outside resembled a lake, as did our front yard, with 20cm of water in our garage. Could we urgently have sand bags delivered to protect our property come Monday's storms, please. Could we also have sand bags delivered to our 90 year old neighbour at 68 Moray Ave who also experiences flooding of her property, please.

Blue Educted pits

North Banff Road Yes In the past two significant rain events (9 July, 3 July) drains out the front of our house have not taken the water and our front yard and garage have flooded Blue

Oakdale and Alderbury Street No Localised flooding at intersection Green

Oceanic Dr intersections with Louth & Arbordale Street No Localised flooding minor inundation to 29 & 34 Arbordale Street Green

Blue

Ruislip Street No Stormwater penetrating down footpaths of Tate Street due to runoff from lack of kerbing height and footpath ramp at intersection - western side Blue

Selby Street No

Claims of flooding due to Selby Street shared path works. Highly unlikely as picture given indicates water of approximately 25mm and evidence of water sheeting off of roof onto ground. Have sandbagged verge near driveway as measure to deal with resident.

Amber Water diverted back onto road

Tarongo Way Yes

On Friday July 9, 2021 our property at 41 Tarongo Way, City Beach, was flooded due to heavy rainfall. The storm water drain located in the road at the front of our property is inadequate and caused all the water from the rainfall to flow into our property which caused flood damage. Even with light/moderate rainfall this storm water drain does not do its job and we end up with flooding at the front of our property on every occasion.

Green

The Boulevard No Flooding in the street. Green

The Boulevard Yes

My garage gets flooded every time there is heavy rain like today and water floods down my driveway. Could you please look into this so that the water flows into the drain and not down my driveway.

Project Title South City Beach Kiosk (The Kiosk)

Summary Concept Design Options for the Kiosk Future

Commencement Date August 21 Estimated Completion Date May 22

Total Budget $50,000 Actual Cost to date $52

Risk 2 - High Updated Estimated Total Budget $50,000

The proposed South City Beach Kiosk redevelopment options were presented to the Town’s Design Review Panel (DRP) on 9 July 2021. The options were also sent to the Heritage Council of Western Australia (Heritage Council) seeking their feedback. The Town received feedback from the Heritage Council and DRP which are summarised below:

• None of the three concept design options were supported by the DRP and State Heritage. • The DRP suggested leasing the Kiosk, developing a businesses and keep it as an iconic asset in WA. They also

Every break is unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the "scars" as a part of the design. This workshop includes a gold repair kit with all necessary equipment and tuition.
