ATLANTA
Atlanta is the capital of and the most populous city
in the U.S. state of Georgia, with an estimated 2013
population of 447,841. Atlanta is the cultural and eco-
nomic center of the Atlanta metropolitan area, home
to 5,522,942 people and the ninth largest metropolitan
area in the United States. Atlanta is the county seat of
Fulton County, and a small portion of the city extends
eastward into DeKalb County.
Atlanta was established in 1837 at the intersec-
tion of two railroad lines, and the city rose from the
ashes of the Civil War to become a national center of
commerce. In the decades following the Civil Rights
Movement, during which the city earned a reputation
as “too busy to hate” for the progressive views of its
citizens and leaders, Atlanta attained international prom-
inence. Atlanta is the primary transportation hub of the
Southeastern United States, via highway, railroad, and
air, with Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport
being the world’s busiest airport since 1998.

DEVELOPMENTWhile constructing the “ATL” logo, I realized how there
could be one line that connects the cross bar of the A
with the top of the T. I also saw how the body of the
T and the body of the L could connect with one line.
This began my contruction of a fluid logo. I later played
around with seperating the letters a bit more to make it
more interesting and visually appealing.

During creation of the Atlanta logo,
I first researched Atlanta as a city
to see what kind of a place it is.
Since I have never been there, I
wanted to get a feel for the place.
My research led me to the con-
clusion that Atlanta is a futuristic,
down to earth, and creative atmo-
sphere. This can be shown in my
final logo by the 90 degree angles
and geometric shapes (futuristic),
simplicity of the design (down to
earth), and unexpected spacing
(creative).

ROCKWELLRockwell enhances the Unique concept of Atlanta
because of the interesting shapes of the letters that are
uncommon. The big bold letters also enhance the “bold”
and outgoing concept of Atlanta.

COLORSI first started with the peach color because of Georgia
Peaches. I thought that the blues nicely complimented
the peach because Atlanta is close to the water. And it
is cool and calm like Atlanta.
