Ltd. In collaboration with Signalling Technology Pty. Ltd., an  Australian company, the ATLDS incorporates the best of GPS (Global Positioning System), CDS (Computerised Despatch System), IVR (Interactive Voice Response) and Public Mobile Data Network (PMDN) technologies. The implementation of ATLDS is part of TIBS' continual effort to improve its reliability, efficiency and service level in the provision of taxis services. The user-friendly system allows customers to make booking of taxis through the telephone, PC dial-up, credit card terminal, palm top and the IVR system. The system locates the most suitable taxis (based on a number of search criteria) that is nearest to the pick-up point with the help of the GPS. The booking details are sent to the driver of the selected taxis via the PMDN. Once the job is acknowledged by the driver, the system will automatically announce to the customer the taxis number plate and ETA (Expected Time of Arrival) through the IVR. The whole process, starting with the customer making a telephone call to the time when a taxi arrives, is totally automated without the intervention of an operator or dependent on voice radio calls. Hence, the time taken to process a booking is greatly reduced and more customers will be able to get through to the radio taxis booking line. The frustration of booking a taxis is a thing of the past. TIBS Taxis after the installation TIBS Taxis Driver responding to the Mobile Data Terminal MDT TIBS ATLDS Control Room

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

The ATLDS consists of the following subsystems:

a. Order Taking Subsystem

The Order Taking Subsystem comprises a PABX andan IVR system. The PABX connects calls and the IVRprovides the interactive response to the caller. ThePABX is incorporated with Telecom's CLI (Call Line

Identification) feature. The CLI feature enables the ATLDS system to identify the caller and at such it isable to retrieve prior information of the caller (such asnames and pick-up addresses) stored in the systemdatabase.

The IVR greets the caller with pre-recordedmessages and prompts the caller at every step toprovide his booking details by pressing of keys on atelephone. With information of the caller alreadystored in the database, the key pressed is translatedas pick-up address to the system.

b. Order Allocation and Despatch Subsystem

The heart of the system is the Order Allocation andDespatch Subsystem. It performs the intricate task ofprocessing an order, allocating and despatching ataxi to the customer in the shortest time possible.

The system sends out the pick-up address throughthe PMDN network. Vacant taxis within the searchradius of the pick-up address will automaticallyrespond to the system their positions. With theinformation received, the system computes thedistances of the taxis and the taxi nearest to the

pick-up address will then be allocated the job.

c. Information Subsystem

The Information Subsystem provides a host ofmanagement and accounting information which areuseful for making statistical analysis andmanagement reports.

d. In-Vehicle Equipment

The In-Vehicle Equipment installed in each taxiconsists of the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT),

Intelligent Interface Unit, PMDN modem and GPSreceiver. The Intelligent Interface Unit provides thein-vehicle processing of information, and itcommunicates with the Order Allocation andDespatch Subsystem via the PMDN modem.

The Mobile Data Terminal provides the display ofmessage containing booking details to the taxi driver. The taxi driver can also communicate with the ControlCentre using pre-canned messages stored in theMDT.

FEATURES •  Improves grade of service and satisfaction to taxi
