Statement: using these factors is deemed to

reach reliability targets

Reliability targets for different levels of exposure

are explicitly stated in the normative section

Option is given to use other factors as long as

reliability targets are met


Background for Target Reliability

L1 => 10-5 comes from Canadian S 471

Yearly probability of failure (YPOF) can be one

order of magnitude greater than the reliability

target

YPOF would be “generally equivalent” to the

values in other ISO 19900 series documents

Reference to ISO 19902 and reliability levels

quoted in A.9.9.3.3 (incorrect interpretation)
