As a finalist, I appreciate the opportunity to provide you with insight into how I approach the industry as a whole, my work and what it truly means to be a professional home stager.

When I first started out, my objective mirrored that of other stagers. I truly wanted to make a difference in how quickly the home was on the market. I accomplished that mission with great success.

To grow individually was one thing. However, I wanted more. I felt a responsibility to take whatever knowledge I had and to assist others within the industry. When I first learned that RESA was getting formed, I wanted in. Herein lied the perfect opportunity to help shape and grow an industry. I’ve been fortunate to participate thru my role as Regional Vice President of the Southeast Region and as the co-chairperson for the Ethics Committee.

Education thru Marketing, Blogs and Workshops

One of the greatest opportunities to help grow the industry is to provide other home stagers with the ability to showcase their work. It was for that very reason that I created a group on Active Rain (a social network for anyone involved in real estate) called “Staging Before & After Pictures.”

It’s within this group that stagers, throughout the country, can post before and after pictures and have their work featured.

Workshops – When asked if I would be interested in co-chairing a roundtable event for stagers in Atlanta, I jumped at the opportunity. For two consecutive years, I’ve been given an opportunity to hear of the challenges that the stagers locally were experiencing and help implement change.

Photography Class – The more successful home stagers are with taking photos of their work, the better. It is for that very reason that I have volunteered to co-present at the RESA convention with the Art of Capturing Great Photos.

When I first started out as a home stager, I learned quickly how important the photos were to the seller and to the real estate agent. As a result, I sat out to provide the best quality photos I could take. I spent hours reviewing photos, learning what angles worked best, lighting, etc… The benefits to the sellers have been tremendous.

One of the projects that I’m perhaps most proud of is this staging. Yes, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of staging high-end homes and enjoy staging those as well. However, to take a low-end price point and have it brought to life through home staging was extremely gratifying.
